I like to use a killing corridor that can be used 3 ways; a pit at the bottom, a regular killing corridor and one that gets the zombies to you. All made possible by 4 powered garage doors that you can open and close to change how the base works. Getting overwhelmed? Send em to the pit with a press of a button. Pit has taken too much damage? Close it and switch to regular. Not a fully demo-proof base as you can still fck up but it can take a lot of blows, if you like being active and not afk the night it's really good

My bases have always been very basic. A catwalk with stopgaps. But I will definitely be altering some of my bases. The only question is which one should I use? I like to gather resources of all types from farming, salvaging, mining, and sometimes looting. So my perk points are often spread out over attributes and I keep forgetting to put perks into damage based ones. Perhaps if I did that more I would kill ZJs faster and level up faster to be able to get the perks I actually want? I’ll have to look into it.
@SavensWorld3 жыл бұрын
I find it best to plan your build ahead of time or have a general idea of what playstyle you want to focus on for each playthrough. Start with your primary attribute and try to get points into perks that will maximize your weapon of choice first. Then, branch out from there.

The strength base looks really good on paper but my issue is me and my friend are still early to mid game at the moment and we are struggling a bit with the horde nights. We don't have access to forged steel or late game equipment like turrets or auto shotguns. I'm worried that if I try to recreate this with just forged iron trap doors the massive amount of zombies will just break through in 2 seconds flat and have me for dinner.
@SavensWorld3 жыл бұрын
I've used this design with a strength build for every Horde from day 7 to day 700. It performs spectacularly. Just upgrade as you can. Iron hatches are sufficient until you start getting loads of radiated zombies. By that point, you should have an ample steel supply.
@Jojo-yb3kg3 жыл бұрын
I did the Perception style horde base earlier this evening and it was incredibly effective. I wasn't sure if they would path towards me but the wedge tips trick under the half blocks forced them to. Thanks, I would never have known how useful wedge tips can be in the game at deceiving Z's! Only problem I had was some spider zombies managed to jump the gap when I had the hatch down to snipe down in the pit or throw pipe bombs. But I also have decent strength so just pummeled them to death with my steel club! However the overall experience was so much smoother and cleaner than my first horde night, and I even had radiated feral wights. Thanks for the videos, they have been very helpful.

Your agility base can also use iron bars instead of blocks, then at the end, I like to put a sledge turret to knock them off if they actually make it that far - most don't :) - this base style can survive from day 7 on up. The biggest danger will come from demos blowing your support pillars out - but by that time you should be tough enough to fight the horde on foot! No need to put full bars at the end - I usually use a hatch so IF They make it to me, I can whack them with the sledge or through molly's as required

I can see a optional version of the agility one(one where the zombie jerks have to stop to jump over all 3 blocks) where instead of full blocks, can't you use half blocks on their sides?! Meaning make a thin wall with the, "you must jump over these to get to me" blocks(even these can be half blocks up on their sides) using the half blocks, so the zombie jerks have even less area to catch their balance & have an even greater chance of falling off!

2024 - There have been so many changes over the past and now some ideas are redundant, but the basics are the same. The Zombie Rage mode made a significant difference but building 15 blocks high cancels Rage mode when they fall off. Use AI tracking to have them come up to you and make it very easy for them to do that. Delay their passage to you with high mazes that they fall off, corridors with drop down systems work well, or by using electricity and other Traps. Good ol' Pipe Bombs are great if you do get any congestion, depending on your type of build. Delay the onslaught because you need that bit of extra time to repair the melee area, or your electric fence posts, your guns or weapons or to drink or eat etc. Thanks Saven for your informative videos. Regard to all.

Ye, they either must have fixed it, or we made sth bad, he doesnt explain it too much in the vid (how many blocks where and stuff), you can still fix it, by making a path over the pit and putting hatches to where you stand and defend, some of them will fall down trying to get to you. And then you can extend the catwalk further, applying the same technique and this definitely works. I did this in my world, and we easily defended blood moon on day 21.

