Our home gym/theater room needs to function better. 😆🏋🏻♀️ We have a foldable barbell cage in the middle of the room and a projector after. I want this room to function better because I don’t want to constantly fold the barbell rack when someone wants to watch a movie. 😅

Great video as usual, Julie. You understand that we are living in our homes, and the goal is to live in them, not to have a magazine ready photo shoot. But still we want to be comfortable. "Corral the clothes clutter on one chair in the bedroom." Also, we don't have to get fancy or wait to buy stuff. "Put a tray in the entryway, it can be a dinner plate."
@JulieKhuu5 күн бұрын
Exactly! I love that you caught that. You don't need to be a perfectionist or wait for the perfect moment to start! Just use what you have and once you’ve finalized the room routines- invest in the MOST STYLISH piece you can afford 🙌

I have almost watched them all, as I knew nothing about design previously and even things like window treatments and focal points were new words and concepts to me! @@HappyHarryX5 I used to live in the middle of nowhere too but I couldn't stand the snow anymore. Just a little tip: be careful, when you have no neighbours you can't afford to injure yourself without access to your phone... Or to get stuck in your bathroom because you were stupid enough to not put back the door handle immediately :-/ I had to use a bathtub "foot" to use as a lever. It was so hard and scary AF, I knew no one would check on me for at least 3 days, if I got lucky!

@ Oh yes. So glad you were able to get out. Please send snow, there’s a heatwave here in Australia! Before my ex husband left, he woke me up while on the phone to 000 (911) and was unconscious 4 mins later. Learnt the value of having the phone near you at all times. He lived weirdly enough, the ambos arrived at that second.

Coming from a person that grow up in the Philippines its not in our culture for woman to do or fix in the house I grow up that whenever we need something to be fix or build we have to hire the carpenter, a painter etc. Moved her in Canada become a homeowner oh I was terrified even holding a paint brush make me feel.sick in my stomach/ anxiety 😂 I always thought those jobs only professional do a.d I can't! But my Canadian husband said no here as homeowner you to learn to do it yourself because hiring is extremely expensive 😂 long story short I love interior design a d decorating eventually I get so sick of waiting for my husband free time to do the stuff I want do .I started learning just hanging a picture frame to painting now I can do more stuff 😂😂😂 I so proud of myself.

I now have to manually search for your channel now; you never show up in my feed anymore. (Maybe this post will train YT’s sloppy algorithm which could definitely benefit from a JK makeover.)

I think you covered the key things IMO. Definitely budgeting for the not so pretty things vs. the pretty things is important for sure.. Also having a few key tools very accessible means a higher chance that you will do what is needed on the spot. Also, keeping up with slight improvements every year so things always look fresh. Home ownership is a big responsibility, but you also have the freedom to do whatever you want on the inside at least. Very informative. Thanks.

Hey Julie, great video! Moved in Jan 2022 and what a flurry of activity the past 2 years. One challenge is to my husband to conform to room routines, so i feel im constantly tidying up after him. Does anyone else have this challenge of spouses declaring that a home should not be picture perfect?? Any suggestions how to get all in the household to conform to room routines??
@youbetcha1086 күн бұрын
Try to make it easy for them. Baskets to throw things in. Trays to tidy up items strewn around. It’s very very hard to do. Remember how lucky you are to have a family bite the dust and diy. Make it easy for yourself at least. Remember your home might not be perfect but you are!

I set up different room routines for my husband and kids. Low baskets/ open cubbies for the kids to throw their junk into- also color coordinating the toys helps immensely. Hubs gets a chair in every room for his “mess”- only one thing to tidy by week’s end!
@Steph_Renee_RN5 сағат бұрын
Omg I struggle so much with my hubs! He’s got bad ADD and no spatial awareness where I’m incredibly detailed and hyper aware lol. It’s a struggle for sure! I tried baskets and catchall trays for him, but stuff still is in random spots. I’ve talked to him about it and he says he forgets lol! I’m married 15 years this year and he’s only gotten slightly better but I remember he’s my partner through it all and he just isn’t good with the house organization. I’ve done all the painting and house repairs. He’s not good with tools 😂 it is very empowering! I do weekly clean ups now instead of daily and I’ve taken over the kitchen so he knows to keep out! I just try to laugh at it now and remind myself I am grateful to have a home and his love. I still mutter about him driving me nuts when I’m cleaning and he can’t hear me though 😂
