Assassin's Creed Origin: if you stand Bayek in the desert for long enough he'll hallucinate from heat stroke and see raining beetles like the biblical plague for which you get an achievement.

In Shovel Knight, relatively early in the "Plague of Shadows" campaign, you get a cutscene of Mona practicing a dance by herself before she's interrupted by Plague Knight returning to base. Mona's dance actually loops indefinitely (i.e. until you ride the elevator down yourself), and you get an achievement called "Creep" for watching her dance in its entirety.

I have a Ph.D. (Biochemistry) and 2 Master's Degrees (Chemistry and Biology) and a Bachelor's Degree (General Genetics), but several of my colleagues only have Master's Degrees. Plus, every Engineer I have ever met, has told me that they'd never bother to get a Doctorate. It's irrelevant for practical application.

I think "The strong, silent type" from Oxenfree also deserves a spot on this list if you come around to making a community one! In order to get it, you need to not speak a single word the entire game. In a story driven game where the only option to not talk is to literally do nothing until the dialogue options fade away, keeping that up for the entire playthrough is... counter-intuitive to say the least.

Correction! The Final Fantasy job system was technically first introduced in the very first game, where you chose a job for each character when you started a new game, but this job could not be changed. Upgraded yes, but not changed. The first one where you were able to switch jobs at your leisure was 3. 2 did not have jobs at all and 4 had fixed pre-selected jobs for each character. So 5 was, depending on how you count, either the second or the third final fantasy game to use the job system, not the first, _Mike._

Deus Ex Human Revolution, you get the achievement 'The D Project' for letting the credits run to the end and witnessing the post-credit surprise. AKA you went and made a cuppa after completing the game.

From what I've heard, there's actually a pretty interesting reason *why* the series is called "Final Fantasy" The developers, at the time, were in such a critical situation that if the first game had failed, it would have literally been their final game.

Quite true...not only was Square facing bankruptcy if the game didn't sell (and, up to that point, the most successful RPG release was Dragon Quest), but the creator (Hironobu Sakaguchi) would've had to quit the gaming industry and go back to university. Personally, though, I think they've gone too far off the rails with it...they could've stopped at 6 with no great loss.

Patron of the Arts in Metro: Last Night, you get an achievement for watching the whole play. What about 7 times you worked hard, and didn't get an achievement you should have got. Happened to me a few times, but most recent one for me was getting three stars on all the speed zones, speed traps and danger zones in the main map for Forza Horizon 4. Took me ages to do too.

There WAS a pretty damn good game with *that* Prince on DS, except instead of Eli you got a floating masked wizard as a companion and it was a 2D platformer fully controlled through stylus commands. Someone randomly gifted me it when it came out and I remember being shocked that it was actually a solid game that was pleasant to play. Then again, with DS it is always a 50/50 chanse - all games on it are either shining gems or complete steaming garbage, and there's nothing in between.

The only other one I know of is “Old Softie” from “God of War: Chains of Olympus.” Before the final battle with Persephone, you meet with you daughter. She hugs your leg because she has missed you. Spend one minute with her before attempting to pry her off your leg and you will unlock the trophy. Not sure if the trophy for meditating a number of times in Assassin’s Creed Origins would count. It is a bit of doing nothing but pressing a button and watching time go by.

I can’t believe they didn’t include the achievement from The Saboteur, “Chain Smoker.” You literally have to stand idle while your character smokes a set amount of cigarettes. I literally got the achievement on accident because I left the game running when I left to get food.

Most of these achievements actually DO require getting to those points in the game, so it’s not ‘literally nothing’... I’m surprised the Darkness ‘Romantic’ achievement didn’t require watching the whole movie with Jenny - and it IS the actual movie. The Journey bit should include all of ThatGameCompany’s whole library of games since they all have a patience type trophy/achievement.

Wohoo! Prince of Persia 2008 gets mentioned. It is an interesting, with amazingly beautiful art and sound design. Also it supports EAX, so if you have Creative sound card, the sound is bouncing of all objects, which makes all those ruins even more climatic

Dead Island PS3 trophy... "How many days exactly?" Play Dead Island at least 28 days after starting it for the first time. This was the second trophy I got for that game. Five months after I started it for the first time.

How about in the _Deadpool_ game? At the very beginning of the game, you get TWO achievements free - "The first one's free!" and "The second one is also free...". You get the first one for making Deadpool stand up, and the second one is earned when Deadpool comments on the first one, in his classic, fourth wall-breaking style.

Terraria has several achievements where you just have to "survive" an event. That doesn't mean you have to avoid dying. You can go afk, and come back to discover you learned an achievement just for existing.

There is an achievement like this too in shovel knight plague of shadows, or maybe 2. When you have finished the 3rd level of the campaign, you’ll get back in the lab. But instead of rushing head first, you’re actually seeing mona (plague knight’s associate and crush) dancing all by herself. You can cut the sequence by tapping repeatedly on any button, but if you wait for around a minute beforehand, you get an achievement. There is also an achievement for staying during the full show on the « the end » screen (avoiding you spoilers ;) ), which lasts between 1:30 and 2 minutes.

What about Metro Exodus? In the Taiga mission, when you meet the admiral, if you talk with him and listen to his whole conversation until he falls asleep you get a 15G achievement for just letting him talk and pass out before leaving.

A similar thing happened to Regice in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire and their remakes. Now you had to go through the visual braille puzzles in the sealed chamber (using Dig on a specific spot and having Relicanth and Wailord in specific party slots) to break the seals on the Regis' chambers, and once you got to each chamber you had to solve another visual braille puzzle specific to that titan to unlock that battle; in Regice's case, once you closed the textbox that had the braille instructions, you had to wait for exactly two minutes with no inputs.

I feel you, Jane. It took forever to unlock the trophy. Journey players are so hurried! I mean, the mountain isn't going anywhere, friends! It will still be there 20 seconds later! Also, is that Nolan North (AGAIN!) voicing the Prince? Yup, it is. He really is everywhere.

Double Dragon Neon. Starting the game. You get a 1g achievement for this and there's a complimentary 9g achievement for beating the final boss, Skullmageddon.

There's one for Minecraft, which is called "Passing the Time", which is obtained by playing for 100 in-game days, which is easily obtained if you just leave the game on, then go on a vacation over the weekend. There's also one for Halo(5 I think?), in which you just stand there for a while. It was called "Pitchin' a tent".

I think you've talked about this one before, but I can't believe Stage Fright from Uncharted 4 wasn't on this list! When uncharted 4 was revealed (at E3 I believe?) there was an issue where the controller got disconnected, and Drake just stood there in-game while the people on stage tried to sort the issue out. If you stand still in the actual game, you get an achievement called Stage Fright that references this moment! I love when developers poke a little fun at themselves every once in a while!

In many of the Atelier games there is an achievement for failing the very first deadline you are given. The fastest way to do this is to play until you have the option to "rest" at your bed/couch/whatever and then rest continuously until you miss the deadline. I know for certain this happens in Ateliers Totori, Rorona, and Ayesha.
