Just out of curiosity, given the high likelihood that this base will attract screamers, how do you build the base itself to funnel the mobs to some place where they won't wreck the stations? A mini-horde night type passage on the side? Would they use that, or just go straight for the stations?
@FantasticMrGhost10 күн бұрын
@@LabTech41 Version 1.2 changed a LOT with screamer spawns. This video is on v1.1. Now-a-days, in early game, place the dew collectors far away. In order to build a crafting base like this, just make a horde base AND a crafting base with electric fences, turrets, ect. Don't combine them is the rule of thumb. I have a couple videos showcasing some horde base designs, fyi. Hope this helps.
@LabTech4110 күн бұрын
@ What I meant was, let's say you're in your base, doing crafting and the stations are working, and then a screamer spawns: should you put an opening in the base so that the screamer will be attracted to it, similar to a horde base's fighting position, so that they're not tearing down the walls to get to the stations? I make sure to keep horde and crafting bases separate, but if crafting is going to be routinely drawing screamers, it should have some means of funneling them to a point where you can beat them down as they come. I was thinking of having a base on stilts, maybe 4-5 blocks off the ground, with all these stations and dew collectors, plus probably a farm. There'd be two points of interaction with the outside: a ladder two blocks off the ground for me to enter/exit, and then some steps leading to a fighting position for when the screamers come, with blocks to stop cop spit from affecting anything inside the base... does that sound good, or would you recommend anything different? The horde night base would be a totally different affair, and the fighting spot would just be screamers and the associated spawns.
@FantasticMrGhost10 күн бұрын
@@LabTech41 The zeds like ladders, make that the access point. Test it out and make adjustments as needed. Plop in some electric fences to slow the suckers down too. It all comes down to testing over time. And it's fun to test.

I like your setup. Simple and efficient. I'm going to modify mine to include some of your ideas. I built an all in one base beside Trader Jen's with crafting on the basement, Horde base on mid and farming on top. Space is limited, so this works well for me. Thanks. I'm also on permadeath, no cm. Adventurer difficulty. I'll raise the difficulty once I have my full armor set and guns to T6. Stone is easy. While digging my zombie mosh pit 7 blocks down, I found that bedrock has tons of stone.

The best advice I can give anybody for managing resources in relationship to the crafting equipment such as chemistry stations, workbenches, forges; is that you want everything to be doing everything. This will open up the bottleneck of production and allow you to produce more resources quicker. Specialization doesn't really work in this game unless you're playing with multiple people and each person is themselves specialized in producing a particular thing.

Thanks for the video! Not only can you make a permanent water well in your base with one simple building block, but you can learn or buy the water purifier mod to use on your headgear allowing you to drink murky water. The only good thing water is for is for making recipes so yeah it's useful but not a prerequisite for water scavenging for survival.
@capeeddy4 ай бұрын
It's a 20% saving on resources to craft stacks, not 80%. It costs 80% of the original 100% cost. Also, the stacks take more time to craft so there is a trade off for time vs resource savings.

Just a tip, but most players with a full scale base shouldn’t need more than 5 dew collectors with all upgrades. That’s gives you 3 stacks of water a day, or more if longer days. Water purifier mod for helmets eliminates the need for dew collectors.
@FantasticMrGhost5 ай бұрын
Good point except, you'll need water for cooking and glue. I did mention that the player can do less or more collectors (gotta cover my rear). In late game, crafting drops off so extra dew collectors can be removed.

@@FantasticMrGhost that’s true, I made my comment through a narrow lens, I don’t bother with farming or cooking really because you can get plenty of food and water through quest or buying. But you are correct by saying there is a drop off late game.

@FantasticMrGhost5 ай бұрын
I usually setup in the green forest and stay there since it's a pain to move things. The build you see there is how I lay it out. I also build near the trader Rekt. The screamers are attracted to heat/noise. I'm not an expert on that but digging down might not work. The Fun Pimps are always looking to patch out exploits. When I hear a screamer, I hit sneak and try to shoot them before they scream.

I tested dew collectors under an open parking garage (Check out my last 7D2D 1.0 series), and they do not work if covered. Kind of negates the term dew collector and all the mods we install. They should be called rain water collector in this case and change the terms of the mods imo.

How do you get rid of the horrible sound auto turrets make? Since 1.0, my turrets make the sound like when you shoot a block inside the trader compound. It just spams that sound and it’s so god damn annoying. I can’t even hear the gunshots of the turrets. It’s loud as hell, even 200 plus meters away from base.
@FantasticMrGhost4 ай бұрын
One way I can think of is not to use the land claim block in the horde base at all. Another way is to work out a design where the turrets are not able to hit blocks inside the protected area i.e. put them out in front and not way back. But, that noise is SO annoying and I think it just started happening recently.

Once you have the water purifier mod for a helm just grab a bucket of water and you will have solved thirst. All my bases contain a bucket of water for drinking. As far as the dew collector the mods that increase quantity are quite cheap, the only expensive one is the one that turns the water clean. Having a dedicated campfire for cooking water is definitely the way to go until you have really excessive amounts of dukes. I mean you can buy an awful lot of glue and duct tape for the price of one of those mods. It's a very late game luxury for when you don't need dukes anymore.

Somehow on warrior difficulty xp multiplier 100% I can manage fairly easily off one of each crafting workbench type and one dew collector. I think the key is keeping specific amounts of everything in storage, monitor the stuff you’re using and how much. So I’ll keep a 3 stack of each food I eat. Eggs and bacon, hobo stew, yucca smoothies, blackstrap coffee. This way I can see when I need to craft more a LONG time before I’d ever run out so there is never a sense of urgency. I’ll also keep specific amounts of the ingredients to make those items so I’ll know when I need to pick it up or not. So even if I want to make beer I’ll add it to the end of a 200 minute queue behind stacks of gunpowder and gas. It’s never a problem because I have a surplus of beer begin with. I do this with pretty much everything you can pick up in the game. That way I know whether or not I need to pick it up at all to converse inventory space. I’m probably a little excessive when it comes to preparedness and inventory management though.😅

@@FantasticMrGhost I always tend to build some sort of "fighting position" at my build base. (Also works for early game horde nights) This is in one of my maps, as the only way to get to me is via the steps to the fighting window, no zombie ever attacks any walls or walks in on the first/ground floor. Hell, I don't even put in a back door. They actually changed it. Back a couple versions only murky water could be used for glue. They used to have glass jars and we'd have to go to a lake or water source, scoop the water to get murky water. Also, eating caned food would leave an empty can which could be melted down for iron or used for one water. I like the current system more. Less crap to manage.
