I've come to the conclusion that we're all overcomplicating our audio setups. We don't need expensive gear, intense filters, EQ, or anything else, we just need a decent microphone setup correctly. If you focus on the basics, you'll sound great, and when you sound great you'll be more confident in your videos or streams. If you want to support the channel, consider checking out Epidemic Sound: share.epidemicsound.com/streamschemeAPR24

Difference was night and day for me swapping from my at2020 condenser to a fifine dynamic microphone since my area kinda sucks for audio. I'll still use the condenser one someday, but kinda regret not just going with the cheaper fifine from the start...especially since I wouldn't have had to buy an interface to go with it since that one is both usb and xlr.
@depressedwatermelon4117 ай бұрын
Spent 100 bucks total for my mic setup and it sounds great. Cheap fifine mic with their audio thing for xlr and boom clear audio and no echo or anything good out the box. U dont need the 300 dollar xlr interface if u just want clear audio bruh it’s seems about as important as how expensive your xlr cable is now if you want to go crazy with effects and do other things sure but most people just want to sound good.

4 years ago I was told to buy the blue yeti that was a mistake especially during covid and I didnt understand the difference between dynamic and condensers thank God I found actual audio channels and not sponsored youtubers soon after

what about the fact that some people reccomend a mic, but it needs an expensive preamp to sound good and usually you dont realise that until after you bought the expensive mic, so now you got an expensive mic, but cant afford the expensive preamp and now the mic has white noise all the time
@StreamScheme8 ай бұрын
Ya know what’s wild, how often this happens with the Shure Sm7b And how people buy it without understanding it is an XLR mic
@lilScruffers8 ай бұрын
@StreamScheme i got a preamp, its a volt 1 and it has so much white noise i wanna cry, my sm7db has so much noise 😢

You poor soul… I use mine with the Roland Bridgecast, and that supplies enough but I still use a cloudlifter to help lol
@theoutsiderjess18698 ай бұрын
If you have a really good audio interface you will not need a preamp. There also cheaper audio preamps nowadays I bought one from amazon to use with my Rode Podmic when I needed to get surgery and couldnt strain myself to record audio. It sucks they left out that info as that is very important information to have when buying mics
@lilScruffers8 ай бұрын
@theoutsiderjess4869 i think my volt 1 is an audio interface that also has preamp functionality i think, but it still has a ton of white noise :( cant get audio into the yellow on true peak in obs

I've been using the AT-2035 for about 4 years now, and it's done fairly well. I can probably tweak the output a bit, but for the most part, it's served me well, both on stream and when doing voice acting.

Trying to find a setup that works for a couple streaming or at least one of us streaming and the other participating from another computer setup. Having trouble getting a setup that works. She has a elgato wave dx and right now i'm just using a headset mic but my voice keeps coming in over her mic. we sit facing the same direction but are about 5 feet apart. We can never find a good tutorial for this type of situation but find lots of people asking about this.

Nvidia Broadcast's noise removal does wonders for hiding background noise, like my furnace kicking in all winter or me shivering if the furnace was off.

Hey Eljay thank you for this awesome video! Can I ask what about microphone picking up audio from speakers causing echoes? I know I can use headphones to eliminate this problem, but I was just wondering if there's any filters/settings to play with if I don't want to use headphones?
@StreamScheme8 ай бұрын
You need a really good dynamic mic, speakers far away from it, and a crap load of time balancing it all Essentially, the speakers need to play sound but the mic needs to be set up carefully to not catch it. So balance speaker volume and mic setup. Or wear headphones.

Using the Elgato Wave: 3 now and I love it. Free software makes it easy to control unwanted sounds.
@StreamScheme8 ай бұрын
Just to clarify the software that comes with the Elgato wave products isn’t free :) You need to buy their equipment and only use their equipment. Steelseries Sonar, and VoiceMeter are free software that does what wavelink does, can be used with any microphone. And also OBS has most of what Wave offers built in now and works with any microphone.

Opinions on the new Wave Neo mic? or just spend a little more to get the Rode Pod Mic or Wave DX? (But with those mics, I'm gonna need an audio interface like the Wave XLR) What do you guys think?

Somebody please help me.... I am having a really hard time with my microphone picking up my breathing. And I breathe sort of hard but not that hard. And my microphone just picks up every breath I take so it sounds like a breathing. Simulator when I make a video. Help
@pantheis8 ай бұрын
The noise gate filter should take this out, unless you're breathing as loudly as you'd be talking. If you sniffle a lot, try to limit that while recording/streaming, or add a noise filter (RTX Voice is excellent at removing sniffles) ahead of your noise gate. I'm not an expert at any of this, but just things I've found that worked for my own streaming setup.
