Baffled by the last pick. I loved the story but had some trouble getting used to the combat system. But I got the hang of it

TMS is one of those legendary PR blunders that kills the entire game. On par with "legends" like DmC. No matter how good TMS may be on it's own, the reality is, that they first anounced this as a crossover of SMT and FE, showing the SMT protagonists and all the FE protagonists from every game in the series. Then proceeded to not have any SMT elements, just Persona elements, ignored all the FEs besides Awakening and the Marth games, and set the game in a setting that appeals to neither SMT fans or FE fans. This was just blatantly false advertisement on their part and the fact that they only showed off the game 2 months before the release shows that they knew it. Like, I do feel sorry for the devs, as if I turn off my SMT and FE fan brain, I can see that they made an objectively good game, but ironically I think that to truly enjoy TMS you have to be a fan of neither of the series that it is crossing over, which is like, a failure that understandably murdered the game's sales. For the record, I did play it, got it used to not contribute to them having the idea to pull another stunt like this, and like you said, solid gameplay, but just... misguided vision of what the people that they marketed this to would enjoy in everything else.

@Gogito4 agree with you it was death by PR. It was their own fault with the way they advertised the game. Then you play it... and realise it's not what was advertised. Like you said it was one of these games where you have to take your SMT and FE head off. But tbh it's far to difficult to ignore isn't it with the major PR blunder 😅

I tried wild arms 1 and I was so annoyed by how frustrating it was to find my way around the world without a walkthrough. I had no idea where to go half of the time. Is part 2 any better?

You'll find a bit of the same in Wild Arms 2 tbf. I find a lot of the old school JRPGs from the PS1 and SNES can be a lil bit confusing in regards to traversal 😅
