BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury, who defied stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet.
The film traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound, their near-implosion as Mercury's lifestyle spirals out of control, and their triumphant reunion on the eve of Live Aid, where Mercury, facing a life-threatening illness, leads the band in one of the greatest performances in the history of rock music. In the process, cementing the legacy of a band that were always more like family, and who continue to inspire outsiders, dreamers and music lovers to this day.

Yeah, it's really weird. They make a fuss about that producer complaining about Bohemian Rapsody being too long to be released as a single and then Queen do it anyway and it's a success. Yet, when it comes to the movie they make that very same mistake...

I’d actually go as far as saying that “too long” is a huge part of the real band’s legacy seeing as how most radio in the 1970s would have deemed the song too long yet today it’s played on rather high rotation (at least here in Australia it is).

I saw it opening night and had an absolutely moving experience after. After the movie ended and the credits began to roll everyone in the theater got up and began to file out. Then they started showing real footage of Queen at a concert and every. single. person in that theater stopped dead in their tracks and watched them on the screen. Standing on the stairs, in the aisles, and at the exits they all, we all, stood mesmerized watching them play on that stage decades ago. And when the footage ended the audience erupted into cheers and applause. I openly and joyfully wept. He has been gone over 20 years. That footage was decades old and the very moment Freddie appeared we were all struck and our attention was so easily and readily given to him! He’s still, after all this time, an absolute show stopper. He took absolute command over an audience despite reaching us over a vast expanse of time. It was so moving to see how timeless a person can be that love for them and their art can live on indefinitely. It touched my heart and stirred my soul. Definitely gong to see it again💕

I saw this film opening night in Erlangen, Germany this past Saturday. I took my 2 youngest kids along and they loved it. My daughter kept on hitting me, Dad stop singing! I'm originally from NJ. During the ending credits in a sold-out theater, everybody remained seated til the end watching the raw film of Freddie with the 2 songs playing (Dont Stop Me Now and the Show must Go On). I will never forget watching QUEEN during Live Aid when I was 15 on MTV. The Greatest Live Rock Act to ever to be recorded on film. Prost/cheers from Bavaria. Whenever this comes out on Blue Ray, I'm definitely getting it.

💯I.M.O💯 Brian May had the perfect hair and has such a kind attitude in the movie. 😊 John Deacon waa freaking adorable😣on the movie and I mean that is pretty self-explanatory cos emm... Deaky is adorable. They captured his essence very well. Roger Taylor was a little baby😂 they really paid attention to detail with him and he is such a lil child. As for Freddie himself, he was captured amazingly. I just feel like at moments they could've added a teeeny tinnny bit more personality and detail! Overall he looks alike and sounded, acted alike!😀 Okay, they look alike🤔but the fact their voices and personalities are so accurate in the movie makes it so real! 😊

I thought the movie was amazing. The whole cast was truly remarkable, but I especially loved the small attention to details. The Live-Aid performance could not have been more spot on from the arrangement of the cups on the piano to Rami so eloquently mimicking Freddie's dances/mannerisms. Hell, Rami even did the little tongue flick and danced with the cameraman! Everyone who helped bring this story to life and capture the band's essence from the set to the costumes, to the actors themselves, they all deserve praise.

The third time they opened with Jail House Rock if you can believe it, then right into the rock version of We Will Rock You. When Freddie passed I thought we'd never get another chance to see a performance, but here we are with the closest we'll ever get again, so to quote Freddie "I want it all, I want it all, I want it all and I want it now!"

I am a director, editor and writer and respectfully, it's impossible to try and pack a whole career into an entertaining biopic like this without chopping somethings up, that is with every single movie ever made if it be a true story or not. When you also have the remaining band on board guiding the film, they get final say what they want, given they only have a certain time frame to work with. People today want net flix and mini-series type shows where you get to see something step by step over several long episodes and seasons, you can't do that in a movie. It's always a stigma with these kinds of things. Same happened with Basically any rock biopic as well. People always go "NOPE! that didn't happen there!!" ofcoarse it didn't, Live AID's performance complete was a good chunk of the movie if shown complete and we expect to have the whole 20 plus mins? The art of filmmaking is taking a story and getting people to join the ride, but it's usually only under 2 or 3 hours depending. The directors and editors did a fantastic job with so much information, they had to pick and choose, that's how a movie is made. Now people can go out and watch Live Aid and all of the other things, search and discover on their own.

