This is the best Celebrity class of ship unless you must have "the Retreat" or the newest cruise ship class or latest tech or small theater shows in Eden and Eden experience. Otherwise, it offers everything the Edge offers plus a Sky Lounge, intimate smaller lounges, true Celebrity retro-modern style and not generic trendy that defines the Edge in most of its spaces, and deck space access most people can enjoy (but Celebrity seems to want to make more "Retreat" spaces and take away from the this). I only wish it didn't make Michael's Club, a once fun and fine piano room spot, a Retreat only lounge. The Martini Bar with the ice surface, the hanging tree, the library and card room in the open atrium, the many quiet spaces, the Lawn Club, the deck spaces, the secondary show room, all of this adds up to a very well-designed ship. The only issue is the canned music piped into the ship and sometimes the activities in the Grand Foyer going up to the quieter spaces like the library. I doubt Celebrity will make a ship like this again and that's a shame.
@benjaminsmith22872 сағат бұрын
Hoppen's designs are boring IMO. I don't see the appeal. Enjoy your retreats. But Celebrity, keep your class system on your Edge ships. Don't pollute the Solstice class with this. Bad enough Michael's Club was taken away.

The Fjords is a dream of mine. And as ships become more emissions free, I’m sure it’ll be more possible, especially on smaller ships. Though there is something about QM2 and the fjords that just seem like a match made. Alas. The Trollfjord’s retro appearance is so swish! The cantilevered bay windowed grand suites is giving Norwegian Majesty. Like. They need to bring those kinds of staterooms back! From 2002, but I love the late ‘80s look. You’d never know the way they’ve swished up the interiors, though. And, oh, that two deck high observation lounge!! This ship insists on generous views of the outside. Something some of the modern ships are just lacking. And they’re huge! You guys need to visit the Queen Mary one day! She ain’t what she used to be..fer now, but I always love the take of a classic British ocean liner from authentic, swish British adventurers. The SS Rotterdam, too, for that matter. She needs a visit from yens guys as well. Rich really should be the next Bond, now that I think about it.

Flew LAX to LHR yesterday on 'Dreamliner' upper class. Started badly with 2 hour delay due to incoming flight unable to find suitable discharge point and moored on distant runway requiring boarding by bus. Upper class cabin badly designed with slanting pod-like seats with little privacy. Virtually no storage space around seat and iPhone etc points hidden. TV screen v small and not easy to adjust. Worst of all you have to request cabin staff to prepare 'bed' , not particularly comfortable, and same staff demolish bed before breakfast. Toilets are shared with premium economy. Food and drink aplenty and staff helpful but overstretched.I would not fly upper class with Virgin 'dreamliner' again.

They don’t do S’mores in England???
@visitwithusКүн бұрын
I know, crazy! The only ingredient readily available in the UK are the marshmallows, can’t really get Grahams crackers or Hershey’s here. Obviously we have similar substitutes for these but we tend to just toast marshmallows over open fires without the chocolate and biscuits. We loved them though 👍

As a lifelong Alaskan living in Juneau (born in Kodiak, raised in Haines) I enjoy watching these kinds of videos, seeing Alaska through the eyes of tourists. Yours did not disappoint! Great job, very entertaining and informative! BTW, those bears were eating the eggs from the salmon before throwing them away…the richest, fattiest, parts!

Ok my take. Every single restaurant looked lovely and most of the food delish. And of course your presentation with superlative as always. But as someone with an allergy (and not the only person in the world) I was disappointed that when I froze the menu scenes I did not find any even basic allergy information such as indicating nut or dairy. Only plant based. Which given other lines do that is disappointing for a 5 star small ship line. I know you can ask a waiter no doubt but to sit there and say ‘that, and what about that, and that’ is embarrassing for both passenger and time consuming for the service staff.
@visitwithus4 күн бұрын
@@xr6lad Thanks for highlighting this. I don’t have an answer for you but the menus we have shown are only snapshots. Allergen info must be there somewhere for the level of cuisine they are serving, but I can’t remember and didn’t note it. Sorry about that. 🙂

Hi Helen and Rich. Hmm, inquiring minds want to know, Trollfjord in Antarctica cruising the Lemaire Channel, a Yay or a Nay ??? I think she might do quite well in that environment too. And probably much cheaper than the cruise you paid for to get there on your trip down to the White Continent.
@visitwithus4 күн бұрын
Good question Jeremy. The good thing about Hurtigruten's fleet is that they are all built with the sometimes extremely nasty Norwegian Sea in mind, which in itself can be one of the roughest seas in the world. Therefore I guess they would handle the Drake Passage with relative ease. I think you'll find Hurtigruten's sister company HX would run those itineraries with their purpose built expedition ships. :)

@@visitwithus Trollfjord has that wonderful observation lounge up front with access to the upper outdoor deck, and I thought, she would probably do well down there. I know the HX purpose built ships they have. I've been following the news on several reporting sites.

I was fortunate to take this trip in September. I was slightly apprehensive that after over 32 cruises I might be spending a lot of money for a tarted up ferry. I was wrong. The Svalbard trip was the best cruise I have ever experienced, and I am saving to go again. The ship is sturdy, the accommodations perfect for me (window, but not a suite), the food was superb, the staff exceptional, the shop was the best at sea, and the scenery and stops spectacular.
