Fun fact: in the Oblivion quest "The Ultimate Heist", the regular guards in the lower floors that try to arrest you and the fancy guards on the upper floors that try to kill you are listed in game as being part of different factions. Since these factions are hostile to each other, if you lead one group into another, these guards tasked with protecting the Imperial Palace will kill each other while the intruder gets off scott-free. Cyrodil's finest, ladies and gentlemen.

Best thing to do is, if you want a orc with a good trait so badly, you can sit and watch him facing another captain and see the result (him gaining from one to three levels), repeat if you want him to be more leveled up before you can recruit him or straight up ruin the after-battle party for the guy and recruit him on the spot

Hile I was walking around at night, I saw the shadow of the dragon in the sky. While I was watching it, I heard a bear growling. Whip around, and it's right next to me, and if the dragon hadnt A) caused me to stop, and B) caused the bear to growl, I would have walked right into him and likely pooped my pants when that rock turns out to be a bear 😅

In borderlands 2 and 3 there are goliaths in bandit camps. When you shoot the helmet off of these guys they become enraged and start attacking whoever’s closest to them, friend or foe. The real benefit of this is that after the Goliath kills an enemy it will heal and transform again and again allowing them to kill more enemies and dropping better loot when they get killed.

I was about to mention this as well. The times I went to the valley of the Fire Hawk cultists, snipe off a Goliath's helmet, then make some distance and watch the bodies fly. Playing Zer0 made it so much easier to avoid getting killed myself since he has his cloaking ability. And if you had his explosive decoy and status kunai perks, you can trick a Godliath into attacking your decoy, pelt him with kunai, and since some of the kunai apply slag status once the decoy explodes, the Godliath trying to attack the decoy will take a huge amount of shock damage and pretty much instantly die with very minimal work having to be done yourself.

In WoW, Priests have an ability called Mind Control that does what it says on the tin, but even better than that was an ability that Outlaw Rogues had during Legion called Bribe. You would give an NPC a fake coin to work for you and start killing other mobs, until they realize the coin is fake after 30 seconds and turn on you. One of the most hilarious explanations for taking control of an enemy I've seen in a video game.

Similar to this is AC3 where you can grab an enemy soldier and use them as a human shield against musket fire. Despite having plenty of time to choose to spare their comrade, the soldiers will instead sacrifice them to try and hit you through them. In Don't Starve, getting enemies to kill each other is a semi-regular thing to do, and you can even do it to several bosses! Most of the enemy mooks in the open world areas of Dragon Age: Inquisition will fight each other. You might see rebel Templars fighting apostates, bears attacking bandits, demons attacking Freemen (a group of deserters) or undead fighting Avvar barbarians, depending on where you are. There’s also one notable encounter on the Storm Coast where you see a giant fighting a dragon.
@mathewwilkins1613
@mathewwilkins1613 Жыл бұрын
Most of those are scripted though. The Templar/mage fights are set dressing, the dragon/giant fight is a one off set piece for world building and the Avvar fighting the demons is an agent recruitment opportunity. You do get NPCs fighting but you usually have to bring them together and even then they concentrate on your party more than eachother.
@healsallwounds

@@mathewwilkins1613No, most of them are not scripted. There's actually two ways to do this: you can either use the Plasmid called Hypnotize Big Daddy (which does exactly what it says on the tin), or you can try and trick an enemy into accidentally hitting them. If fact, this actually becomes really useful in Bioshock 2, during the parts where you have to take on a Big Sister. In Horizon Zero Dawn, there is an arrow that can make the dinobots kill each other, I've used them on the part of the map where there are 2 Thundermaws and if there is a lake with a few aligator bots around. Also, there was a part of the story where you have to infiltrate a camp where there are chained dinobots, all you have to do is break the chains and the bots would kill most of the enemies there...

Doom may not have been the first game to have enemy infighting, but it has a powerful claim... There's also NetHack, where wearing a ring of conflict (that makes everyone attack each other) is considered a great strategy. Just make sure your pet isn't nearby, because it'll attack you and it's usually quite stronger!

Also, Midnight Sun. Where the Dark Hunter and Scarlet Witch both have cards that will cause enemies to attack other enemies. This can be cast on bosses to cause them to kill their minions on your behalf.

A couple of examples that I can think of where you can trick enemies into killing each other is Doom and it's sequel Doom 2 hell on earth. The demons and the possessed will upon taking damage from one another will cease trying to kill you in favor of killing their fellow monsters. There's also Alien Isolation, tossing a noisemaker near a group of human enemies will get the attention of the xenomorph who will kill them for you. Be careful when doing this however as the xenomorph will now be hunting for you.

There are a lot of classic games that could be on here. Pretty sure there are Wolfenstein games where the enemies attack each other too. Thief as well. There's a particularly interesting one (it might be one of the Thief Gold levels) where a group of guards is talking outside, and they go inside right before another group patrols by. But if you frequently pause and unpause the game, it makes the guards restart their dialogue, so they'll still be outside when the second group patrols. Do that, and the two groups will fight each other. It puts the survivors on alert, and you start nearby enough that they'll probably find you, but it's still fun to see at least once.

I said the same, lol. That was my method. I wasted one on the first attempt because I wasn't close enough and just swung at the air. The second one connected and it was a breeze. I was relieved to see that the 2nd shark that dropped from the ceiling has notably less health than the first one, so he was easier for me to kill after he took care of the first one for me. That fight was honestly a lot easier for me than I expected when going into it.

Another fun one. In the original Doom, way back when, if you could get two demons of different species to accidentally hit each other, they'd keep attacking one another. If you came across a room full of mixed demons, just firing a rocket or something in there to stir them up, letting friendly fire happen, then bailing out was a good strategy.
