Your cinematography and story telling is just immaculate. The music, the shots and the perfect blend of narration and vlogging is just… wow. I moved to the PNW last year and I’m endlessly fascinated by the vast natural beauty here. Unfortunately chronic illness has limited my mobility so I live vicariously through videos like yours and dream of a future where I can do those things again. I won’t be missing a single video of yours going forward. Thank you.

Don’t give up! Same for me. Chronic sickness for years. Finally this summer I began to feel better. I feared I would never get my muscle tone back after extended time sitting in a chair bc of lack of energy and full time nausea. I started slow, but it picked up gradually and now I feel youth in my step! I went for a walk beside the sea for the first time a couple days ago since I moved to the Olympic Peninsula 3 years ago. But I know the lonely feeling of physical weakness. Videos such as these have helped me survive. They can really soothe a heavy heart. I hope you’ll feel better soon! 😊🙋🏻♀️

Appreciated your account of the trail and the beautiful video clips. Brought back beautiful memories of when I hiked it with my then 11-year-old daughter. This hike was easily in the top ten. As you accurately portrayed, cable cars, bridges, and staircases served to break up the at times slow pace of mud and roots. In our case, we searched out or built many fishing rope and driftwood swings to pass the time in camp or waiting for the tides. È

Thanks for sharing. You are bringing back so many memories. I’m 69 years old. I did this trail with my ex Brian , way back in 1990 when we were 35 years old. We did Port Renfrew to Bamfield. It took us 10 days. We were trapped in our tent on the beach for 3 days, while a Gale passed us. I remember how great the shower in Bamfield felt after 10 days. What a treat. We lived on Ontario at the time but when I retired at 57 yrs. Old I moved right back to B.C. with my now husband.

Thank you for this beautiful video. It brought back memories. I did the WCT with my wife in 1978. There were no cable cars or bridges then and all the ladders were rotted out.. when I’d did it solo again in 1981 the ladders and boardwalks had been replaced and improved. I’ve done a lot of backpacking and the WCT was my favourite; even beside a glorious 200 km hike in the Rockies.

This really touched my heart with its stupendous cinematography of the Pacific NW's WCT. You captured the gorgeous nature in all its splendor, a feast for the eyes! When I was younger in the 1980s and 1990s, I'd returned again and again to Washington's west coast and car camp or back pack. My favorites were Rialto, Second, and Third Beaches, as well as Shi Shi Beach, plus Tofino on Vancouver Island, BC. I've never hiked the WCT but if I had ever known about it I certainly would have. I'm 70 now and haven't been to the coast in a while but hope to revisit someday. Jenny Seattle, WA 💚🌲🦦🦉🦅🐾🦊

5x trail veteran here (2000-2004). Very nice video. The WCT is the most beautiful place I've ever been. Even now, 20 years on, I'm drawn to videos like this to feel it, to smell it, to hear the ocean again. Over 5 trips and 31 days, only 1 day of rain, and that was on the last day (Darling to Pachena). One trip featured 7 days of glorious sunshine. Some highlights: walking the Carmannah beach barefoot from the river to moniques; meeting the carmannah lighthouse keeper on the beach below the lighthouse towards Cribbs. The man had a big telescope set up on a tripod and we watched the sea lions up close; whales at Tsocowis that were within 30 meters of the beach; meeting a group of astronomers from UBC at Michigan. These guys had star charts and were on the trail at that time specifically because there was no moon. Absolutely black and starring at the sky for hours. Hiking the shelf from Campers northbound and crossing some ridiculous surge channels, then hiking up Sandstone Creek in sandals to rejoin the trail to Walbran. And, of course, talking to other hikers at campsites and exchanging stories of misery, heroism and glory. Thanks for reading this.

All through this video I found myself thinking "I'm only 4 hours away from this amazing, soul satisfying trail. What am I doing sitting here". We have some great trails here on the East Coast of the Island, but I feel like I have gone through a time stopping portal every time I visit the West Coast. It is unfortunate that it is becoming so popular, gone are the days that we could have a fantastic meal at the old Wickaninnish inn and play Backgammon on the beach with the staff after closing time or camp on Long Beach, etc, etc. Nevertheless it is still a very unique experience to feel the salty breeze on your face or smell the damp cedar trees. I definitely will be going back. Thanks for this wonderful reminder of the beauty of the West Coast.
