There is another planner on KZbin, planning with peanutty, and she turned an old happy planner that she got on clearance into a junk journal. Similar to swatching washy, she swatched all of her ink pads on one of the pages in each of the blocks. So it’s kind of like a memory planner and junk journal together, she also uses scrapbook paper and different die cuts and packaging from different places she’s been or things she bought. It’s been very interesting to see her process and progress with it.

Love the washi and pen swatch ideas. Journaling is fun in the vertical and I feel like it is not a restrictive as the horizontal.

This is phenomenal and inspiring! I just thought yet another happy planner (those darn clearance sales!) and I didn’t need another ‘planner’. But some of them are so beautiful they are hard to resist especially at such low prices. I’ve been thinking about what to do with it and I thought about journaling or wellness Even though I already have another wellness planner. Thanks for all the inspiring ideas and layouts!

I started watching some YT videos on planners because I like to organize. But I'm having a hard time picking this up. Are people doing this as art projects like "junk journals"? Or journaling like diaries? Or the old fashioned planner/scheduler? Or documenting your life like a scrapbook? I see different people "track" mani/pedis, diet, exercise, books read, books to be read, TV shows watched, "routines", what they ate, their moods, money spent or money saved, water drunk, etc. It seems to be self centered in some cases and like little girls playing with sticker books in others. So I can't seem to put my finger on it. What's the point of these planners if it's not to keep you on schedule? A long time ago I left a binder planner in the dust and went with Google Calendar and OneNote so it's all digital. There is no way I would be carrying around 5 notebook planners or have so many on my desk. I think I've watched 30+ planner videos from different YTers and still can't figure out what the purpose is.

I think you hit the nail on the head, well except for that comment about people being "self centered" and "little girls playing with stickers"😬..Yikes! This type of planning is whatever you choose it to be that's why you see so many people using it differently. I love my pages to be super decorative with stickers, but also functional. It is a place where I can keep track of the things I need to do each day. The whole reason I got into planning was because I was working two jobs and kept messing up my work schedule. Digital options didn't work for me. I was still forgetting that I had work at my second job later that day. For me writing things down in a small little planner that I got for $1 at walmart worked. Once I found The Happy Planner and watched a bunch of videos like you have been doing I found a whole new way of planning that I realized I wanted in my life. The added bonus of being able to be creative is what made me stick with it this type of planning. There are no rules when it comes to planning. We don't judge anyone here on how they decide to use their planners, but we love to share how we use our planners because it might inspire someone to use their planner in a different way that they never thought of before. Paper planning isn't for everyone, but for a lot of us it is more than just writing in your plans for the day and we love that! Sometimes the purpose of something is as simple as making that person happy, something to relieve some stress from the day or just serve the purpose of being a creative outlet. You have to find the purpose for yourself. Hopefully you do, because it is so much fun! 🤗

@@Happy2planwithDesiree Thank you for your kind reply. That does answer my questions. I was getting confused but I guess, like you said, it's up to you what to keep track of. You are very creative and artistic in what you do. Mine just would never look that neat and pretty. I remember when I was still able to work, I literally had to keep a spiral notebook on my desktop to document everything I did because, in that office environment, you could be accused of doing, or not doing, something, my way of CYA. I also am a copious notetaker in my Bible study. So I've also been watching a lot of YTers doing Bible and prayer journaling and there is a lot of art journaling with that too. I blog which is a lot of writing. I also do genealogy and digital scrapbooking so am really into documenting stories. But I was getting such a mishmash that I was getting confused as to the purpose of the planner medium. I'm sorry about stepping on toes.
