Great video and much appreciated. Spent many a night at the Joe Dodge Lodge, until it became too expensive. Now we stay in North Conway. And, by the way, there once was a fellow who was their head cook at the visitor center, Haven't heard from him in a few years, but he still remains a friend. He had the longest tenure with the Appalachian Mountain Club, until his retirement. He was with them longer even than Joe Dodge, himself. Be well, stay safe. 🥾

Well, I'm feeling home state pride this morning. 😊 2 Maine hostels made Molly's list! You're doing an incredible job with these hiker resource videos. 👏 If you ever retire Mojo as a trail name, P.C. should be the next. P.C. = privacy curtain 😂 Have a spledid new year, and thank you for the wonderful content. ✌️

Thanks for this review. Very helpful. I spent one night at the Around the Bend Hostel. I had the Judge’s Room. Very comfortable and private. Owner was nice. Getting a ride to the hostel from High Tower Gap was most helpful but expensive. The Green Dragon is tops. Spent two nights there. Very pleasant, comfortable, and the shuttles to trail heads or town was great. I hope Ziggy has succeeded. May you a New Year full of wonderful adventures, peace, good health, and good fortune. Wishing you a mighty fine life. Happy Trails!

Thank you 1024 Pete! Everyone gets the names of hostels confused. The Judge's Room is at Above the Clouds Hostel. But you are correct, Lucky (out hostel big brother) is so great!

Thanks for the video. The Maine Roadhouse and the Jens are the best-#1. Shaws is cool because its the last or first depending on your direction- and yes the reputation of service is well deserved.

Thanks for another great Molly-made presentation! And what's with all the introverts making the best and most personable thru-hike vlogs?😉From what I've seen from following many AT thru-hikers on KZbin, almost all hostel experiences are shown in a positive light. That being said, did you ever encounter a hostile hostel?

We heard rumors of a guy who had a hostel in PA who was creepy especially to single female hikers. We stayed clear of it.

Very interesting. Good video. Was wondering is there any hostels that are cash only? Are tips expected? do people tip?

It seems like on-site resupply is a huge advantage so you don’t have to find a town or store if you don’t want to. Hopefully prices were reasonable on resupply items!

Yes, it definitely makes resupplying easier!

Not to be negative but were there any hostels that were really bad.

I stayed at probably more than 20 hostels over the course of my thru hike. My top 7 were almost exactly in line with Mojo's, with the one exception being the Green Dragon, only because I didn't stay there, but it seems pretty awesome. As far as bad hostels, I only had one experience that I'd consider bad, and maybe a few other that I'd consider disappointing. They all try in their own way, some more than others, and it definitely shows. The reviews on FarOut are usually pretty accurate for identifying hostels that have different vibes. Some hikers gravitate toward party hostels that are louder, and less well kept, while other hikers may gravitate toward hostels that have more rules or guidelines. I prefer not to mention specific hostels that I found to be unsavory, since that may have more to do with my personal preferences, where other hikers would not have any complaints.
