Hi, just wondering if your doing ecommerce deliveries muti drops of crates like supermarket crates (instead of pallets) would a rate based on crate what do u think is a good rate type? I often argue with my outsourced freight providers when they complain about one customer having too many crates. E.g 40.crates vs std of 4. Bt the capacity is 120.
@supplychainsecrets3 жыл бұрын
@@pjmasks7185 You really need to model or 'test' the sensitivity of this. For example, if you pay per crate, does a 100 crate delivery take 100 times more effort than a 1 crate delivery? The answer is no, as a proportion of the time/effort is the same, regardless of the delivery size. Parking the truck, ringing the bell etc. Likewise a drop rate would not work, for the same reason. You really need to model it and come up with volume 'breaks' I think. This video will help: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3quZ51-g9Jqh9U

For road freighting, which one may be a better choice between equiping our own vehicles and collaborating with the third transporting company? What factors may have influences on our decision-making in this process ?
@supplychainsecrets2 жыл бұрын
Number 1 would be fleet utilisation. If that is high, it can be worth doing it yourself. But there are many factors to consider. Number of freight lanes, consistency of capacity needs, capability to manage a fleet in-house......

Thank you for the nice video. In supply chain what is best systems available to track such initiatives. Are we dependent on data from ERP or should we look to incorporating something else. What’s in trend. Thanks again

Many ERPs are quite good and tracking costs and profitability, but most are not. a TMS of some type can help a lot.

Great tips. I would also add. If you have a TMS. Look into the reporting they offer. Work with them to create the BI reports needed.

Interesting...flip side which influences all of above is competitive market factors where conglomerates or even a conglomerate will attempt to close out SC and influence all elements and competitors. Would be a interesting topic to delve into on how companies navigate through this..
