⭐⭐⭐ IMPORTANT Additional Information - ALWAYS loosen oil filler plug first ⭐⭐⭐ Before removing the oil drain plug and draining the oil, first make sure that you are able to get the filler plug loose, so that you know you'll be able to fill the gearbox with oil again, after the old oil has been drained.

Australia... Awesome. Seems like the Hilux is also popular there... vey popular here in South Africa. I'm sure you'll be happy with that Hilux... we really happy with ours... good amount of power for the size engine but a little heavy on fuel though, but not too bad. Stay in touch and thanks very much for the response.

always remove the fill plug first. That way you aren't stuck with an empty gearbox and no way to refill it.

Hi Gregory, thank you. Are you busy with some work on a vehicle? There are a couple other videos about changing shocks and replacing a clutch if you interested. Posted the clutch video yesterday. Feel free to share with others, I need all the help I can get to grow the channel.

New to your channel... I was looking for your teardown rebuild for a Bosch 18V drill and found this one, so I stopped to see it, and looked it to be OK, and I only have a humble suggestion: When performing any kind of fluid change on a vehicle, ALWAYS do a perfect cleaning of the filling and draining plugs surrounding area, preferrably using a pressurized can of something like "brake cleaner fluid" or "Carburetor cleaner" that completely evaporates. In that manner, you will be perfectly able see ANY leak and be sure if your plug's washer truly sealed, specially after doing a little driving around, and then you know that your job was perfect and its is completely finished andv"ready"! Now, lets see if I can find your video on the Bosch 18V-50 drill repair!... BEST WISHES FROM MEXICO!

Hi Alfredo, welcome and thanks for the comment 😁 and a huge hello from sunny South Africa. Hope you found the Bosch GSB 18V-50 teardown video... if not, here is a link kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqGpomuJlMyeeM0 Thanks for the cleaning suggestion... it's a fair suggestion and I think a good point so thank you. I'll have to see if I can sneak it into the next service videos coming out (might be a bit tricky because they are already filmed though... haha).

Hi David, thanks for the comment. Unfortunately I don't have a vehicle with an auto that needs changing, repair or an oil change... Both our Hilux gearboxes are manuals.

Full the oil, or fill the oil?

One would normal fill the oil I suppose, or more correctly fill the gearbox with oil to a certain level… haha. Where in the video are you making reference to that?

Hi Jordy, thanks for the comment. I'm not 100% sure but at a guess, I would think the casings are the same but likely have different gear ratios. Well, the 4x2's will the the similar and the 4x4's will be the similar. Came across this website if it helps? www.vmn.com.au/resource-centre/drive-train-gearing-bible-for-the-toyota-hilux/

Thanks for the reply man! I ended up taking it to a mechanic but cheers for the link its about due for changing again! Shes got just over 350.000ks.. 😂 saying that shes still going strong! Just want to keep ontop of everything so she stays healthy!
@GrantBurton3 жыл бұрын
350 000km… still a spring chicken in Toyota terms… haha. Did you have to replace / repair your gearbox? Or just the clutch? I could understand the clutch assembly needing to be replaced but the original gearbox should still be good. I also have a 99’ model Hilux, 2.0l SR and that’s also still going strong. I guess also in need of a clutch change sometime soon though, although it’s only got 177 000km on it.

I put a new clutch in cause i thought mine was on its way out.. turns out it still had heaps of meat on it 😅 this is very true ive heard nothing but good things with the 1gr-fe motor. Saying this though i rely on it for work.. if i cant get to work i dont get paid as i run my own buisness so i wanna keep ontop of everything! Its been a very reliable car (touch wood) i havnt had to do anything to it besides the clutch and ive owned it for over 2 years! Can't say as much for my commodores 🙄

My mate has a deisel pre facelift n70 and the poor guy has had nothing but problems with his.. he paid twice as much as i did and i have a facelift n70 (im not joking he paid more than double)... his auto blew.. his gone threw 3 alternators and a few other grenlins.. i love my v6 rig has so much more get up and go than the deisels too!

So that was a KUN16R 2006 Hilux you did the oil change on ? Don’t suppose you have the costing on the Toyota oil do you ?
@GrantBurton3 жыл бұрын
Hi Danny, I believe it is… Wasn’t sure on the KUN16R model nunber but a quick google search seems to show it’s the same model… 2.7 litre VVTI 4x2 Hilux. I can’t remember off hand how much the oil cost but I can fish out the receipt and let you know once I’m near the paperwork again.

Hopefully you get this i am not sure whether you said this was a auto or a manual transmission. I have auto and it needs doing. Thanks
@GrantBurton3 жыл бұрын
Hi Caroline, It's a manual transmission. Autos don't have a clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing... they work with a torque converter so maybe its your converter thats gone bad, or maybe its a little low on Automatic Transmission Fluid... maybe check your oil level first. Thanks for the comment.

I have a GD6 Auto 2018 and recently had the Kenya dealership change all the oils. About 8k km later I am having shifting issues with big jerks to the car and looking into it is seems the old level is too high. There is a check plug where oil should not run out once the gearbox is at about 51deg, mine is running out at when cold. I have read that too much oil causes foaming and lubrication failure. I would not follow this advice and check better explanations for your specific car

Its same for 4x4?
@GrantBurton3 жыл бұрын
Hi Frank, The 4x4 is different to the 4x2 transmission. The 4x4 has a separate transmission and transfer case. I believe the transmission takes 2.2 litres and the transfer case takes 1 litre and I think it requires a 75W90 GL4 oil (but rather check with your service manual / service agent to confirm the type of oil).

How many liters do you fill the gearbox tank with oil? Dct L3 BYD
@GrantBurton3 жыл бұрын
According to our vehicles Owners Manual, the Toyota Hilux 2.7 VVTi 4x2, the gearbox requires 2.6 litres of oil. 06:28 The best idea is to check your Owners Manual or contact a service agent for the make and model of your vehicle, and ask them how much oil your gearbox requires. If you make a mistake and don't fill the gearbox with the correct quantity, it can get damaged.

Bro giving bad advice, always take the filler out incase you have issues e.g strip bolt etc.. then your not stuck with no oil and a stuffed bolt 🤷
