In this weeks WIR I address the ongoing athlete interview series and what that is going to murph into.
I talk about SEAL training vs making to the Games based off of a question I received in my athlete interview.
And I comment on the Hyrox comments related to Fikowski

Love the content you are putting out. Why is it not being used or presented on CF Games podcast (1 million subscribers) or the CF KZbin Channel (1.75 million subscribers)? Seems like a no-brainer for a company that needs media right now.

YES! But isn't it beautiful, that we will all be watching all the heats with the same interest and not only wait for them to be finished to get to the final heat? I don't know if that was intended by Dave, but it for sure is an awesome side effect. I love it!

Hey Dave, Idea for the games broadcast to keep the consistent viewers and make the broadcast more enjoyable I think having content input into the breaks between events so there isn’t a lull of just a screen that says the schedule or whatever. You could do videos similar to your affiliate owner interview ideas or tours and all of various gyms. Or any sort of content that keeps you watching throughout the whole event. You could also bring back a making of the games series stuff where you have videos of how you and the team came up with events that were already completed.

Thank you for your content! I'm really enjoying the Athlete Interview series! Now that CrossFit is working closely with Goruck for the next couple years, have you ever thought about having an event similar to their Goruck Selection? Something where it would test their mental fitness for a very long duration? For example, kick off the Games with a 12 hour overnight event where they would need to do a workout every hour on the hour? But these workouts would be easier, it's more about the long duration test.

The whole Hyrox thing is a bit weird, while I respect it and even do some workouts that are similar, they are fun. Hyrox is just an event, or a workout. In my opinion. I fully believe that ANY games athlete could 100% do the hyrox event as an event, at the games. CrossFit is a sport, Hyrox is an event. Am I wrong? It is different.
@maxwilde9337

I've been training for Hyrox for over 3 years now and I'm a big Crossfit Fan too. Any games athlete could finish within the top few percent of serious Hyrox Athletes. But I think very few Games athletes could qualify for the ELITE 15 World Championships right now. Yes if Games Athletes dropped some mass and improved their Running times by minutes they'd have a chance. Can Hyrox Athlete's qualify for the Games right now? Outside of Mirijam Von Rohr I don't think anyone has a chance from a pure strength standpoint. Both CrossFit and Hyrox have a place.

That’s exactly how I saw it - Hyrox is just an event and coincidentally happens to feature lots of movements that I do regularly at CrossFit and none of the movements I’m still developing. I thought it was the perfect CrossFit event. The only way to make it better would be to replace all the running with swimming.

Can’t tell you how many Hyrox people I’ve come across over the years that diss on CrossFit. I find it a little entertaining when some of our current athletes go kick butt at their events. I also chuckle at any of the Hyrox vs CrossFit memes where Hyrox is poked at. Any way that someone moves their body and gets stronger is awesome, and I don’t actually have any beef with their events though.

Hey Dave, really enjoying your athlete interviews. It's a great way for the community at large to get to know the athletes beyond how they perform at competitions. I've heard you mention how much bigger of a venue Dickies Arena is, but when i was looking at seating capacity to compare Madison to the new arena it seemed fairly similar. Do you know if this is true or does Fort worth allow for a larger attendance? With how quickly the games sells out did CF HQ look at a venue that could hold a larger capacity? Thanks.

I see alot of buzz around the interviews and love them. My take on this is that I truly believe if CrossFit could legitimately get a block of time once per week for its own CrossFit sports center and have content like this on there it would be a hit. Also think it would go well if they had a multiple episode series that airs on ESPN leading up to the games showing inside the lives of each athlete. Do you think this will ever happen? And do you think this could grow the sport and bring in more prize money and sponsorship opportunities?

Hey Dave, have you ever thought about offering a limited "extra credit" unbroken workout in the games for like 5 pts? So it could allow ppl in an earlier event round to make up the difference to ppl in a later round in the same event; since its hard to judge how hard you have to do to stack up with athletes in later rounds. For example, so in each round of 10 athletes in a 4 round event; there could be an option for like 2 athletes within that round to finish the round and immediately do an unbroken challenge for an extra 5 pts. No rest in between and race to get the only 2 attempts to do extra credit. It could help them move up in the round, but it could also hurt their chances long term since they could burn out fast and impact other events.

Hey Dave, really enjoy your WIR and also loving the athlete interviews. I’m a female- to me, the answer of the “is it harder to be a Navy SEAL or CrossFit games athlete” seems different maybe for a female. To my knowledge no female has completed BUD/S (maybe I’m wrong, I’m not an expert). Do you think some female games athletes could complete BUD/S (if she was mentally like you stated up for the task) Or what would it take? Not trying to stir the pot, genuinely interested in your opinion as you have a unique perspective. I’d like to believe it can be done. Thank you.

Crossfit doing a global hyrox style competition around the world is a great idea. You can tie it in with the open. Anyone who gets to the quarterfinals can only enter the elite field and everyone else can only enter a scaled down 'fun version'. Anyone who has entered the open or is an affiliate gets a discount on entering. This would encourage more competitive people and people not currently in the crossfit community to enter the open.
