Joel I have two big requests: 1. Make the zombie health bars an on/off option. Kind of breaks some immersion. 2. Make zombie AI better so they will attack downward, upward, and destroy your supports if you are suspended above them and they can't get to you. I know this one is easier said than done, but I think it's necessary.

The zombies already go for supports and tunnel into basements. Trees are still safe but less stable for building and you can't have any pillars that aren't trees.

Yeah, toggle on/off was the first thought I had on seeing it. I don't want that on my screen, but so long as there's an option to switch it off it won't matter. Now here's hoping this obsession with 'dungeon houses' level-builders' 'end of level bosses' and so on doesn't turn 7d2d into just another Mario game...

I'm actually really liking the dungeon style houses. There are far too many generic buildings in the game with the exact same layout, so it'll be nice to stumble upon one of these houses now and again. Hopefully they are quite scarce, or even tied into quests as Joel suggested for the mushroom house, then it'll be more rewarding when you find one. The boss he mentioned will probably just be an irradiated cop or something.

Could the breathing animation be tied to stamina? Like it seems a bit silly for the characters to be breathing super hard when they're just standing. It'd be pretty cool if the animation gets more pronounced as you run lower on stamina.

Great Job! I hope you can release A17 this march! Here's what I want from 7DTD before full release: - Looting and grabbing hand animations - Drawer/Door/Container Cover opening anims - Stamina based breathing anims - Slower running (I think dashing speed is too fast compared to the animation) - Ability to see your body whilst in first person perspective - HP bar should be optional for immersion purposes - Crosshair ON/OFF switch - Lockpicks and Backpacks - Fishing (it is a good food source winter or summer) - Simpler yet more informative HUD (hunger and thirst bars) - Bigger res textures for terrains, it looks unrealistic and ugly for now. Or maybe more cell-shade effects for more pleasant/smooth graphics. - More rewarding headshots (zombies should die with hs) if it will be too easy then balance it with population or more aggresive behavior. YOU HAVE DONE GREAT JOB SINCE 2013. THE SELL RECORDS IS A PROOF OF THAT. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY WORK ON TECHINAL BUGS AND FIXES, MORE OPTIMIZATIONS AND GRAPHICS. Dunno if i like the health bar thing. What fun is it to know its not dead since the bar is still there instead they're just knocked down needing to be finished off and you don't realize it and get attacked when you turn your back on them. I think it removes some of the immersion.

I have found that the animation of the zombies are different when they die as oppsed to just being knocked down. See if you can spot it next time you play. =)

I myself have no problem knowing when zombies aren't dead after having played for 700+ hours in the game (playing it when the ground was Minecraft style), but I really have no interest in a thing that removes some of the challenge of the game. Something learned with experience such as when they're dead and not dead should be left alone for the player to learn and become a better survivor. What would be the point of the animation of them getting knocked down and appearing dead at all when you have a bright red bar telling you they're not dead? I really do appreciate the friendly tip though Sven.

I completely agree. Health bars seems like a bad idea in terms of in game immersion. Normal zombies are pretty easy kills anyway later on in the game and i dont want hand holding from a game like this. Its also sometimes part of the excitement when you try to kill some of the more difficult enemies when you dont know when they are going to die. How is this going to work with other players?. Setting is going to be in the server modded option to turn this functionality on/off? On my gameplay health info stays off if i can change it.

I like the idea of the weapon mods. And it makes more sense that we wouldn’t find gun parts everywhere. We’d find complete guns. But I love that the higher the weapon level the more mods you can add. That’s awesome! What’s with the new weapon level thing? It only shows one number. Not like a lvl 120 gun, it’s just 6 or something.

Joel, you should add a crawling mode for the player to go through 1 block high spaces, which could add to level design when creating buildings with ventilation. Another thing I think needs attention is early game melee weapons. There's just not enough of them and the ones we do have (2), feel like hitting a zombie with foam a few days into the game.

honestly id enjoy beating a zombie with an actual stick, and i dont think people know that the first actual weapon u can get is Bones, Smacking things with bonees, although i would like some more craftable weapons, because i feel once you can craft a higher tear club or machete, you dont go back to the old ones, id like some new options for example a whip to down zombies if you hit the legs, a grappling hook would be sweet, use it on blocks or if u use it on zombies you can reel them in or hang them up, it would be sweet if u could get some sort of, a weed whacker, and have it count as a motorized blade weapon, id love to shred zombos while keeping my lawn clean,

You guys should definitely add some new weapons like a bolt action rifle that holds 5 rounds, a double barreled shotgun either regular or sawed off, an ar15 styled rifle, a machine pistol like either a Mac 10 or 11, perhaps an lmg, and a new handgun like a Colt or sig maybe even a Glock just some suggestions. :)

Suggestion, with those new empty shelves could you make them into a storage system where you can put items in it and then you see that item model so you know what you are keeping on your shelves. As then players could make a tool room, or weapon room and see exactly what is on each shelf.

