This is a few years old. In 2023 there are many sharp espadrilles available. I have a blue knit cotton with short laces by Mod Shoes. @lenocman25 жыл бұрын
Suede is not meant to be worn in the winter. Suede leather would be exposed to the elements if worn in the winter, when it is more likely to rain and snow (depending on where you live of course). As we know, suede does not endure wet conditions well at all, and would stain so easily in the rain and snow. Suede shoes tend to be sold with the option of unlined uppers, hence why suede is prefered in spring and summer

@tvdd95145 жыл бұрын
I actually have to disagree. I think it is possible to wear sneakers with a suit. I've done it and it looked great. Just make sure it's a very formal sneaker for example a complete white leather sneaker and also don't wear a shirt underneath the jacket but something a bit less formal for example a turtleneck or just a normal sweater. If you're young it's a great look, I promise.

@@tvdd9514 So true. Personally, I would much rather wear a pair of more casual jeans with a nice pair of leather sneakers than with a more formal shoe. Somehow the examples Sven showed, especially the ones while talking about sneakers seemed really off with a lighter pair of jeans for there was this discrepancy between the casual light coloured denim and the more formal shoe. Another point I feel has been greatly ignored is when you would want to go even more casual with, perhaps, a pair of nice looking linen shorts. You can't just slap on your monk-straps and call it a day.

It's his style. Quite old fashioned these days but classic nonetheless. I follow a lot of his advice but just make sure I go with a more modern slimmer cut
@AlphaWolfOverman026 жыл бұрын
It's one thing to wear oversized pants since some can pull it off. It is another to wear these calf-clinging, tapered ankle pants that I see celebrities wearing these days claiming they are "fitted"; they are an atrocious style and if any tailor thinks they would get me to wear those they've got another thing coming! What is more, how folks show their ignorance today, some claim up and down in bespoke forums today that's how pants looked in the '60s. A crock if any! You didn't see Sean Connery or Roger Moore wearing something like that. They wore hand tailored, crisp straight leg worsted slacks that did not look even the least bit ill-fitted.
@matts94846 жыл бұрын
Selim Sultan Akbar Neither, just curious why such a mix if baggy and fitted. Top is more fitted and the bottom is baggy. I am genuinely asking, "why"?
@AlphaWolfOverman026 жыл бұрын
Matt S It is NOT baggy. See, this is the problem. The perception, that some of you 'think' it is baggy, when it is not. They are tailored to his appropriate body shape. What is more, men in the 50s and 60s wore these the same way, if not at times even wider in leg than what you see on Sven. Examine a photo on Pinterest of any American Sears advertisement, Oakbrook casual slacks for instance, and you will see the very same thing. In contrast, there was also the 'Teddy Boy' narrow cut that lasted for awhile, but even those weren't overly slim to the point of ridiculousness. Both were fitted to their style. Don't listen to these current millennial fashionists that claim that anything that isn't slim fit enough is baggy because they don't know what they're talking about, they've got it ALL wrong. Also, unless you're a tall thin stork of an individual, quit it with the slim fit because some of you look like you're struggling to pull on into the Sunday school suit of a child it looks so ridiculous. This isn't to say that this is all you are saying when you ask why, I am speaking in general about the misconceptions that this generation has these days about what is baggy, fitted, and slim. Baggy didn't mean then what some believe it is today, and its inaccurate.

Gentleman's Gazette Sir, I love your videos, and threw them I have lurned a lot. I have resuched and have found that they insolate, breath, and do a lot better job in the rain than anything else. But when it comes to places I can even look to try and find a pattern to make a Victorian Oprah cape myself , there is absolutely nothing, not to mention the fact that no one else really thinks about this protecular item of clothing, so in doing so you could help me in bringing back this interesting and functional peace of clothing into the men's wardrobe, the only reason it was gotten rid of was for the industrial revolution where the cape would get cought in the gears and working of factors, that we are no longer around today meaning it can get brought back. So could you not only help me find out more about this peace of clothing but also bring it back into the modern world

