I recommend everyone to find the book titled The Secret Doctrine of Wealth, it changed my life.

There are a couple of good suggestions on that list that I will definitely be checking out soon. I made a real effort to read more this year, I thought I read a decent amount but 57 books is incredible

Any recs from you? Obvs I don't really think numbers matter, I just like people to know I've read a bunch so I'm picking from a lot.

@@JoelSnape1 I particularly enjoyed The Maniac by Benjamin Labatut, In Ascension by Martin MacInnes, Agassi's biog 'Open', The Places In Between by Rory Stewart, and Conquerers by Roger Crowley - in fact, all of Crowley's history books are just fantastic, he's such a great writer.

I love when you do book recommendations! I've read a few you've recommended in other videos and I'm never disappointed. Thank you.

Oh that's great to hear! When I do these recommendation videos I'm sometimes a bit, who am *I* to be telling people what to read? But I'm glad they're helpful!

@JoelSnape1 I've gone out of my way to actually find your recommendations. I love reading but I usually don't end up finishing books and have made it a goal to actually finish more books, and the ones you have recommended are the only ones I've been able to finish and enjoyed the entire time. Last one I finished about a week ago was "We are Bellingcat" and that was amazing as well.

Finally, a list where I haven't seen any of the books. The Moonstone looks very interesting.

For 2025 one of my top 5 picks is Infrequent Frequencies Rare Resonance by G.E. Poole. Award-winning non-fiction, highly topical exploration of science, mysticism and consciousness. Completely unconventional lens on everything, practical guidance for negotiating through the coming times of turbulence, great filters, impacts of AI and inspiring hope for humanity.

I can recommend The Power of Bad: And How to Overcome It by John Tierney and Roy F. Baumeister if you haven't read it.

good list - just finished The Coming Wave by Mustafa Suleyman found of Deepmind. it is not one for those that are pessimism averse but i think it should be essential reading for many in the arts, medicine and industry - the implications for an artificial general intelligence are daunting both good and bad

Amazon's been recommending me this for a few months now, but I think this might tip me over the edge. It can't freak me out any more than Superintelligence (I hope)

@JoelSnape1 it is well worth it. My children are young and still in primary school. It will have real implications for them