That would be a great addition. Perhaps have it similar to the "Wall Displays" of Fallout 4. Each item has a certain number of spaces it needs, so you could have a big gun on one shelf, or many stacks of ammo.

Viral Moon highly doubtful for many reasons. 1) takeing the modders work can be iffy especially with a game, they sell. Basicly think of it like them stealing the hard work of others with no pay. 2)even though I'm sure modders won't sneak any racist or offence stuff it's quite possible to do. Imagine looting a house finding a hidden door with a bunch of racist stuff on the other side. (Has happened in other games before) 3)they would rather have full controll of the process. As to avoid any drama and backlash.

I think a better solution would be to implement workshop support, so poi makers could submit their designs to steam, and players could download these pois and enable/disable them when creating a new world.

Yeah, I agree with a lot of others. I think the health bars should be an option. Part of playing the game was having to always remember to double tap when they're on the ground. Haha, I can't remember how many times my wife and I got surprised from a zombie we thought we killed but actually was just on the ground and then got back up.

8 shells and none in chamber. Load one into the chamber and you are 7/8. Fire and load another into the chamber 6/8 and one in the chamber. You can then add 2 shells. Not what is going on in the game though.

I like everything you are bringing to the table on Build 17. I would love to see some more customisation for these new option. LIke for instance the ability to turn on or off the health bars. Sometimes I am looking for a multiplayer exp. and would like to see health bars but sometimes I want to play solo and I like a minimal gui so having a way to have the health bars not show and everything else fade to a clear screen when it's not important would be great.

I love the idea, in theory, of a dungeon crawl for each house but I'm not sure it makes total sense in a voxel game. What's keeping you from just stacking frames to get to the roof or just ax down all the blockades? I guess I'll have to play it and see.

I'm amazed that you're finding it smoother to run now. I never had any lag before A16, now it lags frequently on single-player (on a machine with well above the recommended stats (let alone the minimum)).

Phoenix Ward of course, of course. But a game can only do so much. And well for people with lower laptops or rigs that can barely reach a comfortable fps (i'm on around 20-30)fps. We're more then happy. But fret not, i'm sure joel will find a way to accommodate your beastly rig/laptop. :)

It would be cool if the zombies could move their necks around like their looking left and right and maybe they can spot you that way, and if they could look up and down depending on where the players position from the zombie is. EDIT: Also, when you're searching things like a fridge for example, you could make it have an opening animation and possibly see what is inside. For example, you loot a fridge and the door opens and you find chili inside it. Make it so you can see the chili inside the fridge in the world too and when you search it, it disappears. Likewise for other foods and drinks and containers.

Will it be possible to turn off the enemy health bars? Some of my favorite moments playing have been yelling back and forth with my friends because a difficult zombie won't die and we are constantly having to fall back, but being able to watch his health bar drop and knowing how close he is to dieing would take a lot of the panic out of getting ambushed and retreating in my opinion..

I think this would be fun, more so if you can also adjust biomes(how much/how large) because then you could be playing Alaskian 7DTD(would be hella fun/hard...2 bloody hours of light or something) or whatever. Playing with sunrise and sunset that is on par with your real life times(for rise and set).

That would be cool, my very first game I played, I spawned in the snow biome in the static map, and my gosh it was a lot of fun, found it so thrilling to have to find warm clothes and sit by a campfire to stay warm. Maybe someday we will get the ability to make our own "random gen" maps, which when finished, we will automatically get the seed name to share with others!

Joel, your videos always make me super excited to get my hands on the next alpha. I LOVE the health bars. But since some people don't like them, maybe you can make them an optional setting. This way everyone will be pleased. I see where your coming from, but for me and my friends its just been super frustrating not knowing exactly how many times I need to hit one for it to die.

