Good video Ron! I think today most players are overwhelmed with drills and not really sure how they should be practicing. These drills seem practical and conducive to actual gameplay. Thanks 👍🏻

Thank you Raymond. Practicing with purpose by working up sequentially to reach an ultimate goal, is an incremental training method that makes sense imo. Thanks again 👍🏻 ❤️🎱

I would love to see a video from you about realistic practice expectations. Since taking up pool again I find I am almost obsessed, but end up playing about two and a half hours at least five days a week. In the beginning I showed lots of improvement because I was so bad at everything, but then it settled down to a plateau, where I felt stagnant. Then suddenly ratcheted up my “game” a good deal, but the next day I’d be back where I was. Steady improvement though in the end. But, I’m realizing a lot of drills, and instruction are actually pretty advanced, and I tend to get my expectations up and try to do too many new things. Tried the continuous spot object ball drill, it was eye opening. I guess what I’m getting at, from now on I think I’m going to plan each practice with NEVER more than three different goals. I have that drill now as one, where I will keep track of the count of how many I can do in a row. The second thing is just plain working on draw shot control (including stop shots and stun shots with low hit on the cues ball) and then a book I have with exercises. This even may be too much, I’ll figure that out. It may be that I ought to simply devote the 2 hours to ONE exercise, and then the half hour extra…just play and see what effect it has on my playing. But would love to hear your take on taking on too many goals at once. I’m also considering going WAY more basic and simply setting up the same three balls (as you also show as a practice thing) and really predicting/controlling where the cue ball goes. I get a little confused sometimes also on when you have a fairly long shot at an object ball, to make the cue ball really hit three or so rails when one uses follow or draw. That is a big question mark for me.

I practice drills all the time at my local pool hall, people look at me like I'm crazy!!!! I feel this is the best way to improve your game overall.... I wouldn't trade my practice routines for anything.... i appreciate you sharing. Several of these drills you perform is what I use. All your drills develop consitency, confidence and a no fear attitude when playing a match or league play..... I just don't get nervous, I recognize the shot or shots and play like I'm shooting drills shots..... Thank you

It would be more helpful if you showed where you hit the cue ball. I am 81 and haven’t played in about 45 years. I used to be a fairly good shot maker but never knew the effects of spin on the object ball. I now have been trying to improve for about 4 months. I like your videos and think I could learn from them.

@@ronthepoolstudent Thank you for your response. I learned something today during my practice. I have been having difficulty in making long shots when the object ball is 6 or 7 inches or more from the rail and the cue ball may be about the same but at the other end of the table. Today I was trying to pocket an object ball in the right corner pocket. Out of frustration I figured I would try a little left spin on the cue ball. I made the shot and several more on both sides of the table. Needless to say I was encouraged. I will study the videos you sent. Again thank you.
@ronthepoolstudent
@ronthepoolstudent Ай бұрын
@@jackslover107 yes, outside spin on a cut shot helps throw the object ball into the pocket. It makes it track into the pocket. It negates cut induced throw or the plowing effect also known as collision induced throw.

Another great video! Bought my Diamond Table close to 2 years ago and i find myself now just throwing balls on the table endlessly which is fun and i can do for hours but I dont think i am improving as much.. Although i focus on my stroke which is so much better. I need big help with positioning.

Thank you TFT. These exercises are geared for position play as well as shot making. Btw, when I first started learning the game, I would throw all fifteen on the table to try to run them off. Once I got into what you’ve seen here, that’s when I was able to run out with consistency. Thanks again TFT 👍🏻❤️🎱

@ronthepoolstudent same here i also bought 9ft Diamond pro am almost 2yrs ago as well ironically. But i myself am guilty of just randomly rolling balls on the table and shooting them where they lie. I usually play 8 ball against the ghost but that doesn't help very much. Great video and i need to start practicing drills that you share on your channel. I know they are boring but as you get better at them im sure they aren't boring anymore. I just want to be able to run out racks more consistently which ive never ran a complete rack out yet in my life. Problem i am a truck driver and dont get to play weekly so it will take me a lot longer to achieve my goal but i do believe i can do it..

@@terrythomas4407 when I began learning the game, I watched Niels Feijen, Poolology, John Disque, FX Billiards, Tor Lowry and Lil’ Chris’ channels Terry. Since approximately two years ago however, I’ve mostly focused on improving my game based on the seven exercises I recently published a video on. My channel is based on methods and techniques that have helped me to improve during these last three years. My goal is to stay original to my growth which dates back to, Feb 22nd 2021, when I was a “D” player and now to my current “B” level. I see no other channels that show a player’s evolution/journey, so I feel my channel is unique and relatable to the player that strives to take their game to that next level. Sorry to spell out more than you asked for, but others can read this to get a better understanding of what I and my channel is really all about and it’s not about copying other KZbin creators. Thank you 👍🏻
