7 Key Takeaways from the Earth 2 White Paper

So, the Earth 2 whitepaper just dropped and here’s 7 key takeaways that stood out to me. If there’s anything I miss or you like the sound of, be sure to let me know. But first up we have:
1: The Essence token has been cut from a max supply of 5 billion to 1 billion. Shane had previously mentioned the supply would be reduced and hinted at somewhere between 3-4 billion. So I think the drop to 1 billion was a huge shock to most of us.
2: Essence will become a disinflationary ERC-20 Utility Token initially launching on the Ethereum Blockchain. So there we go there’s been a ton of speculation on which chain Essence will launch on and now we know for sure. However I will leave the finer details to the E2 folks more into the crypto world, feel free to let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
3: Tier 1 Jewels will be capped at 150 million and that’s with 69 million having already spawned so far.
Now to me that’s huge. I’ve been collecting my jewels daily since they first launched and still have nowhere near enough to fill my own properties or cydroids with Tier 3 jewels. If we think it takes 9 tier 1 jewels to create a Tier 3 jewel or 18 tier 1 jewels to create a multicoloured tier 3 jewel I can see that supply getting used up fast especially if we get waves of new players coming in who haven’t be collecting them for years.
4: Only 5 million First Gen Cydroids may ever be built. Now just to put that into perspective there’s already 2.2 million first gen cudroids in existence. So we’re pretty much already halfway there before the token or E2V1 drop. We will see second generation cydroids but these won’t be able to raid e-ther, instead they will focus on resource occurrence units.
5: Civilians will have a maximum supply of 500,000 each. So previously there was no cap or at least no cap that we knew of so this is a pretty big deal. If you didn’t know already, civilians automate the raiding process for us, so this cap essentially limits the number of properties to 500,000 that will be able to initiate auto raiding.
6: The first 25,000 Tier 2 to Tier 1 tile upgrades in each of the land upgrade methods (Essence alone, Essence + Red Energy, Essence + Yellow Energy, Essence + Blue energy and Essence + Green energy) in each country will receive a permanent boosted base E-ther spawn. The boosted E-ther spawn rate on a Tier 1 Special property will 5x the base E-ther spawn rate, higher than a standard T1 but still less than a T1 + EDC. So that’s a huge bonus and I have no doubt it will get people using up their Essence for land upgrades, increasing the scarcity. But it’s also going to reward the players who’ve been actively playing and generating these energies, allowing them to get the boosted tiles.
7: Mini games are coming! To be fair I think a lot of us knew this from watching the recent E2V1 gameplay videos. However what you might not have known is there’s a new function called broadcasting coming which will allow players to broadcast ads to players waiting in the lobby to start mini games on their land in exchange for withdrawable E$s. Although this will require crafting.

3:00 they secretly already have "special properties" with 88% default essence detection rate (without adding jewels) instead of the normal 80% default. I have a few near where Frommy's tiles are.

@@Paceys if you go to slot the jewels in on certain properties, you'll see most are 80% before adding jewels but a few "special areas" like Frommy's tiles in Russia, will show the 88% ether detection rate before adding any jewels. I'm surprised nobody else has spotted this apart from me :)

EDC is the Essence Distribution Commitment. It was basically an airdrop a couple years back that attached minimum amounts of Essence T1 plots would produce.

One takeaway I got and didn't like is the part talking about placing ads. There are going to be so many people and companies posting ads on here I just hope we don't end up bombarded with a million ads while we are playing the game.

but the ads are broadcasted by the players by staking essence and you make money on it while 50% of the essence gets burned… does facebook pay you for running ads? does youtube pay you for running ads and giving you a share of the profit? Earth2 is on a league of its own

@passingcloud01 you likely won't run your own ads. They will come from companies/ad networks. It's the equivalent of people making video for YT and getting a share of the ad revenue of ads that play on your videos.

What I found is they're zero-ing in on metrics which allow the players to get the idea of supply.. NOW, once supply is indicated, then you get to estimate for yourself the demand there will be and this leaves only some small variable list for what the value will be. I've spent a ton of my Tier 1 jewels to make 2 and 3s... I have every slot (I know of) filled and have been refining to remove any conflicts by picking a couple properties at a time since I've started. I for some reason got really into the Jamaica, Sunrise and Sunset jewels and holy shoelaces do I have a lot of those! I must have spent 3 to 4 thousand E making them... especially early on. haha This could be good or er... expensive!

Wait a minute? I didn't see the jewel caps. So once the tier 3 jewel cap is hit we won't be able to create anymore?

It's a cap on tier 1 jewels. Once that cap is hit we won't have any more jewels to be able to craft T2 and T3 with.

Would that then not make an ordinary tear 1 common with time date and place rare and valuable. Like the very 1st teir 1 uncharted the same as coins and stamps of 1st issue in mint condition. This could mean a T1 common would be more valuable to a collector than a T3 😮

Who are these waves of new players you’re expecting to come in? All of these systems are so obtuse, imo purposefully so. There are huge barriers to entry. There’s also no game. Why would I sign up for something that states, before mini-games even exist, that I’ll be subjected to ads while I’m in a lobby for said mini-games? That’s the reddest flag I’ve ever heard of. Why would ANYONE who hasn’t already sunk huge amounts of time and money into this project ever get involved in any way? Please, I really want to know. Because what I just heard sounds like the worst investment (and game) imaginable.

Earth 2 will be free to play. There's no need for anyone to sink tons of money into it. But some of those that do will own the tiles the ads play on and in return get a share of the revenue. But most players won't need to know these complicated system or even need to buy anything. They will simply jump in for the 3D world gameplay.