I can't wait to see the school bus in game, maybe it could be torn apart to build a fully functional bus that can be upgraded. ;P I have a few (dozen) ideas... for both vehicles and weapons, and new ammo types. Could civilian and military vehicles be added to the game as a chassis, or in one of the 3 different stages of damage, but with the player capable of repairing them, adding engines, transmissions, wheels, and armor plates to each vehicle? Possible Vehicle types include Military: Buggy Military Jeep (aware of dev's plan to add...) Military Jeep 4 door Humvee military troop/transport truck APC Tank Civilian: Sports Motorcycle 2 door Compact Hatchback 4 door Compact Hatchback Compact Sedan (exists already...) Sedan Luxury Sedan Limo Minivan Civilian Jeep 2 door Civilian Jeep 4 door SUV Pickup Truck Sports car Muscle Car Supercar Service & Emergency Response: Police Cruiser (most common at police stations) Police SUV (most common at police stations) Police Pickup Truck (most common at police stations) Ambulance (most common at hospitals) Fire Truck (most common at fire stations) Tow Truck (most common at junkyards and car dealers, and has ability to tow vehicles) Rollback Tow Truck (most common at junkyards and car dealers, and has ability to tow vehicles) Box Truck School Bus (aware of dev's plan to add...) As long as you can turn it off, who cares? I like that I will be able to know how much HP cops, radiated, etc. have and how much damage I'm doing, but I won't want to keep it on.

They cannot put realistic visual damage on zombies for every bullet and melee hit to visually calculate your effective damage. So the only way to see how bad the injuries are, a damage bar is needed.

I do hope they make it an option not only does it take away from the not knowing how much more it Will take to kill a zombie and the is it dead or just lieing there, it also looked tacky and cluttersome on screen.

"Don't listen to the haters" makes it seem like there are more than there really are. Most people are just frustrated that they arn't getting the updates they want, even though they still enjoy the game.

When is A17 coming out? Really cool work so far. Zombie health bars being able to be switched on and off would be good though. More types of weapons would also be good.

Mushroom farms don't really need that kind of watering/irrigation apart from the first time prepping the substrate. Seems like a bit of overkill to set up that kind of system unless it was already in place and it was just converted to mushroom farming. EDIT: **unless you are in a very very dry environment, then it might require that kind of watering.

Joel always do a great job and had an idea to give you if you can add music equipment or turntables inside some houses that suddenly start to sound and appear zombies, it would be great to have new challenges and surprises. hug and happy holidays :D

13:40-14:00 gave me an idea- What about decaying buildings or at least weak floors that need reinforcement? It could be cool walking around some weakened wooden structure and having it fall from beneath your feet, or making traps for zeds and other players.

This is a thing we hear a lot from FP, "Here we have fixed a thing we made poorly in the first place.". Perhaps take your job seriously enough to demand that such half ass work does not get done in the first place? Maybe hire people that can apprehend the nature of the project and accurately and efficiently see it made real.

Will you rework the entire combat and interaction system? Like a real combat system.. for example Dead Island, Dying Light, L4D and those action based games. Because I think the existing combat system is very clunky. Strange movement, hit detection and everything. I know 7d is a sandbox game and maybe wery hard to do, but the combat elements just annoy me sometimes. This is not supposed to be hate or something.. just my opinion wich maybe influences the devs.

Honestly, with how everything is looking rn, we barely have character animations and u want em to make something like Dying light xD, i agree i love the swing animations, but thats kinda what makes this game so special yknow? id think it would lose its charm if it had that type of attack animation, altho power attacks r beast IMO

the only complaint I have whatsoever is how certain weapons feel strange to use. The sledgehammer and machete work in a specific way, and while you get the hang of it eventually, they're somewhat odd in terms of gauging the specific range in which they'll make contact with the target.

Yeah, the weapons in dying light have feedback to them. Like, you hit something, you know you hit hard. 7D2D not so much. It feels like a counter strike animation where it's a flat rendering in front of your screen, because you have no impact when hitting things.

7 days to die is their first game, so I doubt we could see new 1st person anims overhaul, but maybe if they can hire new people who's good at anims designing maybe it could until we get it to beta release. but still the game still in alpha which is still had a lot to improve over time.

I noticed you couldn't interact with the empty cabinets and I was wondering if that could be fixed so you could store things in them, and maybe putting stuff in them could make the doors close, or you could whack it with the stone axe to repair it.

maybe even add a bayonetta for weapons like the ak? You could attach it using the assemble screen? I love the ak by the way, best weapon in the game! :D Edit: Please add some way to farm brass, since you cant mine it, and have to find it or buy it from the traders.. This is the only thing missing to make unlimited ammo.

man, i cant be the only one that likes the weapon parts, wish they kept it, and just added another option to augment, instead of assemble, theres just something about finding and making your gun, that always made it a lot more unique to me, id really miss that... i hope the fun pimps could reconsider, keeping the part assembly and add an augment option for the guns. Like if u agree!
