Maybe you can give up snacking altogether for the rest of Lent. :) Go to war against it for this week. You may keep failing, but never stop trying and praying about it and trying to cut out and discover the root causes. God-bless you.

Maybe you could look into mental health and eating. Sometimes it’s emotional hunger and not physical hunger or like avoiding feelings that makes people want to eat more. Anyway God bless ✝️

The Almighty teaches us how to enjoy. This means the basic make up of all humans naturally swerves when it is not guided by anything. I think that is part of gluttony.

Back in February, I had a near death experience and as a catholic I decided I needed to re-engage back into my faith as I don't want to die in mortal sin and be cast into the lake of fire for all eternity. Anyway, I started to attend mass regularly, and looked into what else I needed to do and confession was one of them. I had to reflect on what I have sinned and soon as I did, I realized that I had used the lords name in vein and didn't know it was sinful during that and began to have many intrusive thoughts about solely that and eventually I calmed myself down and then realized I had sins of lust in the most twisted ways and kept getting bombarded by solely those thoughts and eventually it turned diabolical and as of right now my mind has spiraled out of control and I don't know what to do. I have been to confession twice and even thought I felt better at that moment, I still don't feel pure. Today I found myself having those diabolic thoughts on my own using my own will and that terrifies me! Anybody have any advice? The priest I talked to most recently suspected I might be suffering from scrupulosity but I truly don't know. I've been praying to God but I still need help

@@tbone777. at one point I found myself entertaining those diabolic/demonic thoughts which terrifies me and makes me feel like I have committed a grave sin...or so I think, sometimes it feels like I'm obsessed with those thoughts. @@poppyde7314 I went to the church where I first got baptized, sat down and spoke to a priest about the problems I was having, I did mention how the priest I most recently confessed to mention how I was scrupulous and he agreed with that point. He said in short, that in order for me to stop having those bad thoughts and for that scrupulosity to go away, I need to do the following. 1 get up 1 hour earlier. 2. Pray and read the holy Bible ✝️ 3. Regular exercise 4. Regular Sunday Mass. He also said to come back to confession in a month or so. He said if I do all these things, surrender myself to go's and focus on all these things and other positive things that the scrupulosity will go away. I feel a lot better now that I was finally able to talk to someone who actually understands what I'm going through and didn't say something like just forget the thoughts as if it were that easy

People at my church are devoutly practicing Catholics so when I see overweight people at mass I sometimes wonder if it's a self control or maybe a depression issue.
@CatholicTruthOfficial
@CatholicTruthOfficial Жыл бұрын
There are many reasons. Sometimes, it's a health issue. I know someone who is very overweight. She exercises a lot, eats vegan, goes to a dietrician, etc, and no one can figure out what was wrong.🤷‍♂️ Many times, though, for people in this country is an eating problem or depression issue or just lazy.

Perhaps they're going through struggles that we do not know about. We cannot know at which point others are in their spiritual journey unless they tell us. They could be ahead today, they could be behind tomorrow. So let's not concern ourselves overmuch with the heart of others, which only God knows.

Galatians 5 lists some pretty serious sins, including all of the sexual sins, and don't forget that Paul said people who practice these sins will not enter the kingdom of heaven. So they're very serious. Also, remember that a mortal sin is something we choose To do freely with full knowledge, not something that happens by accident or that we just fall into.

Sin gives us pleasure. If sin is not pleasurable, no one would sin. But after we experienced the pleasure of sin follows pain that always accompanies sin. Virtue is hard and painful to practice at first, but after we experienced the pain of practicing virtues comes joy and peace to us. Sin 👉 pleasure/happiness 👉 pain/suffering Virtue/holiness 👉 pain/suffering 👉 pleasure/happiness

@stingingnettle9726 The solution to your problem is you have to acquire first sufficient contrition or to reach a certain level of contrition for at least all your mortal sins because no matter how you rant, God will still not heed your cry and will still not help you or help you much with your problems because you have no or don't have sufficient contrition for all your grave sins that is why even if you repent, your repentance is not genuine and not sincere, hence, your prayers are not answered by God.

@marietav7342

@stingingnettle9726 Your heart is already hardened in sins and you have NO grace of TRUE contrition for your sins that's why even if you repent, it's not genuine, hence, God has still not forgiven and helped you. The cure/remedy to your hardened heart (in sins) is SUFFICIENT TRUE contrition for your sins, at least all your mortal sins because the grace of true contrition MELTS the hardness of our hearts in sins.

What if you choose to overeat so as not to be hungry later at an inconvenient time? For instance, what if I overeat at 12:00 lunch so that way I don’t get hungry during my workout starting at around 4:30? Or what if you’re trying to gain weight?
@CatholicTruthOfficial
@CatholicTruthOfficial 11 ай бұрын
If you are trying to lose weight you do so in a healthy weight like diet, healthy foods and exercise. You should not practice bulimia or unhealthy ways of losing weight. Same with gaining weight. It's probably better to eat more often than overeat to gain weight, or to use protein etc. Also, overeating doesn't really keep you full that much longer. It makes you tired, sluggish, and leads to other issues, so it would probably be better to find ways to eat at other times rather than overeating.

So Paul does say that 1 additional gramm of food that leads to gluttony and thus hell in Galatians 5?
@CatholicTruthOfficial
@CatholicTruthOfficial Жыл бұрын
No, not agladness sends out of the same weight. Eating a little bit extra food does not break or destroy your relationship with God. Continually falling into gluttony can lead to bigger sins. Getting drunk, domestic violence, fornication and other things do destroy that life of grace in us

@catholictruthreplies1333
@catholictruthreplies1333 Жыл бұрын
The rule of thumb is 'everything in moderation'. To that I'll add: and with a clear conscience. More often than not, gluttony is less about whether you're hungry and more about eating just for the sake of it.

Mr RB, If you are full, and you continue to eat anyways, then that would be gluttony. If you have a hamburger and a salad, and you're still hungry, you could still eat more. It's when we don't need food or are full and we take it anyway they it becomes a problem. How that helps
