I became a fan after accidentily seeing an Elvis' fragment on t.v. and it then suddenly struck me Elvis had "something". I started to by cd's, films and books and since then I have been a fan. Elvis Presley's singing gave me great comfort and joy. I do not understand why Elvis only got 1 grammy award. My heart breaks when I think of the way he was mistreated by a lot of the people around him. First and foremost Tom Parker and Priscilla B., the evil allies.

It is amazing just how incredible Elvis's vocals were, powerful, smooth, raunchy, even operatic and he could sing anything in so many different genres and styles and completely master them all, this is UNIQUE to Elvis. In all my years I never heard of any other artist who could pull this off, or do it so well. Most artists seem to be suck in one vocal style but Elvis could bust out into anything. The man was in a league all of his own. Seems each passing year people are beginning to realize just how special and different Elvis was, we won't see his like again. Incredible man!

This is an impossible task. You made some incredible selections. Jailhouse Rock is very underrated as a difficult song to sing. His ability to sing both raspy and beautiful at the same time is amazing. Also, many don't take into consideration how precisely he sings every word and no word is wasted. Incredible. The 1961 original of Can't Help Falling in Love is a thousand times better than the 1969 (or any) versions. Other great selections would've been: Blue Moon, Such an Easy Question, Surrender, They Remind Me Too Much of You, Because of Love, Hurt (Live) and many others.

How can someone sing so many different types of songs and have different sounds with his voice. This should be studied. Who else does this?

Elvis Presley fue un barítono kavalier durante su juventud. En su madurez cambió a un barítono dramático. Él tuvo una voz privilegiada.

Why not let us HEAR it instead of telling us about it ? Let it play !

On many of his studio recordings he did lots of takes. On "Hound Dog" there were 31 takes for example.

But were they blended together like a Frankenstein or did they just pick one? What I meant is I think he avoided the Frankenstein technique. Nice info !

@@CrazySinging You are right in that regard. He did multiple takes of "It's Now Or Never" and wasn't able to hit that note correctly at the end. He was advised that they could splice the tape. But Elvis insisted he was going to do the entire thing all the way through (including that magnificent ending) in one undivided piece. And he succeeded!

I can hit every note here but that's only half the battle...its making it sound good too. Elvis did that in spades. My highest is Bb but that's my absolute limit...and I sound like a cat. Then there's consistency too. Some days I can hold and sustain a high A and other days my voice will just give up and give out every time. No way would I be able to go out on a stage night after night and have the confidence to even try some of his high notes. Elvis just went about nailing it whenever he wanted 😅. On top of this Elvis's range went even further. I'm pretty sure I heard him hitting a high C live. His voice was crazy.

the difficulty is very subjective. Some songs are not hard for some people but again, there might be certain song segments that are very difficult. the difficulty is that elvis could to it well. many can sing these songs but just not very well. For example any song that has a yodal in it, such as Tryin to get to you, since many or most singers can't yodal, so they will never make it as good as Elvis did it. I think "one night" is very tough to do, the way elvis did it. and there are other examples too.
