I just came from a backpacking trip and there were a lot of first timers that for some reason didn’t let us know that they had never even camp before but they sign for the trip… one of the biggest mistakes they made was that when asked about help for tent assembly they say they got it … need to be MORE HUMBLE FOR GOD’S SAKE! Long story short it poured afternoon well into the night and basically they got a pool inside and after the rain stopped the condensation made everything worse … next morning went talking around the fire is when the truth came out… needless to say they won’t ever forget that trip… 😅😅😅

What are the most common mistakes you see beginner backpackers make? I also want to call out the 6th point in this video again and the importance of bringing the right gear. Beginners often bring too much gear but it's also really important that they bring the right gear. If you don't what that is, the gear list in the description is a good place to start. If you need more details I'd recommend going on AllTrails to see the current and future weather conditions and plan for the worst. Weather can be unpredictable in the mountains. That however does not mean bringing 5 changes of clothes like I did 🙂

I disagree with what you say about the gear. Too many hikers do not bring the proper gear, enough clothes and food because they listen to videos like this. With all due respect, I keep helping people in trouble because they do not have what is required. I see people on every single hike I do that don't have proper gear because they keep hearing that their pack must be super light.

Yeah that can definitely be a problem. I'm not sure if you got to the part about bringing the right gear but if someone doesn't know enough to know what gear they should be bringing it's better to bring some extra things they don't need vs not at all. I agree

@@chaseadventures just that some people don't know enough. I think that pack weight is something very abstract. Depending on your shape, level of training, man or women, type of hike, length of hike... the base weight can very à lot.
