Nice! This was fun! RE: open-faced sandwich base-my favorite base is just a bunch of block stairs, 2 blocks wide, with a hatch or two a few stairs up on one side to funnel the zombies down one lane. At the top you just build a bird cage and some hatches you can raise and lower to guard against cop spit. At the bottom you can make a kind of intake tray to make sure they group together. Then from there you can use grenades and molotovs on the clumps at the bottom of the base, and headshot 2-4 zombies at a time with your M4 or AK. So simple you can build it in 2 hours in-game time.

Hey Glock. This made me think of a challenge you can call "The One Liner". It'd be a base that is a single line of blocks, you get 250 concrete blocks, and you essentially have to create a maze of ups and downs with obstacles that they need to bypass to get to you.

Great vid! I feel like there's *something* weird with cops now. I was using a tower type base, standing on bars (inside a full birdcage) so I could shoot through them. I got hit by cop puke that somehow knocked me through the bars to the ground. I was seriously surprised thinking "wow, I upgraded those bars to concrete, how did they bust them that fast?". I got back to the top, and noticed the bars were still there intact.

Throw using 10x or more cloth for everything... definitely makes you want to just go find a full makeover mod.

the cloth change is ridiculous.. not enough clothes to craft much and cotton with vanilla gathering rates and craft times would take forever. Some items take dozens of duct tape and you end up needing thousands of cloth for big builds.

Stairs with an angle rail block at the top with a walkway to you and hatches is the simplest base ever. But I think Glock could pull off a no base horde series any day of the week.

I think they changed it so cops puke at you without having to see you. I'm impressed you cleared that. I have a suggestion for a horde night challenge; try to survive within the Mushroom Mining Company POI but the only blocks you're allowed to place in are wood spike traps, barbed wire, land mines and campfires. No powered traps or building blocks.

If you made a base like this (with the steel and double out lair). I can see that as a possibility, but if you do, you need to make a roof to protect you from incoming birds and also from the cop puke. If you do, maybe put a junkie turret on top of the roof to shoot the birds? And then think of other factors to consider when making it and executing it in horde night.

Pretty unfortunate that the vast majority of your spikes were worthless since they were placed in the sideways orientation which renders them useless. They can't damage anything unless they are placed in their normal orientation with the base on the ground. If you attach them to the wall like you did, you can run directly into them and you just ghost right through them.

Very curious how this design would do buried in a hillside; if dirt and stone would be a deterrent or if they'd just tunnel in from the sides. I might have to learn some video editing and give this challenge a shot. Think my usual loop base would hold up but there's only one way to find out!

The new zombie AI makes them much more prone to digging unfortunately. And to combat the stress on your system, they started “dumbing down” zombies that are a certain distance away from you. The further they are, the “dumber” they get and more prone to digging. They gave zombies further out a simplified version of the regular zombie AI. At least from everything I’ve read and seen so far.

Would a “stairway to heaven” type of base be possible? I notice the zombies hop step by step to get up. Would that be a feasible base? That’d be a cool idea for a challenge or series (objective being reaching the sky limit but needing to make a step based base).

That’s actually the type of base I always build. Rather than ramp blocks, I use blocks and make them jump up to me behind bars at the top. Put a robotic sledge next to the landing up top and have a tower behind me with a 3 block bridge to the tower. Really effective.

Birds would need to be taken care of. Demo would risk losing your stair, after which they attack the base blocks. But it should be possible.

⁠@@znxster true about the birds! I wonder how the game reacts to players being higher than normal. I’d imagine the birds still spawn above. In terms of the demo, I was thinking making a fairly wide base for the foundation. So even if you have a hole on one side of the stairs, you can make your way on the other side. Though I’d imagine it’d be a gigantic undertaking building a step base as the wider it gets the more material you need to invest. However it’d be the biggest structure to date for Glock which would be cool!

And let me clarify, I don’t go sky high, but that type of base on a smaller scale I suppose was what I meant. Like 20 blocks high is all it takes. And I build a bar cage across the top for bird protection.

@@Johnnyf_ All zombies spawn on the ground about 50ish blocks away (horizontally), even birds. But the first thing they do is to fly up or strait at you if they have a strait path to you. One of the older tricks way to put down a very large floor to keep them from spawning except from a certain spot where they get a obstacle course to get to you. The spawn thing is to keep them from spawning on your base or on lamp posts and such

You should try building the hallway one block up on a plate, like the Taco Truck. Since you leave most of the roof not connected to the walls, Z's see it as a faster point to get to you and start attacking the upper wall block.
