Thanks for the great video! I have been working on a project in this way and one quirk I have noticed is I need to re-select 7.1.2 (or 7.0.2) on the Envelop master bus each time i open the project as it seems to default to something else even if it is saying 7.1.2

I would love to see a video on how to use the LFE exclusively! Did you ever end up making that video?

It pops up in some if my recent videos where I talk about how to turn Ableton into a multichannel DAW.

Thank you so much for your videos. Very clear, and I've finally been able to alter my set-up to produce some crude Atmos mixes (my 'monitor' is just a cheap AVR with passive speakers, LOL)! Really exciting! Thanks!
@michaelgwagner Жыл бұрын
You’re very welcome! Most people go the AVR route.
@robertjones9598 Жыл бұрын
@@michaelgwagner Ah, that's good to know! I couldn't find much information about using AVR's though, the Gearspace forums for example seemed to strongly hint that it was just not possible, because the Renderer doesn't send an Atmos signal whilst monitoring. It took me weeks to figure out that I needed to reconfig my speaker set-up on the AVR to keep all the channels perma-open and bypass any need for encoding in order to get the audio to the ceiling speakers. Doh! 😂 Also, I found the way to set-up the monitoring on the Dolby Renderer really weird and anti-intuitive (I only have a 5.1.2 setup), but in one moment of exhausted, frustrated random clicking it all magically came together! Anyway, thanks for your help, I seriously would be lost without these videos. It beats trawling through the manuals!

Great tutorial! Thank you for this. Silly question - I am using Ableton for a project that requires a 5.1 mix. I will do the same process as you guided in the video (but for 5.1). How would you recommend exporting the file when delivering to the client as a WAV? Thanks again!
@michaelgwagner Жыл бұрын
I would probably just route it into a secondary DAW such as Reaper. If you are working with the external Dolby Atmos Renderer you could also export it thtough the renderer in 5.1

Just subscribed! Can you do a video with this set up but multiple tracks. Also include tracks that are moving and automated around the room. Thanks so much 🙏🏼

Thanks so much Michael! Incredible video as always. Is it necessary to configure the inputs of the Envelope Master Bus? And if so, what are they? I'm having difficulty receiving any audio information from the master bus into the atmos renderer.
@michaelgwagner Жыл бұрын
No, the inputs of the Envelop Master Bus Devices are not necessary in this case. Make sure that you have the Ableton and DAPS inputs/outputs set correctly.

@@michaelgwagner I have the same issue...daps doesn't recognise E4L Master outputs
@michaelgwagner Жыл бұрын
The dev is currently trying to figure out what the issue is. Most likely a problem with the Ableton version. Contact me on Discord and I can send you the previous version of the device which does not have the same issue.

@@michaelgwagner Thank you! In fact, I was just about to contact you - I realised the older version worked, while the updated version did not. I had assumed there was a problem with my installation of the update. Glad to hear it's a known issue. See you on Discord!

@@flowersh0p I believe I fixed the issue you were having. Please go back to the download link and try version 1.42. Can you post back here to let us know that it works?

One problem I’ve ran into is the the source panner is sort of in the way of the Dolby Atmos panner when I want to pan something. Is there a way to have the source panner not pan and just bring the audio to the Dolby bed?
@michaelgwagnerАй бұрын
There is. Instead of the source panner, use the custom audio injector device: maxforlive.com/profile/user/d5x610

Tks for all usefull info Michael! Do you have an online course about douby atmos in ableton? Can you produce a video with automated multiple tracks , maybe with the best practices for a good experience on streaming platforms, or maybe that's the topic for more then one video hahaha

I might do that at some point. Not on the immediate list of todos though.

I would love to see a video where one can route low frequency (say below 80 Hz) to the LFE channel so that channel can then be routed to the subs. For music production, I feel the LFE channel seems like a waste or really, not used to its full potential. Thanks.
@michaelgwagner Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I put that on my list.
@duckthebass Жыл бұрын
It is not a waste, it is needed when mixing in a studio. You would send kick and bass to LFE just to beef them up. LFE is disabled in Headphones Only Mode, so it sounds like it is not needed in headphones, but if you bring your mix to a Dolby Atmos studio, you will hear that your mix would benefit from those low frequencies, that's why we need LFE.
@TheWinklair Жыл бұрын
Can anyone explain why this is necessary. Dolby has a video up for Ableton where they make it seem the workflow is pretty much the same that I see in the Pro Tools videos. Atmos Bridge -> Track outputs assigned to according beds + Timecode -> Atmos renderer And then there is the Fidler Atmos Composer which seems to work similar as the Atmos renderer but with a plugin on the master bus. What do I miss?
@michaelgwagner Жыл бұрын
Ableton does not have multichannel capabilities, Pro Tools has. You can do (almost) everything in the Fiedler Atmos Composer. But this is an older video. It was published before the release of Fiedler’s Atmos Composer.

@@michaelgwagner hm then it is a problem about windows loopback system i guess. Ableton live also cant send audio into obs like mac do. We have to use external apps like reastream. So if i use physical i/o instead of software like bridge i can do it in windows as well? I can choose focusrite outputs now so if i send them to another computer i can use it right? Or if i loop back those outputs to same pc it will work also?
@michaelgwagner10 ай бұрын
You can use Jack routing for the 128 channels. But the main problem is the lack of a Windows version of the music panner.
