the azortharion guide says to do 2x aim shots per vulnerable window, with the casts of aimed shot casts starting at about 4 seconds of vulnerable remaining. I assume that this is to not totally run out of focus.... I would like to hear your opinion.

Thanks for making this! I jumped my artifact knowledge from 12 to 20 and switched from BM to MM yesterday. With heroic EN I managed about the same single target dps (~260k) but honestly had no clue what I was doing for aoe. The tip about two target sustained cleave helps so much

This will be great on fights where you can stand still and focus on rotations. Sadly that is no raid ever, and even less likely on M+. I liked the aimless mash buttons that MM was even in 7.0 changes, which i personally found to be a major change over WoD and MoP. Now I have to pay attention more actively than I like from my hunter. Besides BM is just more fun and more damage. With just the changes to how the Dire Beast reset proc, i am averaging 70k-100k more damage depending on RNG. It feels more fun to run around and still do damage. It also feels like I am of use to a raid when i have Ancient Hysteria or a Crane Rebirth thing

Yeah, the changes in 7.1.5 made the class harder and clunkier to play than before without the payoff you'd expect from added complexity. Just more bad class design. It isn't fun anymore.

ok; it seems you dont notice posts on your discussion page so i'll repost it here: Hi Kelani; just has some thoughts after watching your video my Simulcrafts are showing that keeping Sidewinders is showing a significant increase in DPS (like 100k over Trick Shot) granted my gear is only 857 and i dont have any legendaries but my stat balance is golden at like 14% haste 23% Mastery right now i'm doing an Windburst: Aimed x3 Sidewinders, Aimed Marked Crows Aimed and then using sidewinders only when procced with just a single aimed before marked and back or if focus permits Windburst and Aimed x2 and holding a stable 200k-270 with trueshot going (all three gold talents puchaces and 3/4 in quick shot? (the TS cd reduction) any thoughts on your end to this or maybe why simulcraft is showing sidewinders as better

gotta say the aoe spec in dung is a lot of fun, tough i'm not sure what the best rotation is, trickshot is best he says but isn't marked shot spam superior to aimed shot spam? does more damage procs more aoes, and u also get piercing shot since you mostly have ur focus over 100, u surely lose in single target tough

The only issue I have with this guide is that if you are running patient sniper it is pretty optimistic to hope that you will have the time to stand still and cast 3 aimed shots in a row. If you have to move before you can cast all 3 then you might miss out on the last aimed which is the one that will be hitting hardest.

When I use trueshot I basicly get infinite arkane Shot proccs - do I just ignore those? What about the legendary ring? Marken shot just does not seem to fit in the rotation because of the focus cost und is just another vul enabler? So, I've been maining BM Hunter in legion so far. Really want to swap to MM, since it just feels more fun and rewarding to play (have been sort of new to the game here in legion, played a bit in WoD, and that's it for my WoW "career"). So, use your opener, that is Trueshot ( I refuse to use murder of crows on MM :p), and then Aimed shot, aimed shot to proc vulnerable, then 3 aimed shots? Ehm, just asking, when am I going to use my artifact ability? Right after this burst?

I tested out using sidewinders and trickshot 2 times each on a target dummy. Each time I did my damage rotation for 3 minutes exactly without using Trueshot. Both times, Sidewinders had about 20-30k higher dps. I must be doing something wrong, but can't figure out what.

seeing how your marked shot almost does twice as much damage as your aimed shot I'd say that you should use the extra procs whenever you get them. Just make sure that the aimed shot that you can get off are as far back on the timer as possible

Carlton Banks to be honest this a good question that no one has answered yet. if you have another legendary use that is basically what I am told. this legendary makes it even more confusing. might sit on a single target dummy and go rotation with ring and then without ring and record your output. do it 3 times for each for best results as rng happens. keep everything else the same, time spent, same rotation, same CD usage etc.

The 2 MM BiS Legenderies are the Boots and the Belt, but the only issue with the belt is that you only get stacks of it when you use multi-shot. Do you think it's better a just use Multi shot in Single target situations to gain stacks, or do you think there is a better replacement legendary for single target situations?

