I think your own every day life mentality has to change, in order to have a certain accent and speech delivery. I was born and raised in West Yorkshire and yet I do not speak like the people around me, or like the people I grew up with. Many people assume I am from the South, due to my manner and pronunciation etc. I do not consciously try to sound Southern, I merely take care to speak clearly and evenly with good diction, and without using slang.

Yes, I'd agree with that.

Well done You may be proud of yourself but sad truth is that most people are too lazy to change anything in their life.

Jade, it has been a while since I last watched your content here on YT. I remember you got a little political during the Brexit "period" and I recall you speaking about how you lived in the UAE and even your dating preferences. I see you deleted the videos that revealed a bit more of who you are, a shame because they showed just how much of an interesting person you happen to be.

Same applies to here in the USA, there is a very educated sounding southern accent and a very regional uneducated sound. How is the American accent received in the UK? British English is very well received here, it's like you automatically sound intelligent!

I'm 30 and have been living in the UK for 17 years . Following my degree in account and finance I have been working in finance for 5 years but I am not very happy with my accent and have been trying to fix it but it doesn't seems to get better and I am very disappointed. I have tried get coaches help but it's ridiculously expansive. Can you help?

Regarding to accents, in Spain there s an untimely pop up commercial on this video where a female voice means to shout “ocho ocho ocho” (8, 8, 8) but she actually says “ottso, ottso, ottso” coz she s unable to speak in a rich european Spanish, as many Spaniards currently do. They love to fall short of speaking well (and it s not a bit of a dialect) Simply pathetic. Those in Hispanic America pronounce way way better the number eight, they simply and perfectly say “ocho” ( ‘oht-choh)

Would you do some more videos on different accents in the UK, please? It's extremely interesting.

Why did you delete the voice resonance video? I used to watch it at least a couple of time a week.

Ah, sorry about that I removed most of my old videos. I might be doing something with the accent related videos I took off, so get on my email list if you want to hear about that: jadejoddle.com/signup/

Hello. Very strange because we do not have such a thing as "good/bad accent" in France. Albeit there are different kinds of ways to speak, it is not about accent. So I might have a hard time grasping all the subtleties of English accent-wise. It's a shame I did not have the time to learn with you. Your "O" ooowww, is not easy to be used to, and all "H" hidden behind C and T, and so on ...

Some people are just... sloppy about the languages, just as some are with cooking. They seem to be fine with that other ppl get the sense of what they say, even with terrible pronunciation. They will not make any attempt to improve their accent, be it even for specific words that have been made aware they pronounce incorrectly.

Thanks a lot. Very interesting. I know that George Harrison got rid of his horrible Scouse accent and sounded in a more neutral way. Many actors got rid of their local accents too.
