Two comments I want to make before I post this 🙈 1. I said "Katajanokassa" a few times in the video - but now thinking about it you might only ever say "Katajanokalla" 🤔Tbh I find it a bit confusing myself so hopefully this makes you feel better that even a Finnish person can get confused about which ending to use where 😂 2. I pronounced Tove's name WRONG again lol. I said it wrong in the Moomin video too...and I said it in the same wrong way here again. Goodness me lmao. It's supposed to be more like "tuuve" (the name is more Swedish) but I keep being too Finnish and pronouncing it exactly how it's spelt. Hope you are not too offended by this 😬

Interesting, so you'd use the adessive case for districts and the inessive case for cities? E.g. "Asun Helsingissä." versus "Asun Katajanokalla"? Anyway, great video! Kiitos paljon.

Question for you: through what I do know about Finnish, postpositions like "keskellä" come after the word they add meaning to, so would the sentence at 2:06 be more like "Hotel Katajanokka on Katajanokka keskellä?" Or maybe it's a dialect change? I could be way off, I'm sorry! Just genuinely curious! Also, hyvää joulua/hyvää lomaa ja onnellista uutta vuotta! ❄🌲 Sorry if that's not accurate, I'll get there! 🇫🇮🤍🇨🇦

Yes you are absolutely right! I was thinking about your question and I think for pretty much all postpositions you should put it after the word like you said - "pöydän keskellä", "tien oikealla", "auton alla" ... but I guess this is a good example of an exception haha! The word "keskellä" can be both in front and after! You just have to use a different case ending, so for example you can say 1. Katajanokan keskellä OR keskellä Katajanokkaa (so genetiivi vs partitiivi) more examples: 2. Pöydän keskellä OR keskellä pöytää 3. Huoneen keskellä OR keskellä huonetta But it would sound really off and weird to say other postpositions in the beginning! But for some reason you can use "keskellä" both in front and behind :) Thanks for pointing this out - I hadn't thought about it before and hope my explanation makes sense! :D Hyvää joulua sinullekin and thank you for watching/commenting!

It's not 100% kirjakieli, but I guess as a voiceover it sounds more natural to use a bit more formal language.
