Hi Rita, it would be interesting to know something about Portugal dressing style. Thank you.

The best video so far, it would be nice if you can do the best timeless pieces for each category. For example bags, shoes, basics etc. Can’t wait to see your next videos.

Great topic! I live in Paris and wool coats are a must here, women are collecting them in thinner and thicker variations and wear them from September to June (no kidding!). Young girls do wear leather jackets even when freezing and older ladies (and gentlemen!) are still relying on trench-coats in Autumn and Spring. On a personal note, my staple is a Tank française watch from Cartier, wearing it on its own elevates every outfit.

I like my clothes and accessories to have re-use value to someone, when I pass them on. I might or might not recover part of the purchase price, but I know that high-quality items in classic styles and breathable natural fabrics and materials, are much more likely to have a second life if they don’t work out for me. A trendy, polyester top or dress is worthless and polluting, but a classic silk shirt or skirt, for example, if cared for well, will always be of interest to secondhand shoppers or donation recipients, because it has both intrinsic value and enduring style. Plus, synthetic fiber items aren’t useful for all those casual clothes that will end up in the biggest resale markets, in Africa, whereas a solid cotton tee, trousers or skirt will be very useful. Although, I just learned that bras are in great demand in that market. I often bought expensive bras that didn’t work out, now I wish I had donated them, instead of just throwing them away. (My favorite bra style that I ended up with is an inexpensive one, after all those years of experimenting with $100 Nordstrom bras, I wish I had tried cheaper ones earlier, too, more expensive isn’t always better!)

I invest more in: tailored items like coats and blazers; leather footwear, belts and bags; and silk and merino/cashmere clothing, which I love because I can’t wear polyester or acrylic; a few jewelry items; and good silk (love) or cashmere scarves. The bulk of my clothing is cotton, linen or rayon/lyocell, which I also love because it’s plant-based, cool and highly breathable (these are not synthetics, but are manmade, cellulosic fabrics, unlike synthetics, which are plastics made from petrochemicals). Viscose is also very comfortable, but, except for the new eco-friendly versions, uses a very toxic, cyanide-based process in its manufacture). It is possible to have a synthetic-free wardrobe, I just buy a few pieces as I can afford them, I don’t have a big wardrobe budget at all. I would rather have one nice silk shirt for the same price as 2 or maybe 3 polyester ones that raise a rash on my skin and don’t breathe (I noticed at designers are trying to sell recycled polyester ones for the same price as silk)! Might as well wear Saran Wrap as polyester.

I've never thought of buying clothing items as an investment but I totally see what you mean! Some garments are definitely worth buying in terms of quality, wearability, etc. I try to stay away from fast fashion but I find it really hard to find "good investment" clothing items for a reasonable price from local brands. Cost of production, low volume of items can make their final price tag quite high. Maybe buying from less known Ukrainian brands that ship worldwide could be a solution.

Hi Rita, thanks for great video and lots of useful info, I love watching videos about Investment pieces and curating the wardrobe which could last over the years. I have a question though, if you could give me an advise, I bought a beautiful pink blazer online, but when I received it it seems like it’s a size bigger than I need, but of course being a sale item, there is no more smaller size left for me to exchange. Now I having a dilemma, wether to return the item, or keep it and try to alter it slightly, good mid range brand and such a beautiful colour and design that I afraid I might not find similar.. Thank you, hope to hear from you your opinion. xx

Boutiques in the US are much more expensive than high-street items. Many of the items are from Alibaba or Amazon with 100-500% markups, beware.

I like your English channel better. Because these is less chance to hear any common " обалденный блин". Your English is quite fluent, though rather unnnatural. No English sentence structures, no English intonation.
