Nice amp and some good tips. I like pinch harmonics, but they can be over used, much like a whammy bar can be overused. Some famous shredders out there like to pull a pinch harmonic and then hit the whammy bar. That's cool the first fifteen or so times, but then it gets old. Haha. IMO anyway. : )

My pinched harmonics sound best unplugged. Is it about my amp/effects settings or my pickups/tone-knob etc.?
@rockongoodpeople11 ай бұрын
Hi - without hearing them its hard to diagnose the issue u r having. They should be a little easier to sound by adding some overdrive or distortion. I know technique is important and this video nailed it. But, how important is your rig? Are certain amps, pickups, guitars better? Are tone settings, pickup selection, and pedals important. I have. Zaak Wylde Signature Series Mini stack and an MXR Full Bore Metal petal. My guitar is a Jackson with a Floyd Rose. All good stuff yet my sound comes no where near even some of the 9 year olds shredding on KZbin. Setup must be relevant as well. I guess I’m looking to defer my issue to equipment to eliminate me still sucking after 30 years behind the neck.
@rockongoodpeople2 жыл бұрын
Hello Angelo and thanks for watching this video, so appreciated. When talking about guitars and amps often its not better or worse but just different. Its very subjective as everyone has their own personal preference when it comes to amps and guitars. However, you can pick out certain qualities like guitar fit and finish - as some companies are definitely have a higher level than others. Or you can most often say that a well made quality $2000 guitar will play and feel better that a $200 starter guitar. Dont compare your sounds to the youtube players as often times players online double and triple track their guitars to thicken them and they add all sorts of effects. You want to get happy with your tone and there is a lot you can do to experiment. Setup and gear choice is relevant, but so is technique and what is in your hands and your heart. Maybe look at how your pedals are hooked up - the order - are they in the FX loop or in front of the amp. If you are using a high gain amp, then why are you also using a full bore metal pedal? Is the pedal in front of the amp or in the FX loop - all these things make a difference for sure. And you want to experiment to find what sounds best to your ears. Let me know your thoughts. And be sure to take a good look around the channel as we have tons of killer content and lessons - lots of fun stuff. Enjoy and stay tuned - lots more content coming soon. Hi - the pinch harmonic technique takes a little bit to get down - be sure and have the tip of your finger string the string same time as the pick is hitting it - watch as I show that up close in the video. Put your guitar on the back pickup or hum bucker pickup if equipped and add some gain - also try some different places on the string to hear the harmonic - try all these as outlined in the video and with practice and patience you will get it - u can do it! Hello and thank u for watching this video and for ur kind words, most apprecitaed. For this video as far as the signal chain I plugged the guitar straight into the front of my Paul Reed Smith MT15 tube amp and I used a PRS 1x12 cabinet miked up with a share SM57 mike. I was on the lead channel of the amp with the gain about 65% - and as far as effects I just used a splash of delay and reverb in the effects loop of the amp via a Keeley Caverns pedal - that is it - very simple setup.