Every Queen fan complaining about the chopping needs to read the part of your comment about the band - the ACTUAL BAND - signing off on *everything*. That, alone, is rare to have as a lot of biopics are about people who are dead, sometimes with no descendants, family, or friends alive to tell the real story to the filmmakers. Brian and Roger approved everything, right down to the script and casting. Sacha Baren Cohen didn't get the job for a reason. And the final film version as we see it was released for a reason. Real Queen fans should consider themselves lucky, appreciate this great piece of film, and, frankly, stfu. (Can you tell I'm tired of seeing dissenting comments?) Your comment should have more likes and be posted below every single 'Bohemian Rhapsody' video on KZbin.

I am disappointed with one thing in the movie. Leaving out the part how John Deacon join Queen is a big mistake! John is an important part of band history and he also wrote many number one hits. They should have shown less Mary Austin and add John's entry, forexample that moment in the Biba Mary puting make up on Freddie and dressing him is completely unnecessary. I am going to wait the 5 hrs movie I hope John Deacon is better featured in the longer movie.

The scene with Mary applying make-up to Freddie was important to show how Mary understood, or at least perceived, Freddie's inner conflict about his sexual and/or gender identity, and she was encouraging him to be himself. That scene is not superfluous and said much about Mary's character and why Freddie was drawn to her.
@nonnamadonna

i’ve been a fan of queen for pretty much all my live, but recently i’ve been obsessed. i’m 13 years old and from london and freddie mercury has always been my biggest inspiration, since i aspire to be a singer/songwriter when i’m older, i feel i can relate to him a lot! it’s really disappointing because queen aren’t as appreciated as much as they should be at this generation which i think is honesty so unfair since they are legends and they created music like no other. since music and freddie mercury is my saviour, when i found out they were filming this i couldn’t wait!!! rami malek is just outstanding (i watched the film today!) and he is now my favourite actor, i have literally been watching past interviews of him for the whole of these past couple weeks! he is amazing and the whole cast was chosen so perfectly it’s crazy! Bohemian Rhapsody is honestly my favourite movie now and i don’t usually cry in movies, but i was literally just sitting the the cinema balling. To be honest, i genuinely could sit and watch the movie for an hour or two longer, it was just so good i can’t put it into words! unfortunately there’s been a lot of bad reviews about it, but i just think people need to understand that rami wasn’t meant to exactly COPY freddie, he was just meant to make an impression/ take the essence of him hence why he had a movement coach rather a choreographer. i definitely think the movie was as good as it could have been, and rami did a spine-chilling good job! i think it was a great idea to make this movie, so this generation and next generations to come can truly indulge in queen and freddie mercury, it’s what it they deserve. -sasha, love your videos! :)

Lots of movies have been made to last 2 & half hours, and a few even were three (e.g. "Dances With Wolves" starring Kevin Costner & "Legends of the Fall" with Brad Pitt. Both movies were box office hits & nobody seemed to care that they were watching long movies because they were so good the time just went by. I think "A Crazy Little Thing Called Love" and "We Will Rock You" should not have been cut out, but especially "We Will Rock You" because it was one of their all time best hits ever, and It's so cool to hear the crowd singing and clapping with Freddie, and we really got into it in real life. I went to see Queen in high school and we were all stomping our feet and clapping and singing at the top of our voices, and it was my favorite song in the concert because of that. It was only second after Bohemian Rhapsody to me). Geez, they play it all the time at college and pro basketball games! Also they should have left in the seen of how John Deacon got the position of the bassist. He doesn't always get a chance to really shine like the other 3 bandmates. In real life, the concert only focused the spotlight on him once or twice, but the other three got more spotlight moments. They should have given him more spotlights in the movie I'm guessing (I haven't seen the movie yet). He wasn't all over the stage like Brian May when he was occasionally spotlighted running around the stage several times, and Roger Taylor pounding & going crazy on his drums. Deacon kind of stayed in one place on the stage and was perfectly happy to dance around his designated space. He was shy. Maybe it was his personal choice not to walk around the stage, but the spotlight could still have shined on him more than it did. He's an awesome bassist! Please send me some cool "Bohemian Rhapsody"stuff, lol😁😎

I love this movie so much as it has such amazing correlations and similarities which I love. It's also great how people have seen this movie and are now interested in Freddie and queen. It's good to see more people getting involved and learning more about the group

I also saw the movie the other day (Monday). The movie is more about the band itself and the music than about Freddie. If it was about him, they would have gone into depth about his character, parents, relationships, creative process, how he handled being AIDS positive, etc. It was still fun seeing Queen recreated on the big screen, and Malek does a good impression.

I never wanted the movie to end. Give us the option to watch the theater and the extended- then throw in real footage, real Live Aid. I bet 95%-100% watch every single moment about Freddie and real Freddie too. Just such a wonderful thing to see his life. I am grateful I now know all this. He’s such an inspiration to just live by your heart- no matter what anyone else says. Freddie lived by his heart.

