No idea if you check or read your comments. But I have been watching your video's off and on and noticed that when you talk about fasting it's usually shorter style fasts. 24-72ish hours(like this video) Would you ever consider doing a video on people who do actually do a super long fast, 30-40days? Im not asking if you recommend this type of fasting, but maybe the video could deal with what happens to the body of those who do end up fasting for a super long time? KZbin has people that do in fact do these super long fasts irregardless of wether people think they are safe or not.

Dr Peter Attia advocates HIIT Cardio on 1st day of prolonged fasting to deplete glucose & glycogen stored in muscles & liver... then light strength training to maintain muscle mass. By increasing IFG1 & stimulating MTOR in the muscles, the amount of catabolism of muscle due to fasting is greatly decreased.

Hi Thomas! I have been fasting for one year now, on may 2020, I started IF, but the hunger went away and I started prolonged fasting, first for 3 days, then 5 days for a month, then 12 days, 12 days and 21 days, lost 30 kilos in 2 1/2 months , after refeed and some days later I gained 7 kilos. I started 2-3 days of fasting for 2 months, i was 143 kilos when I started, and I’m 6’2, I went down to 106 kilos, but I gained weight right away 7 kilos after I went back eating and 5 more in 6 months, even though I did keto and IF almost everyday, some months I go for 5 days or 10 days of prolonged fasting, I have been doing 18 hr IF and lifting weights right before my first meal and I have gain lots of muscle I asume due to the HGH in the 18 hr fast, but 2 months ago I’ve notice that I am gaining weight even though I’m doing 2 days water fast every week and eating around 2000 cal, because my stomach can take any more food, some times I do 1 meal and a bullet proof coffee, because it’s too much food. I have done 170 days of water fast in 400 days in total, and taking my electrolytes and teas (ginger, turmeric, green and black teas, etc). In this last 2 months I’ve gained 2 inches in my stomach, doing everything right, now I move to eating my 3 meals a day and trying to eat 3000 calories a day to see if I lowered my BMR of too much fasting, I hope I start seeing some results, I think my body is storing everything I eat in my belly as a distribution center. Do you have any thoughts ? I recently did a 10 day water fast and only lost 1.5 kilos after refeeding, that’s why I am concern ! And some weeks not eating for 2 days and gaining weight in those weeks! Hope you can read this post and give me your feedback, thanks I have lost my weight by using your info in your videos , thnx for sharing your knowledge 👍🏻 !!! I’m very greatfull !!!

i wondered this same thing when i tore a ligament but got no answer. all i kept learning about was intermittent fasting for minor injuries, not major like tendon ruptures. i took it upon myself to 5-day fast anyway during the first or second week of the tear and didnt experience any particular negative. it healed well almost 6 months later. there is just tightness/pain in the surrounding area. not sure what effect fasting had on it, but hopefully you get useful info. im curious what it could be. isnt it just maddening when, of all things that could cripple you for months, its a mundane non-event routine like jump rope?

I am always stressed out...lol but fasting centers me so, to be honest, I hear this but I know if I just power through the first week of alternate day fasting (my sweet spot is 36 hrs, then 2MAD, then rinse repeat), even when I am stressed, my stress levels reduce ALOT after I adapt to my fasting schedule. Anxiety and stress are often more FOOD-related, and often because of insulin response. Stop the crazy blood sugar spikes and adapt and all of sudden your stress reduces and you begin to lose fat AND not feel like a crazy person. For me, I don't bother getting worried about the body effects of fasting with the first few weeks because it's going to suck no matter what, that is part of what you are trying to get your body to overcome. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Also if you DON"T fast what is your OTHER option for dealing with stress? YEP - you eat like a pig AND/OR workout to the point you drain your adrenal function. SO for me the better choice is fasting.

I'd be interested in a video on how to make the best out of a colonoscopy prep! They suggest a low fiber diet coming into the fasting period and then switch to "clear liquids" like filtered fruit juice, which left me hungry for two days the last time. What foods will decrease my appetite while I can still eat? How can I clean out my colon and benefit from a 2-3 day fast, and will the prescribed "clean out" treatment break the fast (Dulcolax, Miralax and liquid magnesium citrate). Oh yeah, and how about the IV fluids they start you on when you arrive for your procedure? If at all possible, I'll be taking a protein shake to the hospital to break my fast after the procedure!

Have you been diagnosed with Afib? If so, I think it’s considered to be dangerous for prolonged fasting. Dr. Joel Furhrman wrote the best book on fasting I’ve ever read. (I have at least 15- 20 books on fasting). He goes into detail in laymens terms, even though he’s a medical doctor turned Naturopath doctor, and has a whole section on heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and other diseases as it relates to water fasting. I can’t think of the title. If you’re interested, check Amazon. That’s where I got my book from several years ago. Also, if you have not been actually diagnosed, certain things like dehydration , anemia and acidosis can mimic heart arrhythmia issues. Hope this helps. Also, I hope Thomas answers your question.🙂

So don’t fast when you’re stressed, don’t fast when you’re bored, don’t drink too much water, don’t exercise in the middle of your fast, might as well not fast. Got it

DAAAMN! HE JUST SAID BREAK THE FAST WITH the LEAN PROTEIN !!!!! I'm shocked!!!! He is actually trying to TELL YOU to damage your body forever! omg.....PEOPLE PLEASE!! dont listen to him!!!! If you ever do a longer waterfast, break the fast with watery fruits, such as watermelon, or any other fruit or veggies with lots of water content.

Those are outside stressors. You can only control the way you respond. Stress does not have to exist for you. You're letting it happen. If you want to give yourself excuses, you're doing well. If you want to fast, you should do some meditation, or sleep better etc. Learn ways to reduce stress. Then fast.:)

Change your political party to one where there is love/acceptance for ALL PEOPLE and not hate, where everyone who is an American has a right to vote, where the color of your skin is not judged as worthy of unfair and often violent mistreatment. Not sure why socialism is even on your radar to stress about, unless you live in Cuba or some other foreign country. In America, we are a Democratic Republic. Look it up.

There’s not anything contradicting in this video. I think you have to look at context. Intermittent fasting is different from a prolonged fast
