Just to clarify, Red Bull did not buy SSV Markranstädt. They just got their spot in the league and took over their first team and coaches (+ youth teams from FC Sachsen Leipzig) to the newly founded RasenBallsport Leipzig club. SSV Markranstädt still exists with 16 active football teams at both youth and senior level. Red Bull first approached St Pauli, Fortuna Düsseldorf and 1860 Munich but they didn't approve of the name and logo changes. Their next attempt was to buy Sachsen Leipzig but it was stopped by a court ruling and fan protests, so founding a new club was their only option.

Red Bull did not takeover SSV Markranstädt, they bought their license to play in the 5th tier of Germany, because if they wouldn't did that, the then newly formed RB Leipzig had to start in the bottom (10th) tier of Germany. SSV Markranstädt still exists and plays in the 6th tier AFAIK. Don't worry, many people get this wrong, but do your homework!

The issue with dual ownership is European qualification. If Both teams under the same owner qualify for Europe, only the best ranked side will be able to seek passage as UEFA forbids two sides who are under the same ownership to qualify. Although, I believe the RB guys had the rules relaxed somehow when both Salzburg, and Leipzig qualified last season.
