@@dylanharrington2676 I have been pretty darn happy with it. The plumbing or design hasn't given me a single issue. Few leaking lines/fittings but that was my own fault. I errored on the side of too loose than too tight. The only thing I am still not 100% sure on it the airdog itself. It has been performing pretty darn good but doesn't quite hold pressure as good as I thought it would. Most guys I talk to though say that their pumps hold pressure almost rock solid. I need to check the pump to make sure there's not a bad Oring on the regulator or something. That being said I only see a drop of 3-5 psi at full throttle so it's not like it bad. I am definitely not bashing airdog by any means. I need to do some work on my end before I can truly give a final opinion on the pump. The best part is that is has a full lifetime warranty though. . I would like a follow-up on the life of the fuel pump. With larger lines you are pumping almost twice the mass of fuel, requiring proportionately more horsepower. Seems to me fuel pump may burn out.
@LivingOnWheels5 жыл бұрын
So far the pump seems to be doing well. Large feed line to the pump is important to reduce any restriction on the pump pulling fuel in. Larger return line (pump to tank) shouldn't be any issue because that is simply bleeding off excess aerated fuel. As for the line from the tank to the engine I get what you are saying and I'll explain my thought process. I don't have a regulated return off the heads and so once the fuel lines are at pressure the pump isn't pumping any more fuel than any other setup, simply just what the engine demands. By no means am I am expert on all of this though, but with the reasoning that seams correct in my head the 1/2" line shouldn't be an issue or cause over pumping.
@jackonthefarm55405 жыл бұрын
@@LivingOnWheels I don't follow all of what your system consists of, but just be clear, lots of people don't quite think about pumps correctly. With small suction and discharge lines, a pump moves less mass than with large lines. With small lines and less mass, the pump uses less current and produces less horsepower. With large lines, the pump uses much more current and produces more horsepower. Many people think that less restrictive lines make it easier on the pump. This is the opposite of the truth.
@LivingOnWheels5 жыл бұрын
I totally get what you are saying and I appreciate the input. I agree with you about it depending on the setup but the way my system is plumbed, I don't think that is a concern of mine. Mine is not a flow through system at the heads and so the pump isnt constanlty flowing that volume of fuel. With the 1/2'' suction and return lines I simply used the supplied hose the Airdog provided. I know if their is too much restriction on the suction line then the pump works harder to pull it in. Thanks for providing you input. Like I said, by no means am I an expert on this. I just set it up the best way I knew how based on the system I chose and the research I have done. I am not sure if this is the final setup I will end up with or not. Time will tell.
@theezeelife2923 жыл бұрын
That's a pretty good setup. Very clean install. I do have a question or two for you. Bear in mind, I'm speaking from an off-road perspective (I wheel my vehicles). Is there a way to replace the fuel lines up on top of the fuel tank? That bottom sump sits very low and I'm sure I'd scrape that on an obstacle and destroy it. I don't get too extreme, but it does happen from time to time. Is there a way to mount the fuel pump and filter system higher? Again, speaking from an off-road perspective. Again, great build and good job on the video.
@LivingOnWheels3 жыл бұрын
Thanks man. You could totally mount the lines up top and use a big draw straw type setup. Or put a skid plate under the fuel tank. The pump itself is actually far up there. To me sounds like it's way quieter... way cool, can you do a test run see how much quicker it is?

Between the fuel system and the high pressure oil crossover it made a huge difference in idle quality! I measured a near 5 decibel drop in the cab at idle. As far as speed goes it's probably pretty close to the exact same. Since its still stock injectors, it won't be delivering much more fuel. Some new sticks should be coming very soon though!!!

@@LivingOnWheels awesome! Check out Swamps Stage 2 split shot injectors, that way you don't have to switch to single shot and make the truck louder than what it is now... also probably should consider adrenaline hpop, my hpop just went out and it has 210 k miles.... for some reason it went out after I just made my truck faster...haha. go figure
@LivingOnWheels5 жыл бұрын
@@joeygonzales6350 I have looked into those. I'm probably going to be going with single shots just for the efficiency of them. Im not to concerned about them being a little noisier. These trucks will always be loud haha. Im definitely more geared toward reliability than I am power right now since it is my daily driver.

@@LivingOnWheels you could also look into the CNC Fab HPOP. I have a stage one in my PSD and like it and it will supply the soon to be upgraded 205/30s. I going with the 205/30 hybrids because they are easier for tuning and better on the HPOP.

what does this help for ?
@LivingOnWheels5 жыл бұрын
A number of things. 1) it feeds fuel to all 4 corners and eliminates the deadhead system on the superdutys 2) the airdog separates the air from the fuel 3) it should supply a more steady psi of fuel

Looks like the previous owner had already put in a new shower head strainer in, at least from the looks of it. They don't make it past 10 or 12 years without disintegrating. This is a week point on the fuel delivery system for sure. I replaced my strainer once already. If I still have the truck in 7 more years. I will just drop the tank again.

I definitely looked better than I expected but I would be surprised if he did. Seems like there wasn't much maintenance done to this thing before I bought it.

Is this legal in California?
@LivingOnWheels5 жыл бұрын
Honestly I have no idea. I don't see why a fuel system would give you any issues because it has nothing to do with emissions, but I know they can be pretty stingy about things needing to look stock. Californias laws are so wacky though, I cant say for sure.

Did you notice any difference when u were done
@LivingOnWheels5 жыл бұрын
With the 4 line feed kit and the oil crossover the engine definitely ran smoother.

Any oil temp difference or fuel economy gain or loss
@LivingOnWheels5 жыл бұрын
Nope you won’t see those kind of gains with systems like this. This is for supporting larger injectors, better filtration, and for getting rid of the stock fuel bowl in the valley.

@@LivingOnWheels I was asking cause I'm gonna be running 180/30 injectors with a adrenaline hpop
@LivingOnWheels5 жыл бұрын
313dieselguy a healthy stock pump might be able to supply those. I’d recommend just getting a fuel pressure gauge and see. If it drops too much pressure then you can upgrade the fuel system

Ford recommends spraying the returned fuel, Not just returning to bottom of tank. This stops the fuel from gumming. Argue with Ford engineers not me.
@LivingOnWheels3 жыл бұрын
You may be right but the factory sending unit returns the fuel to almost the exact same place as the sump does. So I’m not worried about it.
@SeymourBalz3 жыл бұрын
@@LivingOnWheels it's the temperature. Returning fuel is say 180° spraying the fuel disapates the temp..not leaving a warm pool. Again..it's not me...it's Ford.
@LivingOnWheels3 жыл бұрын
I totally get that and it makes sense. What I’m saying is Ford has the fuel returning near the bottom of the tank from the factory. So even they aren’t spraying it.
@SeymourBalz3 жыл бұрын
@@LivingOnWheels ok... All I know is what Ford training techs say.. I'm not sure if it's still sprayed... submerged.(?) Second though.... A larger return..would lower pressure in the regulator...as it's received less back pressure to evacuate unused fuel. (?)
@LivingOnWheels3 жыл бұрын
A larger return shouldn’t effect the pressure regulator as it’s operated on a mechanical spring not based on the return line pressure. A line that’s too small might have negative effect though
