I don’t think that’s what @stephencollicoat was implying. I think he might mean that some parts of it can be a bit of an assault on the senses (sometimes in a nice way and sometimes a little overwhelming). It’s such an interesting and diverse country and we hope we showed this in our videos, especially for people that have never had the chance to travel there. We hope we get the chance to go back and explore more one day.

Amazing tour of the Ganges River and of the Country by cruise. Very well described, awesome scenery; with some somber scenes. Mainly: wonderful video quality and images. Noticed that the dances were shown synchronous to songs that were prepared for this video clip: very thoughtful idea. I don’t know what it is about THIS vlog of this cruise and itinerary that make it so appealing to me. I’ve seen maybe two vlogs on this pre-pandemic. Maybe part of it is a sign of growth and change in me. I’m getting too existential. I’m seeing it through new, swish British, eyes! The vessel is so unique in its classic and yet down-to-earth essence. Such an intimate experience. And the dancing. I feel like even on European river cruises, people don’t generally dress culturally for it…unless they do……. They really need to make an Under the Tuscan Sun sort of film but based in the Ganges. Wait. Hollywood movies have been really bad lately. Movies in general! Scratch that idea! …… for now.

The breathtaking visuals combined with your infectious enthusiasm made the entire experience truly unforgettable. 💖🎥 Your visit to Matiari, the enchanting "Temple City," left me in awe. 😍🏯 The intricate terracotta carvings at the Rajbari temple were nothing short of stunning.And those charming cows,🐐in their winter coats?🐄❄Irresistible! The abundance of fresh produce and fish created a sensory feast that was delightful to behold. 🍅🐟🥗 The exhilarating auto rickshaw ride through the bustling streets of Kar was a thrill! 🛺💨 The Naba Kailash complex, with its exquisitely carved temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, was awe-inspiring. The layout, reminiscent of the beads of a rudraaksha mala, and the significance of the sacred number 108 offered captivating insights into the rich tapestry of Hinduism. 🕉🔮 Your experiences at the Katra Mosque in Murshidabad, built in 1724, and the grand Hazarduari Palace, boasting over 1,000 doors, were standout moments in your journey, showcasing remarkable historical significance and architectural splendor. 🕌🏛✨ Witnessing the Ganga Aarti ceremony was pure magic; I can only imagine how breathtaking it must have been to see hundreds of glowing lights drifting downstream, creating a scene of serene beauty. 🕯🌌💫 **Inspired by your incredible adventures, here’s a curated list of unique, off-the-beaten-path destinations that I believe you'll adore, just as much as the Ganges Voyager cruise:** ✨ **Majuli, Assam** - The world's largest river island, where the vibrant Mishing tribe thrives amidst stunning traditions. Great work by Rich, a very well presented emotional roller coaster journey along the divine life supporter river mother Ganga which may have gotten dirty at some places. I myself have never visited these small towns covered here and they are not the most developed ones, hopefully they will improve. Hinduism and its cultural practices are definitely a unique thing about Bharat. Regarding the cruise, it is a slightly expensive one and targeted more towards upper middle class/rich Indians and of course the foreigners wanting to see some of Bharat. Only one point in the end I have to make is about mother Teresa, she is someone who is increasingly been seen as a shady character by lot of Indian people after discovering new facts about her. Overall an absorbing journey.

You have done a really great job highlighting the beauty of your tour. India has not been on our list of places to see for many different reasons but your trip sure did make as think, and now may consider it. It's hard to watch because the luxury in India juxtaposed to its everyday life in India for millions is so clear. Although adding tourist dollars to remote regions like seeing the brass factory was fascinating and so unique to experience and then be able to purchase a handmade craft to take home, maybe helpful. It definitely is not the Danube but it is part of our real world and fascinating to see. Thank you for sharing. We love the tidbits of history you add while showing the historic sites.

