I'm glad you came to visit my hometown and had a good time...Happy Chinese New Year :) I learned from my family that apparently my maternal great-grandfather actually served in the Kuomingtang army, and he was a graduate of 黄埔军校. But after the civil war ended, he was arrested by the Red Army and got executed, then my grandfather being the oldest son in the family ended up joining the Red Army in order to save his family from being blacklisted by the newly formed government.

Thank you for sharing your story ! It must have been horrible back then. My grand parents don’t support the Red Army as well because of the big starvation they brought to the Chinese people. But when you have nowhere to go, you can only join the « enemy » and adapt. Anyway, it was the right thing to do in order to survive :) thank you for sharing this personal story again! Happy Chinese New Year to you too! 😘

The animals did look happy though. I think they would have been bored if they did not have exercise and interact with humans once they are in the zoo type environment. It seemed like they were proud to perform to an appreciative audience. The eagerness and the expressions on their faces seemed genuine even though I too feel bitter sweet about it. During the pandemic when no humans came to the zoo, the animals got very depressed and bored. I remember going to Canada and they had a place where some birds were able to mingle with people and they really liked the attention. Some of them would follow certain people after interacting with them. I think lions and big animals like that should be in the wild but more interactive and social animals can do well with humans but naturally it’s best to leave them alone unless they are disabled or rescued and cannot thrive in the wilderness.

Yes, I agree with you. Some animals do need socialization and interaction. But for big animals, they need to be in their natural habitat, where they are free to roam anywhere. When we had the Covid lockdown, i think many ppl realized how tough it is to stay confined at home, and I think, it's the same for animals. Seeing the same 4 walls everyday can turn you crazy, but on the other hand, they got unlimited food... hard to tell if they are truly happy or not 🥲

No Harbin unfortunately. I wish I can go there, i haven’t been there and it seems super fun, but I heard on the news that there are 3-4 hours of queue for every activity 😅 and it only lasts a month. Too short time for too many people. Regarding the animals in the zoo, yes i agree with you. They wouldn’t survive, but for those who got caught in their natural habitat, it must be horrible to die in a cage… it’s so sad 😞 But anyway, HAPPY NEW YEAR 2024 of the Dragon 🥳🎊

Chimelong is nice but not as good as DisneyLand i guess the storyline of Disney is stronger with many heroes that we love before going there to buy toys and other object !
