Hi Brian: I've been wanting to send this info for awhile ..I have been viewing Lee of the Asher House for awhile. Recently Lee has a beautiful, loving article heading that says "I can't believe it's been a year since Lillie has crossed over."Lee is sharing his loving, heartfelt, thoughtful mindset that I feel you will relate to..

Ready to crush it in 2025, no excuses! I'll be putting out content constantly. Look forward to spring in our "hood", the scenery is awesome and all the spring fed creeks no one knows about are running at full bore. We'll hit those areas up come the middle part of March!

Thanks for the tips! I went hot tent camping for a few days just before Christmas, and I definitely ran into the ash insulation issue. I figured that out while I was out there which was good, but when leaving, I broke down my stove pipe and there was a frightening buildup of gummy creosote. I looked at the pipe before I went out and it didn't need cleaning, but I didn't look at it again until I was leaving. That was a mistake I won't be making again! I'm pretty sure that I wasn't far away from having a stove pipe fire. I haven't used any creosote remover yet, but I'm going to buy the stuff you use. I'm very glad that I'm learning these things before something bad happens! These videos you are doing could save someones life, so thanks for making them!

If you have a tractor supply or farming supply store, often they sell both soft wood "presto logs" and hardwood type presto logs. ive found after establishing a good bed of coals, throwing in a couple logs every3 to 5 hours keeps the tent warm, and it produces less ash than traditional " fire wood."

The creosote build up at the top is 3rd degree creosote , it builds up on the colder sections of flues when it reaches its dewpoint.

You don’t use a cap on the top of your stove pipe. I use one to keep rain & snow out. Just curious.
@gsp49Күн бұрын
The biggest mistake I see others making with their wood stoves, is no damper in the stove pipe above the stove, that thing will pull like a vacuum cleaner and waste all your firewood without it. At 9:17 I see you have one.
@Mike-du4tq2 күн бұрын
Not all stove pipes are tappered, none of mine are & most folks I know who have had them quit them & gone to straight pipe.
@OffGridBackcountryAdventures2 күн бұрын
That's cool man, I must hang with a different crowd because all of us that full-time winter camp in the mountains seem to use tapered since they pack up with a much smaller footprint. Might be because my crew is the mid-size truck crowd - space is limited!

Can you get an insulated pipe Yes you can
@OffGridBackcountryAdventures2 күн бұрын
Why would I do that when my current stovepipe works just fine??
@georgedavidson79862 күн бұрын
Fire You do not want a fire in your pipe when you are sleeping
@OffGridBackcountryAdventures2 күн бұрын
That will only take place if you don’t clean your stovepipe. It can happen to insulated stovepipes too.
