You can see his Japanese ju jitsu influence. This type of adaptation is what will keep JJJ relevant as mma starts to force traditional arts to change their methodologies. Good stuff would love to train with you all.

The whole point of the jab is to get their hands up to react. The lead hand (jab) is going to be at least 8-10 inches longer in length than a rear hook. So a right hook counter to a jab, especially in the way we are using the jab (to touch and get a reaction) is not going to be countered at all by a right hook.