While I Thoroughly enjoyed this movie, I think they should have definitely kept John Deacon's introduction scene in there. I realize he was a more laid-back band member, but I felt they should have given him more attention in the movie. Not many people realize how Important John Deacon has been to Queen all of these years! He deserves more credit.

Bohemian Rhapsody was fabulous !! The portrail of Freddie Mercury is incredible. He definitely deserved the award. I feel that how the "Queen Emblem" was inspired should have made it in the movie. I found it to be very thought provoking.

Celebrated my last day before going on a soft-foods diet that comes with getting your wisdom teeth out with eating a large popcorn at the theatre yesterday and crying my heart out. I’m a huge Queen fan and when I heard Rami was playing Freddie because he’s one of my favourite actors and Freddie is one of my favourite people!!!!! This video was really awesome and thank you for making it, I’ve been voicing my concern about the songs missing from Live Aid since I stepped out of the theatre, although I still really enjoyed the movie. One thing that wasn’t’ mentioned was Queen’s additional performance later on in the Life Aid concern of “Is This The World We Created”. Overall thanks for the video and Boh Rhap was amazing!!!

Yes! I loved how they made several jokes about it and kept bringing it back, and the fight they had over it, hilarious. That and recording Bohemian Rhapsody were my favourite parts. Definitely the beginning of the movie had us cracking up before it got darker.

Saw this movie last night with my daughter for her 16 birthday. We loved it so very much. Amazing, well done. Bravo. It moved us so much. We laughed and cried. It touched our souls. We want to see it again and again. The whole day was preparing and listening to Queen. We had to take a drive after and listen to Queen because we were so pumped up. It is all we talked about since. We are forever changed. Truly a work with love. Brilliant. Well done. Thank you for magic.

I watched it live on MTV in '85..I think they should've I'll included "Crazy little thing called 'love'" as well as the rock/champions part. The live show still gives me chill bumps but Malek's portrayal just mesmerized me. He should win Best Actor!

Dear people saying that John's story was glossed over: John Deacon was greatly affected by Freddie's death. He essentially joined Queen by accident and was the youngest member, so Freddie took him under his wing. They were extremely close, and brought out the best in each other. When Freddie died, John felt that Queen had died with him and that it would never be the same. He made about three other live performances with the remaining members of Queen, but officially retired right after. In fact, I've heard stories that after the last live performance, John threw his guitar on the ground and walked off, not looking back because he was just so done with performing without his best friend. Yet John was still hounded by fans for autographs and pictures. He just wanted to live a quiet, private life with his family, and was stressed whenever he had to go out in public. It terrified him. You'd think he'd at least want to meet Joe, but he doesn't want anything to do with Queen anymore. He did not go to the premiere or visit the set because that wasn't his life anymore. It would be an uncomfortable situation for him. The filmmakers couldn't erase John, so they softened his parts to respect John's wishes to not be in the spotlight anymore. None of the band members ever "got over" Freddie's death, but it was just too much for John in particular. Please respect his and his family's privacy.

If he goes all the way to the Academy Awards, that would be amazing. I also love this channel. Keep up the content :)

I personally think the film was enjoyable although not all accurate.... the actors were spot on and the music was perfect and they addressed Freddie’s sexuality very well... seeing the movie on the opening day was awesome because there was me.... a 18 year old surrounded by elderly folk who were happy to speak to me about seeing queen live... all in all this is so far my film of the year

I don't think of myself as "elderly" and like a lot of people I still feel 15 inside, but I was lucky enough to see Queen on a few occasions during 1973-76 and met them twice in 74. It is so amazing to see so many young people enjoying them and getting turned onto their music. I do hope it inspires young people to go and pick up a guitar or other instrument but also to get out to some live gigs in small venues where these bands all start out. Without the venues and new bands rock n roll will be doomed. Glad you enjoyed it, it is very close to the original experience.

Omg it was the best movie I’ve seen in my life! I love the band, and I have been singing their songs since I was 6. The movie was excellent quality and has a good view of the actual band! I honestly wish the movie was longer it was so enjoyable and entertaining! I want them to make a second one. The actors did a great job with the rolls the were given, even though they were hard shoes to fill. I wish I had the movies sound track! I also like how the director and writer fit in so much of their real lives as a band and not just Freddy growing up like most movies. I also love you channel so much and think you’re doing a great job uploading videos every once in a while.

That movie is a great tribute to a legendary rock band and the phenomenal Freddie Mercury who is beyond compare! He left use with a collection of masterpieces that can't be forgotten and are instantly recognizable. The world of music would have been so different had this genius never aspired t become the rock God that he made himself into. Thank you Queen for all the wonderful days and nights of music that carry me through anything that's going on in my life!
