Why is distance/displacement = y and not = 5-y? Supposing we set the hemisphere on the x-axis and not below it. I've seen other similar problems where they would subtract the top number minus the variable, in this case y.

yeah, bro, I agree with you. I solved the problem with the hemisphere placed on the x-axis and this gives us the displacement for the thin layer as 5-y. I came back to check the comments cause I doubted this...thanks mate for sharing your opinion.

The answer should be 62.5pi(625/4) or 30679.616
