7.1 Marksmanship Hunter Guide (PvE)

pretty good guide if you want a 50%tile parse if you wanna do good listen to me step 1. Always know 1 windburst = 3 aimedshots (4 with lust) 2. unless you have a TON of haste (anyone watching a guide more than likely doesn't) then you're only getting 3 marked shots without lust when you use truefire again, 4 WITH lust. 3. You want to use your marked shots as late as possible without the vuln buff falling off. Doing this will generally keep you from waiting for windburst and sidewinders to come back off of CD. 4. Do NOT copy how he did his opener, especially if you have critical focus, he wasted a good 3-4 aimed shots by capping focus in the opener. You want to windburst then immediately trueshot (i've noticed doing it this way you still get the trueshot bonus from windburst without wasting 1.25+ secs of trueshot) then barrge, then sidewinder and blow ALL your focus on aimed shots then marked shots, then sidewinder, blow all focus on aimed then marked shots again, etc... you will get 3 marked shots off, 4 with lust 5. Again, DO NOT copy how he did the opener, he really did a terrible job with it, you will gain much much more dps by actually using all your focus. You will get more aimed shots and still get the same amount of hunting target/marked shot procs. 6. Lastly, try not to use sidewinder without a hunting target proc UNLESS you have two stacks or will focus cap by a good bit, try and hold it off until either of those two things happen.

Very informative guide dude, I've been using the same rotation myself except for 1 subtle difference. When I'm in my Trueshot rotation, I barrage, SW, MS, SW, MS, AS, AS, SW, MS, AS til the last SW comes up for the last MS. Subtle difference but same results I'm fairly certain.

It's not an addon, its built into WoW now. Interface -> ActionBars [x] show numbers for cooldowns

noob hunter question/request here. can you go over your weak auras and you tracking bars? it appears you have one bar on top and one on bottom of your cast bar, what are those tracking? stupid questions I know, I main a druid and have been enjoying playing on my hunter, just looking to be more effective.

Sidewinders has been pissing me off lately as i always end up pulling a few extra mobs throughout the dungeon, or have to just not use it if additional adds are too close to the group we are pulling.

sidewinders is like the old glaive toss is just a matter of which target is the main one hit. plus its marked shot thats the ninja puller... winter soldier, I noticed that barrage is not having shot go sky ward, can u confirm no more pulling the sky?

Volley should always be taken for dungeon purposes. It does more AoE damage than barrage on stacked target, and there's much more uptime on it in a dungeon than you'd have on barrage, due to the spread of it.

Single target isn't any different rotation wise. You just use Murder of Crows instead of barrage.

I re rolled coz demon hunter is a snooze feast. im 848 atm my weapon is 830 and i dont have my 3rd relic slot unlocked. im guessing thats why my dps is low right my next talent will be Bullseye still dont have it yet.

DH is a snoozefest but pressing 1-4 shots on a hunter is more interesting for a main rotation? I get that hunter is diffficult to master and has a lot of things going for in utility wise but damn.

Find better friends lol. Seriously though try moving closer / further away. If you are worried about enemies behind, move to max distance. If you are worried about enemies on the sides, move into melee range. If you are worried about both, then misdirect one of the other dps and blame them.

Tnx. I have another question. With Mastery is our second best, I tend to sim better atm with items that have haste and minor mastery or no mastery at all. My Mastery ain't that high to begin with; M 19%, H 18.6%, C 21.75%. Is there a softcap here somewhere? Should I go with Simcraft or do I keep knocking in Mastery?

effietv 18% haste is on the high end. make sure your Sim craft is up to date and try to get more mastery

Pretty sure that we are better off holding onto windburst for the vulnerable buff. For Example, you use SW if procced, AS, MS, AS, AS, Barrage, WB, (AS,) SW, AS, MS, AS, AS, SW, AS, MS, AS, AS, [WB, AS,] SW, AS, MS, AS, AS, Barrage. [ ] assumes WB is off CD. ( ) assumes you have focus to cast This will give you the most uptime on your vulnerable buff. it still wont be 100% of the time because of RNG, but it's still up a lot more often. In your video you did MS, WB, AS but if you did MS, AS, WB, AS you get more use out of the vulnerable buff by using that extra AS. Yes you delay your WB, you're getting more use out of the vulnerable buff and also, you are using your focus a little more efficiently, which in turn will increase you DPS. I'm not saying this is 100% correct or that you are wrong, Just my thoughts on it. I could very possibly be wrong on this. It might be worse to delay WB. I haven't tested it enought to know for sure.

In theory your idea is sound but a lot of those () are not feasible focus wise. For example AS,MS,AS,AS, Barrage and you are at or close to 0 focus, never-mind a WB and fourth AS. If your Marking Targets don't proc then you could have the focus for it, but the amount of times that happens is slim. during a 5-7 minute fight.

This is why i usually use my WB when a Locked & Loaded procs to get the free AS in there. ofc if the target is vulnerable while Lock & Loaded procs ill just let em fly.

Useless !! Unless you do this on single target thus demonstration is not viable ! You basically attack 8 targets at once which is not viable in a raid or at bosses because the damn skills don't proc as they should !
