There's something very "The Sims" about the way your character screams and clutches their head during that Frenzied Flame ending. Like they're very upset that they burnt a grilled cheese sandwich and just throw themselves on the floor in desperation.

In the Dishonored franchise the good ending is usually the hardest to get. But, if you’re already set on a high chaos run, the _worst_ ending requires a little extra leg work. And it’s only achievable if playing as Corvo, so if going for it randomly that cuts your odds in half. Not only do you have to kill every target, you have to go out of your way in the Dust District to kill both Paulo and Overseer Burns (despite the fact killing one makes you friendly towards the other). You need to kill Billie (even though she’s never hostile towards you) and present her corpse to Anton Sokolov. You also have to allow Stilton to attend the seance, when it’s much easier to kill him or knock him out. And finally, instead of walking 5 steps to revive Emily, instead you walk 10 steps to usurp the throne instead, ruling as a mad tyrant.

Also the "Star Wars Jedi Academy" - the split off into the bad ending is easy to do - simply kill you know who and you're down the path, but once you've done that, now instead of having to fight through the Sith on Korriban with the Jedi at your side, you have to fight both the Jedi and the Sith. Bc you're so evil, you can't just side with the baddies, you have to be the baddest baddie.

The parkour hell in Elden Ring to get down to the 3 fingers seems so hard because everyone starts the parkour on the wrong side, they start on the right side like in the footage shown in the vid. Go down the left side it's forward roll-forward jump-(turn camera around) forward jump-done. Edit: I didn't discover this, Fightin'cowboy has a guide on how to do this and %60 of the time it works every time.

Tales of Xillia 2 isn’t even the only Tales game to have a much worse ending locked behind extra work and a hard fight. At the end of Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of a New World, the main character Emil is taken over by the mind of the spirit Ratatoskr and turns on the party. What ensues is a boss fight against previous protagonist Lloyd Irving, and your love interest Marta. Or so it seems; Emil is actually allowing this to happen so that he can be sealed away in order to save the world, without his friends feeling bad about having to do that to him. This is, in fact, a fight you’re supposed to lose; Lloyd is extremely strong and Marta supports him with her own magic. When you do lose, Emil is subdued, and you have the *real* final fight, against Ratatoskr inside your own mind. But if you WIN the fight, everything goes horribly wrong. Marta is badly hurt, and Emil, thinking he’s gone overboard and *killed* her, goes all Romeo and Juliet, and stabs himself with his own blade before she can wake back up. All that’s left of him is a magic gemstone. So the world is saved, but everyone comes out of the experience traumatized or dead.

Granted, the actual really good ending in Elden Ring, where you marry Ranni and get her ending, is probably more time consuming and more difficult to get to. Especially with no guide because there's so many tiny things you must or must not do.
@SolaScientia

I haven't touched Elden Ring in a while (got burned out on it), but the lore still hasn't clicked for me and I haven't really gotten attached to any of the characters. Ranni actually annoyed me greatly when she showed up to kick off phase 2 with Rennala. I really didn't appreciate that it was her who crashed the party and brought her mother back. Bosses can bring themselves back all they want for 2nd and 3rd phases (and more), but if there's another NPC (or thing) involved in the process, then it's nice if they stick around to get killed as well. It's less appreciated when they show up, bring the boss back, and then eff off again. I think I'm going for the Age of the Duskborn ending with Fia since it's the closest to the Usurpation of Flame ending in DS3, which is my preferred ending for that game as well.
@shad03void99
@shad03void99 6 ай бұрын
@PaulaKiesling It's a magic snare that Ranni had placed on Rennala in the event someone tried to kill her. Honestly, it's more on you for thinking that you would get such an easy boss with no string attached. I actually enjoyed it since it shows that Ranni cared enough about her mother to put up some sort of protection.
@SolaScientia
@SolaScientia 6 ай бұрын
@@shad03void99 I wasn't thinking it was an easy boss fight. I'm not new to FromSoftware games and I knew it was too easy to be just a single phase fight (their boss fights are rarely that straightforward anyway). I was annoyed that someone else showed up to the party. Even now after doing some of Ranni's questline I still don't especially like her; certainly not well enough to do her ending. That said, none of the NPCs in Elden Ring are particularly memorable except for a couple; Patches being one because he's Patches. It was easy to get deep into the lore of the Souls games and Bloodborne, but Elden Ring hasn't clicked for me much at all. 40-something hours into it and I'm pretty burned out and haven't touched it in months.