Hello Rich and Helen. Going to start at the end here. You see those words "I Thirst" besides the crucifix in the chapel ?? That meditation came from St. Teresa of Lisieux, And Mother went through her dark night of the soul, where she could not find, see, nor hear God. She kept writing JP II about it, continually, and he would tell her to "Just Chill Out" in his own special way. She eventually came out of that fog, albeit, in a much better spiritual place, than when she went into it. Hence, "I Thirst." Also the thirst she had for Christ and the Eucharist. I have that meditation "I Thirst" tattooed on my upper right arm, that I got on my 10th sober anniversary a long time ago. My iteration is in Hebrew script, in honor of the Jewish Community in Montreal, who took such good care of me way back then. I believe this was the most incredible video you have ever posted on the channel. Talk about cultural Immersion. Uniworld just dumps you into the deep end of the pool ! Not for the faint of heart for sure. But I think you did a fine and respectful job with the entire presentation. It was beautiful, and stark. I am a huge lover of India. Mother has been an integral part of my faith for many many years. As a teen ager, I worked in the Sisters of Charity Convent in Florida for a long time. A sober friend, Lorna Kelly, the first woman auctioneer at Sotheby's in NYC, went to India and ended up THERE at the Mother House, in wait for Mother to return. She had a personal relationship with Mother over many years, and testified at the Vatican for the cause of Mother's Canonization. Funny story: Lorna finally meets Mother about 5 days after she arrived in Calcutta (the name then) dressed in her Gucci clothes, chinos, purse and made up like a Sotheby's rich woman, that she WAS, mind you. And mother looked at her and said: "You should get rid of your rich clothing, wipe off that makeup, and sell your riches and give the money to to poor !!" Lorna learned very quickly that if she was going to stay on at the Mother House, then she needed to dress appropriately, and become one of them, and not just some rich visitor from America. Needless to say, Lorna was besides herself, because Mother was quite stern with her. She had written an entire book about all of her time in India and at the Mother House, with Mother, and the other sisters. That read, for sure, was not for the faint of heart either. From cushy rich NYC to the Mother House was quite the culture shock for her, indeed. She had NO IDEA what she was walking into, when she BLINDLY bought that ticket and got on the plane to go. Lorna died of cancer a handful of years ago now. Your trip to the Mother House, meant a great deal to me, to see it in person through your eyes. I thank you !!! It just makes my meditation of "I Thirst" ever more meaningful, and comes at a useful moment !!! If you are a fan of Gregory David Roberts, Shantaram and The Mountain Shadow, are two of the very best books written about India, in my opinion. Both, are BRICKS of books !! And once you begin reading, you won't put them down for a moment. He will capture you and take you on a ride similar to the river cruise you went on, but through the streets and slums of Mumbai. Well Done !!

We say 'Nomoshkar' not 'Namaste', it's west Indian term.Winter isn't good time travel to big cities or in general, it's only because the temperature that time is good for westerners but there's no other reason to visit India in winter, unless you are going to the nature like National park, mountain or beaches only then it's okay. You should do Goa- Laxwadeep, Andaman Nicobar , Kerala (I'm not talking about house boat)cruise . Anyways it was very good video so authentic experience. That's not auto rickshaw it's call 'toto' .

Thanks for the wonderful vlogs. I loved both of them. You say it was cold. What time of year would you suggest going? How cold was it?
@visitwithus2 ай бұрын
We travelled in January this year and it was cold enough to need a coat (10-15degrees in the mornings). It did get up to low 20s during the day on some days but wasn’t oppressive by any means. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍

Hi Rich and Helen. We’ve watched and enjoyed many of your videos. On this one the colours were really vivid on our 4k UHD tv. Could you tell me what camera you used to film it please?
@visitwithus2 ай бұрын
Hi and thank you so much for continuing to support our channel! We really appreciate it. I use a variety of cameras. On this trip, I used an iPhone 14 Pro, DJI Osmo Pocket 3 and a sony A7R5. I use them interchageably so I couldn't tell you which scene was filmed on which (which I suppose is the point - to make each scene seamless in quality). :)

A couple of comments regarding your interesting vlog. I think it would help if in your tours you said when you were visiting and filming....simply the month would suffice. I write this because you show and reference the weather in this vlog, calling it "cold" at one stage. Cold of course is relative and is perhaps surprising to some visiting southern Bengal. Knowing when the video was filmed could help some to determine when to visit. The other opint at approx. 41.12, you make mention of Mother Theresa's birthplace. This was not Kolkata as your slip-of-the-tongue mentions but Skopje, now North Macedonia. She did, of course, die in Kolkata.

Thank you for watching, for paying such close attention to the detail and for your helpful advice. We actually noticed the mistake about Mother Teresa on our own watch through but it would have been difficult to change it at that point. And yes, we should have said when we travelled as a lot of people have asked us why it was so cold 😨 Thanks again 👍

You visited West Bengal, just north of West Bengal is Darjeeling, Pelling and Gangtok. So basically this region of India is like Nepal with 5G, KFC, Wow Momos and Domino's Pizza. 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅 Also not all of India is hot. India is the world's third largest producer of coconuts fourth largest producer of apples and ninth largest producer of plums. Darjeeling, Pelling and Gangtok are colder than Murshidabad. You can even experience snow there.

Great video. We are looking at going to India for an 8 week trip. South to north. When did you do your cruise? Thinking about your clothing. It appears a little chilly and overcast.

We were there in January this year. We were taken by surprise by how cold it was. It was foggy in the morning but usually quickly cleared up. It was nice to be able to visit and not find the heat overwhelming 👍

@@visitwithus No worries. Love your channel. Love this India video in particular. Something quite special about roughing it in Luxury. Laughed when you said “this isn’t the Danube. “ I really really love the contrast of going into wonderful but not, should i say not the most luxurious areas and then going back to a comfortable ship.

This is West Bengal, India. The Sunderban is the most Fearsome Forest in the world, not Amazon. Yes, I know people may laugh but if you know about the MAN EATERS - Royal Bengal Tiger and rivers full or Crocodiles and snakes theN you will not. Thank you!

Absolutely fascinating vlog which showcases life in the country that has arguably had the largest share of humanity, prosperity, complexity and diversity the world has ever seen. As noted by the historian William Dalrymple, Mughal-era Bengal was the wealthiest region in the world before being colonized by the Dutch (Chinsurah), Portuguese (Bandel), French (Chandannagar), and the British (Kolkata), all along the banks of Ganga. It would be nice if these small towns can profit from such cruises and tourist footfall.