Belt is good for any situation you can use multi shot. You shouldnt use multi on ST, ever. Gloves are better than belt for ST.

I honestly don't know - you'd be trading focus and arcane shot damage for multi shot damage and +10% to your first aimed shot. It could be worthwhile but you'd be better off learning how to tell simcraft to do that and run simulations. That will give you much more accurate information. You can always give it a try and see how it feels :P.

Although its you know, a legendary, so not everyone is going to get it, MM isn't as much of a turret as you think, the new gloves make every 2nd Aimed shot castable while moving, so if you have to hit 4 aimed shots in the rotation, then 2 of them you can move greatly, I dont get how people can bash a spec so hard when its the player and not the spec, Love the video btw, helped a lot :D

They had said cleaving would be nerfed and single target would be an improvement through Aimed Shot buffs. Can you talk a little about the differences between 7.1 single target damage and the new patch? Is this an actual single target damage increase?

Jeremy Morrow yes single target was increased. previously marked shot was our hardest hitting skill and instead of using arcane to get the proc we had a skill called sidwinvers, sidwinvers would hit every target between you and your focused target so when marked proced, everything that your sidewinders hit would also get hit by marked shot. massive damage on aoe because the more target we can hit at once with our hardest hitting skill. in simple basic terms our single target rotation was the same as our aoe so during aoe encounters our single target was almost doubled. this made mm hunters previously high top dmg for aoe but very mediocre on single target. this was because if the just simply buffed our single target then they were also buffing our aoe and our aoe was already op so they couldn't do any buffs. to "fix" this they change the playstyle so we were stronger on single target.

In M+ I've still just been running my Sidewinders/patient siper/volley build because it's so versatile and does immense AoE damage still. For example on those targets where you AoE'd, i'm still pulling 1M but my gear is probably a lot better so who knows. To each their own. New style single target is pretty strong, i'm parsing around 500-525k on bosses without too much movement, which seems to more than compete with the other classes. Too bad my damage is cut almost in half on fights where I need to jump around all day.

Survival is the lowest melee spec by a decent margin. Why take a survival hunter when almost anyone else does more damage and brings more to the table? It's also much easier to screw up survival, so any other melee is a safer bet.

gotta say had a lot of fun with the aoe spec tonight in kara, i also did a 400k overall deeps in +7 vault with my dogshit 865 prydaz hunter! had a mastery 855 statstick and deteriorated core... most of the fun was lost when i saw a 895 ret with double bis legendary and 880 bis trinkets averagin 800k.. join the prydaz club guys...

tested this last night dont agree with sw for multi being subpar. with marked shot as top priority you get a lot more dmg spaming MS. recommend trying MS spam w True Shot up over aimed shots for trick shot build. there is much much higher spell volume and criting marked shots under trueshot hit pretty hard it also keeps you from being punished for movement. plus you will ramp up your True Aim and be focused capped off the Trueshot keeping a optimal rotation. I found it was a dps loss to try and stay 115-125 focus capped for a marked shot. fully stacked true aim arcane hits for over 100k. i put a arcane after the wb or ms no matter what to max out the final aimed which would hit for 1.2 mil consistantly whereas at the 3-4 sec mark i saw 500-600k. Thank you for all your research. MM looks to be about where we were in terms of DPS output placement vs all the other classes.

Tried the mm single target on boss target dummy the new way with 21% haste. Best I could do was 280k standing still and 240k moving around. so I switched back to pre 7.1.5 and did 354k on the boss dummy standing still and 308k moving. It seems you are trying a new talent build and using your personal opinion as fact on mm dps. So as it stands I'll stick with sidewinder 308k to 354k seems a better option to me.

zXtheFoxXz - the problem is it's hella clunky, impractical for fights where you are moving around a lot (read: nearly every boss fight), and the added complexity to the rotation doesn't give any additional benefit whatsoever over the old build. It's change for change's sake and doesn't make the spec any better, and in many situations makes it worse.
