When I start the car in the morning, the engine starts right away. After only 10 seconds the engine starts to rumble as if it were running on three cylinders. But when I check the spark plug wires, everyone reacts. I smell gasoline strongly, there is water from the exhaust and black soot. When the car warms up after a minute, the rpms start to rise and the choke starts to react. The engine speed has stabilized at 2000 rpm and the engine is now running as it should. when the engine warms up, the rpm drops to 900 and everything is fine. the problem is only in the first minute. where the rpm doesn't want to go higher than 1500 and the engine starts to rattle irregularly. I put new spark plugs, all filters and oil. when I take the air box off the filter to get to the throttle. right before starting it is closed. after a while it opens to about 3-5mm and gradually opens as the engine warms up. but when in that problematic minute I help the throttle and open it with my finger, the engine revs up and it seems as if it was running on 4 cylinders and everything was ok even in that first minute. can you advise me where I should check? where could the problem be? must it be the carburetor or something else? the distributor? please advise me

Can it also cause the idling to drop super low?

That's what happening to my 98 honda civic ex. I just saw little oil leak inside distributor cap edges. I know I have replace my distributor oil seal but I rather buy new distributor. I think this is what affecting my idle very low and my car stall out when I stopped at red light when idle. But I can start my car with no problem but it starts go very low idle when car stop . So oil inside distributor cap could be causing affect my idle very low about stall my car when engine gets hot.

@@Bitcoin_Gold check and/or replace your fuel filter if you have over 30,000 miles on it. It may be clear enough to start, but picks up enough debris after driving a little while to cause rough/low idle and stalling.

@@Bitcoin_Golddid you fix it? sounds like your idle air control valve wasn't functioning properly
