Every 10 years, there's a Jason Williams and a Steve Smith in the NBA. They just happen to have the same name... and they also come is different shapes and sizes too. Mamadou Ndiaye just happens to be a popular name in Senegal, where the boy is from.

Looking at his raw athletic ability, he's right around where Roy Hibbert along with 3 more inches of height is so he does have what it takes to be a starter in the NBA, but he still won't be NBA material if he can only make 40% of his free throws, fumble passes, and bring the ball down without any basic fundamentals, but you can't blame him because he's never played against anyone that could defend him yet. He should be NBA ready after 2 years of D1 college exp.
@FuryMaNiiAcZz
@FuryMaNiiAcZz 11 жыл бұрын
No way, guys he can't control the ball. He's got 5"8 white kids boppin the ball in his hands he can't protect the ball. He's not fast enuff up and down the court. With trained athletes and people even 6"8 he could be held under 15 pts. If he wants to get to the nba and go up against Howard, Bynum, Lopez , gasols, and tough defenders like ibaka and Noah. He needs better competition and now
@stevelau1933
@stevelau1933 11 жыл бұрын
He is somewhere between Shaq and Kenny George with a good amount of upside because he's big enough to post up and hook shot over everyone in the NBA with ease, and not too tall to make him immobile. Even if he is strong enough to back down college centers for a dunk every time he gets the ball next year in college, he should still work on learning a post & mid range game so he can be successful in the NBA.
@beasty108
@beasty108 11 жыл бұрын
he isn't going against real ballers. if he continues to play like this then he won't get better or do much in collage or NBA. he only has height advantage, but when he has to go against pros and stars his height won't mean much unless he gets better in the post, gets stronger, b-ball iq, and trains seriously. and he travels a whole bunch. even in this vid he got called for traveling so much. if he plays and doesn't train as if it is going to be like this all the time then he won't do well...
@stevelau1933
@stevelau1933 12 жыл бұрын
For all the haters out there who think he can't do anything other than dunk on inferior competition, he's already rated as the #2 center for the class of 2013 and his stats are 24/14/5 for his first year in organized basketball. He already shows more basketball skills than Hasheem Thabeet with his footwork and soft touch around the rim. His FT % might only be 49%, but he's still learning and should be in the top 10 once he is drafted to the NBA.
@stevelau1933
@stevelau1933 12 жыл бұрын
I see the same thing, but some people expect him to move like a guard. He does have a crazy amount of potential, maybe the most in his draft class especially if this is only his first year of playing basketball. He will also be the tallest one in the NBA where a 2-3 inch height advantage is huge, especially if you have some athleticism, and a post game. There aren't that many players out there with a 10ft standing reach.
@jdawgg904
@jdawgg904 12 жыл бұрын
i can't begin to tell you how many extremely tall kids i have seen go k-12 being timid and weak because all of their teachers and mentors always told them to, "play nice and be gentle with the smaller kids." it's great to see this kid throwing down as hard as he can. of course, if he ever wants to be a successful basketball player, he will have to learn post moves, but this video was just a dunk montage. if you are this coordinated for being 7'5 at his age, someone will develop him in college
@stevelau1933
@stevelau1933 11 жыл бұрын
If they were generally around 6ft and had over 40 inch verticals, then they might have a chance of getting a lucky block. It would still be hard though because he weighs over 300 and palms the ball like a softball on a nerf rim so it would have to be a really good block or you might get your hand broken on the rim trying.
@stevelau1933
@stevelau1933 11 жыл бұрын
He may not dunk every time he touches the ball in the NBA, but when you can grab rim without jumping, it won't be very hard at any level to get a lot of dunks. For example, being only 6ft tall, I need a running start to get high enough to dunk while he doesn't need any wind up or momentum since his standing reach is already 10ft.

I was confused by this. Everything on KZbin puts him in high school, which supports Ben's claim, but there is also a Mamadou N'diaye on wikipedia that was a pro for about ten years starting in 2000. Go to wikipedia and add /wiki/Mamadou_N'diaye. I think it may just be a coincidence, or perhaps the person who made the wiki article is confusing the two as well.
@stevelau1933
@stevelau1933 11 жыл бұрын
He at least got his head a couple of inches above the bottom of the net, and looking at his feet, he was at least 12 inches above the ground off of raw vertical at 1:13 which is not bad for a 300+lb player. For most 200lb athletic guys with 30+ inch verticals, it will still be hard to jump more than a foot off the ground when you try to jump with another 100lbs on your body.

Well, a lot of centers can't shoot free throws. I mean hack Shaq existed for a reason. A lot of centers are lucky if they have above 50% shooting percentage. If he got better at it, he'd be more deadly yes. But centers are there for blocking shots and rebounds. Not for their clutch free throw shooting.
