Let us be free. When I see my image in a mirror, I do not see myself as others see me. Maybe they don’t see me at all. And I realize my reflected image is that of myself as I am and perhaps even more so as a self, a person that I am not, the image of someone who is changed, who is no more. Shame and pride are the same encircling serpent, the serpent coiled to strike at the heart of the slave to the image. Bring the monster to the foot of the Cross. Believe Jesus.
