As a SAn I find many African immigrants coming to SA very disrespectful and condescending. I find that many of them subconsciously don't believe that living a prosperous life is African enough. As a foreigner living in South Africa for 15 years. I can attest that south Africans are by far the most welcoming Africans on this continent. Full of culture, very loyal as friends. They just ask for simple things. Respect their country and the law. That's is not too much to ask. Everyone expects that in their country.

We truly appreciate this instalment fam any you're right on the money about everything.Yes crime is an issue here but with millions of illegal foreigners here doing anything to survive, the problem is clearly not of our making alone. And because most African countries don't have resources and manpower to compile credible crime stats they all make it look like there's very little or no crime in their countries.Public infrastructure is funded by the state and even under apartheid this was the case so it's not true that SA was built only by certain people. And most private sector companies still get investment from the state so that they can build office blocks, malls, residential estates etc but a lot of people from the continent don't understand this because it's not done in their countries. We cannot downplay the many challenges we're faced with but SA is an amazing place to live and I'd never change it for any country on earth.Keep doing great fam,South Africa is now your home 🇿🇦.

South Africans are patriotic but welcoming as well.. they do not tolerate nonsense behavior from anybody, be it from outsiders or our own locals. We are very persuasive and vocal about things we need and do not need in our country and our democracy allows for us to influence our gorvenment to take certain actions to improve the standard of living of our people. We have the highest number of immigrants in our country than any African country, it wouldn't be the case if we were as Xenophobic as they describe us. Our major problem is corruption and systematic racism that still exists. However, we are known for fighting for what we want to fix than running away from our country. One love

The Xenophobia topic is very VERY complex. I guarantee you that each time there is an episode of Xenophobia attacks in SA, it's a result of a crime that was committed by someone of a foreign nationality. Xenophobia attacks is obviously not the best way of responding to such situations. But it's put in a way that South Africans just randomly go attacking people of foreign nationality, which is false. But then again It's much more complex than how i have put it with much more arguments made

@@tua-tuna I am very sure that Africans are no longer migrating to South Africa. Black South Africans fully deserved every minute of the 600 years of apartheid they suffered and the raping of their women. We are also very happy of the fact that 90% of the arable land in South Africa is still owned by 6,000 Boar families. Africans made a BIG mistake liberating black South Africans. The Boars are good people black South Africans are real kaffirs. We've confirmed that Africans are safer living with Boars than with black South Africans.

A lot of Africans are jealous of South Africa because of the success SA acquired over the years, especially west africans(mostly Nigerians). I see most of their hateful comments towards us on most African groups on social media. It's funny they come to our country in massive numbers and yet they claim we are xenophobic. These people will come here and claim certain areas to be theirs in our own land, they'll even hurt and do gruesome things to our people in those areas and expect us to do nothing. When we fight back as a result of that they'll shout xenophobia out of their lungs, it's ridiculous. South Africans are peace loving people, a lot of people see and know that to be a fact but we just can't allow any foreigner to disrespect us our own backyard. I believe any nation will defend themselves against traitors and bullies.

Sometimes you just have to thank God for protecting you and preventing you from experiencing or seeing some of these things. May He keep protecting you and prosper you during your stay in the rainbow nation...... Some of the things about South Africa have been more stereotyped from its past but no country is without its own problems and jealousy motivates other countries to envy South Africa or wish its downfall. I think onr thing that is contributing to SA being more safer now than it was in the past is changing how it was more democratic when dealing with hardcore armed criminals and gangs to being more ruthless in eliminating them. And to be honest, its foreigners mostly from other weaker unstable African countries that perpertuated the high profile crime rates than purely South Africans generally......

Nice video. It's best to term white South Africans as white SAns, until they tell you if they are indeed Afrikaner or something else. There is a deep English v Afrikaner rivalry that you don't want to find yourself in, when it happens. It stems from the Anglo-Boer war and the English putting Afrikaners in concentration camps.