Hi Sven, I like the channel, however everything appears to be geared towards only pushing super luxury/high end product from your store. This is fine, however there is not much content regarding budget products or style shortcuts that can be taken on a budget.
@SSS-mp8th6 жыл бұрын
Sven has addressed this a few times in his videos. You have a couple of options and the best one is thrifting. You can find many quality garments in thrift or vintage stores. If you really want new then you will need to save up and purchase some wardrobe staples than can be combined to create many different outfits. There are a number of direct online manufacturers that create quality garments and shoes for less than you will find in upscale retailers.
@MattyVice6 жыл бұрын
SS S I understand that, however the way he presents himself is as though if it is not expensive and superb quality then it is Garbage; which is obviously untrue. He seems to be very successful and buys top tier products; however the perception is as though he is better than everyone else. At least these are my thoughts. Not saying it is true, saying it is the perception. Long and short of it is, it's unrelatable.
@jonstern75116 жыл бұрын
I find Sven's pushing of products from his store very restrained and I certainly prefer it to sponsorship that compromises the content like in other well known style you tubers. His style is what it is and as you say mostly at the top end of the market. I use the advice and scale it down a little to my price range, for instance I will buy good British shoes but not bespoke ones and fairly reasonable knee high socks from Amazon rather than Sven's own ones which are a bit more expensive (but that I still may try sometime together with some of his other accessories). I find the videos an inspiration. You can look good still by following a lot of his points and scaling it down a bit and buying a bit cheaper
@gondolin126 жыл бұрын
I think the main point is not to buy high end brands but trying to find high quality products and I agree with the comment saying about to scale it down to your budget. First, great video and great channel. I've a few random thoughts....I really like that you are who you are and your advice is great. Occasionally, because we are different to you in personality and style we might want to diverge from it (for instance, though I don't do it myself I wouldn't want to say that someone couldn't wear sneakers with a suit. I reckon a youngster with the right attitude could pull it off). I agree about the shoes with the brightly coloured sole - I find them clownish too. But I don't like contrasting laces for the same reason. Finally, I've tried no show socks a few times and never got them to stay in place on the heel. I like the idea but for that reason I go sockless in summer (which does mean I don't often get the chance to alternate the summer shoes with classic shoes and am restricted to the types I can wear something sockless)

I disagree with the sneaker part. Many sneakers nowadays are not intended for sports anymore and remain just as a legacy of early gym shoes, but nowadays are just casual shoes that can be paired with chinos or even trousers, specially all white and all black plain sneakers. BTW this doesn't apply to any contemporary performance sport shoes (except maybe some understated designs found in tennis shoes and other sports).

oow, but wearing tapered jeans with a tight pin-roll along with some loafers looks so good. And I'm not talking the bulky 50s style penny loafers, but the modern loafers that have a dress shoe silhouette, much like the jordaan loafers from gucci.
@caligulajodorowsky6 жыл бұрын
Loafers are also great although they're a notch more feminine than white sneakers (which are already unisex). If you already have skinny ankles, wearing sockless loafers with slim tapered jeans with a pin-roll crop combo makes the ankle/feet look even more delicate so stay aware of that (ofc some can use this to their advantage).

Another good Sven. I am wondering do you ever wear sneakers? I am guessing you don't wear sneakers. Would you please do a video giving your thoughts on sneakers? Would you also talk about the different types of sneakers, when to wear them and how to style or match them with which outfits?

A lot of great advice here but . . . no mention was made of Espadrilles to be worn as a Summer option, especially with shorts and a linen shirt. Do you agree?

Driving shoes are like glorified slippers, they have very little interior support and usually a fairly narrow and thin sole. These shoes are made this way so that while driving you can easily feel the pedals with your feet and the narrow sole prevents the edge of a wider sole from catching the edge of a pedal accidentally. The more they are genuine driving shoes, the worse they are for walking, I learned this the hard way at the expense of my poor feet.