I’m surprised Undertale isn’t on this list. The Genocide route requires you to go out of your way to kill _everything_ in sight, and it has the two most powerful bosses in the whole game. And all of that for your good ending to always be corrupted afterward.

Not just that, but it goes out of its way to make most of the unexperience decidedly un-fun. It's just grinding against monsters you can easily kill with no challenge, most of the bosses are one-hit kills with no real challenge. It really makes the point that if you're doing this, its purely because you have the need to see everything, not because its inherently fun or rewarding.

I'm not talking about the underlying concept, either. I actually enjoy playing as the good doctor and have never wiped out London's population myself, believe it or not. It's the endings I'm criticizing - being with a forced "love interest" for all eternity is not that great of a reward for going through the slow, grindy pain that is a no-kill run, when the alternative is "Become a total badass while actually having fun playing the game".

Dead Rising's worst ending is tough to get when you first boot up the game. Where Carlito hedges it all on bombing the mall. Having to not only survive the story missions and hard psychopaths you're forced to interact with to proceed to this point, *but doing it from level 1*. Something you'd probably not do on your first playthrough. AND THEN you have to wait around for the bomb timer to run out.

For ME2: What's even harder, is to make a ME2 run where only Shepard ad two squadmates survive, to make the bleakest entry for ME3. For this you realyl have to plan this out. Now I have decent planas for this... but man, did have to put thought into this n the past XD

Especially if you want to cherry-pick the survivors to get the worst possible ending, e.g., Morinth and someone you plan to kill in ME3. For example, if, like me, you consider the Low EMS Destroy ending to be the worst, you could have Morinth and Tali survive ME2, then side with the Geth on Rannoch (killing Tali in one of the saddest deaths in the series, without sparing her replacement, who’s on the doomed fleet), then kill the Geth anyway as part of the Destroy ending.

This is bugged and so the names will not appear on the wall if you kill them in ME3. Miranda is an easy one to let surivive and kill in ME3 and the second one is also most of the time Tali

I remember The Dig. Back in the 90s, I used to pick up used games on flea markets, and I would play LucasArts adventures with a friend. Normally, the two of us could figure out any game, but this was the first one we needed to seek out a guide to, and in the days before this information was at the end of your fingertips. Phenomenal game, though. At least the bad ending wasn't much extra work - it's right at the end of the game, so exploring both endings requires only a properly placed save and a little extra curiosity.

I like the fact how the alternate NG+ Dead Space Remake ending is theorized to be a Marker-driven Isaac retelling the events of the USG Ishimura incident to his psychiatrist on Titan Station, in between the events of Dead Space 1 and 2. It's even supported by the fact that Daniels never reacts differently to Isaac's altered dialogue lines after obtaining and placing all of the Marker Fragments. Essentially, it basically boils down to subsequent NG+ playthroughs are, depending on your own choices, either Isaac having regained a semblance of sanity, retelling the proper story, or Isaac when he's overcome by the Marker, retelling the story with his mind twisted and warped by the Marker. Part of the reason why I love the game so much.

if you are ever going to do another edition of this again, then I will suggest the final ending from the chrono trigger remake: You litterally have to do everything else in the game, finish every quest, and unlock every other ending to be told that lavos still lives and is still bond to Schara, right before killing your entire party minus Magus, who ends up somewhere else with amnesia. And THEN you are told that the kingdom of Guardia falls only 5 years after Chrono marries Marle and the Masamune mysteriously disappears. In other words: ALL YOUR HARD WORK IS FOR NAUGHT!! I know that there is a sequel in chrono cross, but a surprise cliffhanger could be handled better than to kill you and render all your hard work null.

The worst save file you can import however, is one with a single living squadmate. It's very difficult to do, at the end of the Suicide Mission you need one of your two surviving companions to be a non-loyal Zaeed. Then you do his loyalty mission in the postgame, choose to save the workers and then leave him to die in the exploding refinery. And there you have it, a living Shepard with a single living companion, ready to completely break ME3's storyline apart.

Mind, the entertainment industry's political climate, even then, meant there was no real chance that Willow would have chosen her ex-boyfriend over her new girlfriend, given the option. Wouldn't make a ton of sense for his vision of Nicole to go from happy lovely gf to 'I'm literally going to kill you' if he got that deep under the Marker's influence.
