In this episode, join me as I begin a 7 day solo trip to the remote waters of Isle Royale. Located nearly 60 miles north of Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula, Isle Royale is found in the northwest corner of Lake Superior. With the main island being close to 50 miles long, this national park provides one of the last great wilderness retreats in the US lower 48. Between amazing wildlife, scenery, feisty fish and gnarly waters, this is an action packed episode that won't disappoint!
Thank you for watching and for your continued support!

A real Michigan Man, is not a football player. This guy is the real deal outdoorsman. Thanks a bunch for all your work. While one is in Copper Harbor, make sure to drive out and visit, Estivant Pines Wilderness Nature Preserve. You can see some REAL old growth White Pines.

While I agree on the Michigan man, the Estivant pines are pathetic. They are all hype. There are larger and more majestic white pines all over the UP that put that stand of Timber sticks to shame. Take that advice from a local.

When I saw the title, I was so excited and as usual the video didn't disappoint. By far, my favorite show to watch on any venue!! Would love to see a BWCA trip in mid September, what you could pull out of one of the more remote lakes would be epic and it's always an adventure. Heck, I'd love to be on that trip as I'm sure all your fans would!! If you ever wanted a base lake suggestion, I have been to a couple of great ones!

I just got back from Isle Royal June 15-21 2024 I took my daughter and her boyfriend. We hiked around 50 miles, did a loop hike.. to some of the vary remote areas of the island. If i could sum up isle Royal in two words it would be ~ Beautifully Unforgiving. On a 13 mile hike day we ended up at lane cove, a wild thunderstorm ⛈️ came in off the lake, at one point the wind almost took my tent 🏕️ out 😱 it shook your soul, it was humbling. You could hear all the freighters on the north side of the island and Canada tucked into a harbor blowing their horns taking refuge from the storm. We seen two moose 🫎 many foxes 🦊 one was a black fox. many loons 🦆 a few snakes 🐍 one wolf 🐺 and lots and lots of mosquitoes 🦟 and black biting flys! For every bit of beauty the island and lake Superior offered.. an opposite price was paid! I will definitely be going back to hike it again.. maybe a bit later in the season to avoid Michigans other state bird 🦟 I think next time i’m gonna take the seaplane to windigo and then hike to rock harbor.

I hike the island (loop) with my father in 1991, when I was 13. We took the float plane as my father had previously visited twice via boat. His second trip was so bad, he swore off traveling on the ‘barf barge’ again. Be fortunate you don’t have any tales to tell about that portion of the trip. I’ve hiked Denali (2x), Glacier, Banff/Jasper, and Isle Royale ranks at or near the top. We were fortunate to see 3-4 dozen moose. The island was much more populated with them, then. Either way, it’s such a unique island and the memories are still clear as the water in Siskiwit Lake or Rock Harbor! Food for thought, avoid the crowds, and bugs, and go before Memorial Day or after Labor Day. Book early though as the service is limited then, and experienced visitors know that’s the best time to visit the island! Cheers!

Your best one yet, by far ! Been to Isle Royale 2 times. Both trips were 12 day trips. Your video is the absolute best Isle Royale segment I have ever seen ! If you get back up there & hike to any of the inland lakes, you have to give Lake Richie a try. The best pike fishing I have ever seen ! Also, if you go later in the summer you can load those pancakes up w/ Thimbleberries ! I was really surprised that you did not catch any Coaster Brookies. Thanks for sharing, this really brought back some great memories, especially seeing some places that I stayed at .

Another awesome video Kyle. How do you keep perishables cold during storage before you eat them like the venison blackstrap?
@AdventureChasing
@AdventureChasing 3 ай бұрын
It can be difficult! Sometimes I bring a cooler and can keep perishables good for several days. In this case Lake Superior was 38-40 degrees so I was able to use the cold water to keep things chilled. I always have plenty of dried food just in case though.

Its cool you found that rod tip. A few years back I was fly fishing a trout stream in Michigan and was walking in a thicket along the river. My line had broken and unbeknownst to me the tip section of my Orvis rod had gotten pulled off from the bottom part. I looked and looked but couldn’t find it. I was so bummmed mostly because it was my only setup and I didn’t get to fish after driving for hours. Upside is I had to buy a new fly rod…darn! 😂