Thank you for making these observations about our country. I am a South African who happens to be of European descent and one of the good things about the country since 1994 that isn't often mentioned is freedom of association. Apartheid was a terrible system that divided us from others. I am 75 and remember being mystified and often quite vocal with my parents about aspects like how much the families on our farm were paid. My parents were definitely not flush with money because they had a farm. They employed people to help on the farm but those people were uneducated and unskilled so whilst they were free to leave if they weren't happy most of them stayed for years. I was never afraid of them and surprise surprise even now I leave my cottage door open at night to allow my dogs to go in and out. I share my home and everything in it with my housekeeper and her daughter and son and they bring friends and family to stay over from time to time. She is the daughter I didn't have despite her coming from the indigenous people. We have been together for 37 years. Of course during apartheid years this would have got both of us into big trouble and this is where freedom of association comes in.

In our town, Hoedspruit ( pronounced Hoodsprate) which is close to the Kruger National Park we barely have crime and we are an amazing community where we really care for each other. Our farmers, mostly Afrikaners, do great work among their workers like building clinics and schools for them. Afrikaners are a hybrid of various Europeans. My ancestors were Dutch, French, British and Swedish. Afrikaans is a language in its own right. Originally based on Dutch , it evolved into a singular language unique to SA. Afrikaners are very hard-working, mostly God- fearing people who set great value on education. That explains much of their mindset. My great- grandfather had such high regard for education that he built a school and it was inaugurated roughly 6 years after the Anglo- Boer War of 1899- 1901. During this war against colonial Britain the farms were razed using scorched earth. The women and children were conveyed by cattle truck and ox wagon to concentration camps. The hardship endured included starvation, disease, sexual assault. 28 000 women and mainly children died in these camps. History which is seldom told but told me by my grandparents who survived the camps!

Love your comments. As a Kenyan American, I did want to point something out. In South Africa (and indeed in all African countries), people will interact with you differently since they view you as primarily American. It is similar to how a lot of people in the US interacted with me primarily as an immigrant/African as opposed to an African American. That's why the African experience in the US is markedly different from that of African Americans. Keep up the good work, and good luck to you as you relocate to South Africa

Its the impact of social media and the Fear factor. People can just sue any picture, whether very old or non existence and change the caption to foreigners being attached in South Africa, that goes viral and causes people to be afraid.

Do you know what makes South African racial polotics diffrent to everywhere else? We talk about it head on. We actively try to tackle it and grow. Theres no hush hush "we dont say that here". Its not a taboo topic. We embrace what makes us different so that we can stand up stronger together. I love watching your perspective on my home. It is so balanced and honest. Stay safe ...and welcome to our family!

Glad you came you visit South Africa. There are fringe elements on both sides that will always be the most vocal, but the majority want a successful home. I hope you went to watch a Rugby game or ate some biltong. If not, make sure to do so on your next trip. Stay safe. Happy and safe travels.

Glad to see you guys are settling in south africa.. the simple, rather unpleasant truth, is that the whole neighborhood cant like you same.. not in the US, not in Kenya, not even in south africa. I heard there were nasty comments online from Kenyans (or supposed Kenyans - some could actually be masquerading as Kenyans.. Somalis and Tanzanians particularly don't like Kenyans for some funny reason); while you are free to choose how you wanna think about about people, don't imagine most Kenyans think like that. we love visitors, even though we do have a few mad people in our country (or pretending to be in our country)

Afrikaaners are from dutch descent and speak afrikaans as their dominant language (and have a subculture of their own). Most other whites are British descent and speak english (and have a somewhat different subculture). Of course there's also indians, Portuguese, chinese, spanish, etc - most of which fall more on the regular white side of the scale in terms of culture, but of course with strong influences from their endemic cultures. Just in case ur under the impression all whites are afrikaaners - they're not 😅. Usually if they sound more british, they're of british descent, and if they really roll their r's and have a heavy accent they're of afrikaaner descent -i say afrikaaner because they are not the same as dutch anymore. But u are 100% right - all people have their own values and if they are racist they will usually be quite open and rude about it - which isnt nice but at least you dont have to worry about where u stand when ur back is turned. 😅 I really hope u never experience any of the big isssues while u are with us 🤗
