Ernie Ball sent us 7 different packs of their most recent range of acoustic guitar strings to test out, so we thought it would make an interesting video to try them all out on one acoustic!
We certainly noticed a significant difference between each pack, comment below your opinions we would love to hear what you all think!

Aluminum Bronze sounded best in lows, mids and highs. Great clarity and smooth round bass. Mids were well balanced. Everlasts had the strangest mids to my ear. The rest was more or less even with Earthwoods most dark I think.

Just found this video, to this trombone player's ears listening cranked through Klipsch KG4s and really letting the overtones ring, the 1st pair of Aluminum Bronze was the clear favorite. To me, they had the best fullness and clarity, especially with the mid sustain in ringing chords. Several of those other strings sounded strangely flat in the mid frequencies, and a few times I could hear really some weird upper overtones, you have to have really good speakers to hear it but I listened a few times to make sure. Thanks for helping trombone players string their guitars.

Paradigm phophorus bronze sound nice. I kinda like the twang of the Aluminiums too!! One of the everlast coated even sounded good. Paradigm phophor bronze are the winner imo. But i personally like even lighter strings. The rock/blues earthwoods i like. Some elixirs are good too.

Well done, great quality video! My favorite strings and the only ones I use for acoustics are Ernie Ball Earthwoods PB. I'm not as concerned about the life of the string as I am the tone, but the two seem to be really balanced. I changed from Elixirs.

For ‘paradigm’ read ‘quiet’. I liked all the rest, though they did differ more than I expected. The aluminium strings were a revelation for me. I didn’t think I would like them, but I did. I’m definitely going to try the Earthwoods and the Aluminium. Such a great video for us guitar nerds…! (my wife’s comment is: “What’s wrong with you all?”)

Nice video, and great to have strummed with plectrum and fingerpicking compared - as well as the string changing sustained chords. For me, I prefer in the video the Earthwood 80/20 bronze (non phosphor) . They have a full sound that projects well, and are very articulate when playing low notes without getting boomy, and they also have a very coolt tonaility with a 'piano' like timbre that reminds me of blues, bluegrass, folk for some reason.

Phosphor bronze or bronze alloys always sound better to me than the aluminum alloys. I always bounce back and forth between the two because I’m so indecisive on what I like better. After I use say PB for a while and switch to 80/20, I think 80/20 sound amazing and better. But then vice versa, I will think PB sound better when I switch back. Usually I’m using medium light regardless. The earthwood varieties are my favorites among all acoustic string brands though. Elixirs are second for acoustic for me and feel nice too, better than D’addario acoustic strings which always feel more “violent” on my fingers. However, on electric guitar I typically prefer D’addario over EB. I’ll use a variety of gauges and they always feel consistently good while maintaining tune very well. I do like Elixirs too on electric, but usually only use them to switch things up. Sometimes I even just get tired of the same packaging and will rotate through some EB varieties for a change though.

I’ve never heard people refer to an acoustic guitar as just acoustic. Is this how some people in some state say this? When I heard guitars being referred to we refer to a wooden guitar as “an acoustic guitar”, and less often as a “wood guitar” or “wooden guitar”. If it’s an electric guitar people I know always said “an electric guitar”.

I'm not aware of 9 gauge acoustic strings. I used to play 10's because they were super light. The lighter the gauge, the easier to play. The heavier the gauge, the fuller the tone. I play 12's. Never tried 13's.

Just me but I'm not a big fan of crispy tight toned guitars. I prefer a more finger styled acoustic with very velvety notes but on the other hand this does not make well for a rhythm guitar in some cases. With this said I think the phosphor bronze did this guitar wonders bc to me it sounded so tight the pb helped open it up vocally. I personally use martin 80 20 lp and found them to work for me but I believe i will be trying out Ernie ball here soon. And to cap on why I use 80 20 is bc It doesn't give as much overtone which I did a scalloped brace job on my takamine at about a 20 to 25% brace reduction and talk about making a big difference. Love it but bc i did this it gives me great notation and volume that 80 20 strings work very well with. Enough rambling. Great video ready to try some Ernie Ball strings

I definitely noticed a difference when it comes to his string articulation in the fingerpicking, I thought the Phosphor Bronze earth woods and the Paradigm phosphor bronze sounded best, but that’s the only difference I could really notice in any of them. But in the next shot, the earth wood phosphor bronze sounded kind of dead. Overall I think the phosphor bronze paradigm sounded the best