@aliasmask3 жыл бұрын
@@SamuraiTex84 It's currently on the Vedui Community Server and all you need to do is join his discord and get white listed. It's a simple enough design though. About 30x3x5 hallway. Entrance is on edge of water. Home base built above the entrance. In the hall I have 2 electric fences at entrance separated by 3 or 4 blocks (because of immunity timer). About 1/2 halfway down my hurdles begin (4 vertical plates, no spaces). This is good for getting in close. And then at the end I have 4 dart traps in front of the horizontal pillars. We always start off sniping but then they get closer we bust out the shotguns and aks. Bottom shooting floor is 3 high with plate ceiling, 2nd floor has an open cage and a way to hop in and out of hallway. One of the main design tricks is to use arrow slits for the hallway walls then cover those with plates. You can repair the hall from inside or outside of the hall. I have a runway over the water on the outside to repair the fences and walls. It also make redesign and running wires easier.
@aliasmask3 жыл бұрын
When playing with smurkin's mod, with tougher zombies, it had to add 2 blade traps after the hurdles because off all the hp they had. Made it so it didn't interfere with the shooting hall and could be repaired from above. Being 6 blocks up mwans they cant stack, the AI algarithm will make them attack the bottom of your tower IF there is no pathway to you... the upside down wing blocks apparently are counted as the AI algarithm as a pathway the zombies can get to you. The AI algarithm also paths the zombies through the path of least resistance..... so electric shock and sledge hammers are VERY effective as the AI algarithm sees that as the path of least resistance where as the tower is built of pure steel blocks which is the most durable block in the game, and they would have to go through 6 of them at least just to reach you and that is of they could fly or climb walls like a spider. Thats what i have learned dont know if there is anything else. Hope that helps you

@chrishubbard643 жыл бұрын
The last horde base was hilarious. Its honestly what I think of for real late game hordes. Ammo becomes a real issue the bigger the hordes get, so having to kill everything personally can make you run out of ammo and get slaughtered. Setting up the traps on the other hand allows you to let them do some of the work. Or all of it. ;p I cant count how many silly bases ive seen that treat just having the sledges as somehow being enough and the horde night never freaking ends. Yeah the sledges knock them off but it doesnt kill the zombies very well at all. The one downside to your base design is, you have no way to repair or resupply the traps mid horde. If you are willing to go this far with your setup, you might as well make a corridor for yourself behind the traps so you can run up and have los to repair the fences, restock the darts, repair the blades, etc. All without exposing yourself to danger. Even if moving causes some issues with zombie jerk pathing, move quick, get er done, then get back to your waiting area and let them go back to moving how they should. But even without doing that, by the time the traps run out of darts or the blades get broken, they will have greatly weakened the horde making mop up a lot easier so its probably not THAT vital. I do love how most of your bases were basically the same thing, three block stairs, funnel into single block hallway, murder. Its classic and effective. The best part is, you can throw up a quick and dirty strength horde base easily, then adapt it over time for the later hordes so you dont end up with several bases and lots of wasted material. After all, the first couple horde nights are easily taken care of by a few hatches and whatever ammo/weapons you have on hand. Then you have time to work on the death pit if you plan to go that way, or to setup angles and hallways for the trap build.

I built the first base but instead of the zombies walking up the stairs, they attacked the structure and ended up breaking it. Did I do something wrong?
@SavensWorld3 жыл бұрын
You should join the Saven's World discord and post some screenshots in the Horde Base Design page. I can check it out and let you know what I think happened.

do you get xp if zombies die from your traps?
@SavensWorld3 жыл бұрын
You can get xp from trap kills if you put points in the Advanced Engineering perk.

Problem with the intellect base is that these fencepost will be destroyed after hitting 200 times and you can't repair them. And the darts traps will run out of ammunition. A horde spawned in a high game stage will overrun this thing.
@SavensWorld2 жыл бұрын
Tested it on Insane. It does fine. But these are just basic designs. Meant for players to use the core concepts and expand on them.
@Ork201112 жыл бұрын
@@SavensWorld What do you mean by tested? Did you go through a full horde nigth on a high game state where most the zombies are radiated ones?
@michelleclelland88783 жыл бұрын
I loved the intellect horde base, how long did that take to construct.
@SavensWorld3 жыл бұрын
In creative mode, not too long. If it were built in survival without the creative menu, it would have taken much longer 😀
@applefunk99053 жыл бұрын
To be honest with you Saven everytime I open a horde night video from anyone and see a set of rounded steps leading to a straight path with sledge turrets I immediately turn it off. But it definitely works.

I came for fun ideas. I seem to build a playstyle not many use. I'm probably wrong. The sledges are my bread n butter for my builds.

On the last one do you get exp if they die by trap?
@SavensWorld2 жыл бұрын
You can get up to 50% exp if you spec into Advanced Engineering

So whenever I do the zombie corridor some of them go up the stairs and fall but many still damage the pillars beneath you. what am I doing wrong?

It could be a variety of things. I would recommend joining the discord server and posting some screenshots in the horde base section. The link is in the description.

These are 10x bette than what I was gonna try. Mw and my bud are on our 28th day and the last horde about destroyed our little horde base. Almost completely destroyed i figured to try something new. This is gonna save me alot of mats and It looks easy to replicate. Hope it still works lol

I like my own design best. it's a bit pricey, but it's wicked fast xp/loot. and safe enough to put all your crucibles in a wood box with you, at 'any' game stage or difficulty. I don't use steel though, except for the corners of the zombie ramp.
