This was an excellent video. It presents itself as a trap video, and at its core it is, but it also provides useful, and thematic, examples of good opening play leading up to those traps.
@ChessGeek12 жыл бұрын
Indeed! In fact, more important than the individual positions and lines are the thematic ideas that you can use!

Just wanted to let you know, this vid game me the confidence to actually try playing rated chess. I only really played puzzles because of learning lots of openings just to get started seemed intimidating and gave up. Now, after a few losses, and random resignations, I finally got my first checkmate! It was very useful that you went into the "ideas", future plans and outlined how the pawn structures matter. Anyways, hope you have a good xmas/holidays

Outstanding stuff! Complimentary to the Pirc for sure. Easy to confuse the lines between the two at first ;-). Also agree with @Zack Davis…maybe underselling it as a trap video,

Great video! Opened up a lot of mistakes in players in my lower rating.
New to chess learned the kings Indian. ATM it's my most go-to move with black. But my midgame is still quite off so Ty this may help a little 😁

5:35 Why does the King have to move? It seems the White Queen can take the Bishop and threaten the D6 pawn. White's G6 bishop seems dead either way.
@ImTavish3 ай бұрын
you force check mate, taking the bishop then with your queen, then moving your bishop to the light H3, pawn can't take because the queen pins it
@efthimiossakarellos71502 ай бұрын
Taking d6 is a bad idea for white since the white queen won't be able to get to the f2 square to defend against mate

I only played KID all my life after I learnt it and before it was the Spanish opening... which I have found kinda simple But with a prolonged use of KID, I was faced with lots of traps and moves that simply broke my formation, but this video ....I think it will help me a great deal

woah I learned a lot :x I only base the choice of my openings and defenses on the names and if they sound cool >_< but the thing with the castling Queen-Rook battery was a pretty smart thing I wouldn't hat thought about! King's Indian Defense sounds cool so I thought I should make it my go-to defense! :y I'm rather new to playing chess, but I think that there is a point of skill that when you reach it makes the game so much more interesting than if you'd only stay on the basics.

Tnx it assumes some suboptimal white moves eg they will 000 always first, with black bushop out white is not short casteling usually etc but nice one 👍🏻

Every trap is good except i was skeptical about #5
@sankalppathak17792 жыл бұрын
In the 5th trap after ( knight )fxe4 if the white simply takes the knight with its( pawn) fxe4 then black is loosing very badly 😂 if we continue like u said(black) knight takes e4 then( white) knight takes e4 , then bishop takes d4 #check and queen takes d4 Now u can't take White's bishop on g5 with your queen because then the knight takes queen .. Rest all ideas were fine to play but this one was very risky
@ChessGeek12 жыл бұрын
Yes, so for this one you would have to switch the order. If fxe4, then you can immediately go for the Bxd4 idea, and after Qxd4 then Qxg5, and you are better. Hopefully this makes sense!

Is it only me but trying to understand all there is in this video, even one trap, is really hard. When playing it's not as obvious as we see here. Being a 1100 rated blitz player I guess I need to understand more, like for instance knowing the cases, A6, B7 so on. To me the video goes so fast. Anyway if I get one of the traps somehow I'll be really really happy 🙂

In trap no 3 what if N takes e5 instead of pawn takes e5
@ChessGeek12 жыл бұрын
Great Question. Nxe5 is possible, but after c5 black destabalizes the center for white. Black has a slight advantage and some initiative after something like: Nxe5 c5 d5 Nxe4 Nxe4 Bxe5.

There's something called the pric defence. Just moving the queen's pawn to d6. So if they go pawn e5 you can go take that pawn .

Now how to play AGAINST the King's Indian Defense ;)
@giacalonebuilding4443Ай бұрын
Deny the e and c 4 breaks and try to trade the dark bishops. Kings Indian is my favorite opening so once you play it as black a good bit it will become much easier to play against it since you know everything they want to do

Bruh it’s so easy to understand! I swear. Also you give actual things that happen in games. Well my games at least people play exactly how you just explained. My opinion you did better explaining middle game ideas than hikaru for beginners that is and just this portion. Not saying hikaru isn’t a great teacher but this is just golden needs more views.

The worst video a kings indian player can watch. Nobody plays kings indian in this way. Nobody focuses on developing their light square bishop. Nobody delays their e5 break. Nobody plays Na6 without a5 first. This guy got all of the kings indian concepts wrong
