It's really a matter of what your primary goal is with the cartridge/rifle. 7.62X39 is a better hunting cartridge and can be loaded hotter than 300blk. The 300 blk is a better cartridge if your goal is using a suppressor. Both cartridges with the proper bullet are better penetrators than the 5.56

Great topic I have both of these cartridges for intermittent midrange carbine choice's. I'm an AK- 47 guy and AR-15 guy these two rounds are great choices for defense and hunting in supersonic loads and subsonic loads. Plus these 2 cartridges open a person up to some cool rifles not just AK and AR platforms. I always recommend them to first time gun buyers. Ammo costs are close to the same right now: .300 Blackout 11.99-13 110gr hp/fmj 7.62x39 8.99-13 124 gr fmj/hp 5.56 8.99-13 55-62gr hp cause it's always in the comments. Please don't say.300 Blackout AR-15 is only meant to shoot 220gr subs from a 9in barrel and only goes 150yards after that it's useless and not accurate. It's very useful in may barrel lengths and accurate bullet with a good shooter behind the trigger. The rounds are very close in power and speed after 200 yards the Blackout takes the 7.62x39 because of the bullet design.

All very good points! And I’ve never understood the dedicated sub sonic 300blk either. You’re losing the best features of the round and you’re only slightly better off than you would’ve been with a PCC. To me 300blk has always been a cartridge better suited for the AR-15 than 7.62x39 for the intermediate 30 cal options. The one main thing that keeps it from being a choice I have in inventory is its ability to fit in a 5.56 chamber. Which I know is great for multiple reasons (ability to utilize 5.56 bolts and reloading purposes) but working at the gun shop I did I’ve seen one too many 5.56 guns blow up from a misplaced 300blk. And some were from fairly experienced shooters. Murphy follows me everywhere and so personally I don’t own one. Not saying with careful oversight and methods of separation you can’t keep this from happening. Just not something I want to risk.
@teamstucker62425 күн бұрын
@@conceptualconcepts6.9 I completely understand and agree with you on Murphy's law getting you on the firing line. I made a hard decision to sell off all my 5.56 guns and ammo. Went 💯 .300 Blackout because of the risks and less cartridges to feed the better.

Been a large supporter of x39 for years. I have several rifles chambered in it including a Ruger bolt gun.. Been involved in a LOT of arguments regarding it also.. Using it in a vehicle tactics class is where it REALLY opened my eyes.. Its performance in vehicles and structures is significant.

It's funny. I have always kind of seen Krinks as impractical and I kind of see 300 BLK as not practical enough for my budget, and, as much as I love my GF3, I still see it as a range toy... And right now my budget only allows practical. That being said, PSA revealed their Krink in 300 BLK and I'm already thinking of excuses I am going to give my wife as to why we practically must have this gun in our safe.

i love my blackout, but I'm an AK guy at heart. but with the price of 300 blk going down and x39 going up, I'm thinking about setting the blackout with supers to shoot in a 2 gun match and actually run that gun a little harder. I previously only used it for subs and fun range time.

The whole 300blk vs 762 thing to me is irrelevant. I have them both for COMPLETELY different reasons. Also zero your 300blk with fp rounds and run subs inside 100 yards. They’re close enough to hit what you need. 300blk is a truck gun home defense gun. Ak is a combat rifle and 762 is a combat cartridge. I have tons of it and the 300blk is more niche

Haven’t looked into it much. There’s a lot of potential in these niche cartridges, but unless they catch and become popular they all seem to disappear in a few years. Like 450 bushmaster and 6.5 Grendel.
