The fetch quest: Introduced in the folk tale about the man who had to get his pig to cross over a stile in order to return home. My favourite 17 cakes bit is absolutely wiping the floor with the beast in the inFamous 2 good ending. Sure it only lasts for a couple of seconds, but that's part of the satisfaction. Final Fantasy IX also has a timed section during the hunting tournament in one of the cities. I remember it being so frustrating back in the day because the timer continued counting down during the camera movements at the start and end of each battle, which took FOREVER.

K O'Connell FFVIII did this too when you’re getting to Omega Weapon...10 seconds wasted on looking at the bell swinging. Of course it’s totally possible to engage OW in the remaining time but still...I don’t need to see the bell swinging for 10 seconds if I can hear it loud and clear over the pipe organ background music.

In japanese action and rpgs there is often a quest to retrieve or awaken some ancient power in order to stand a chance against the main antagonist. The "open a door with four metaphorical or real keys" quest. The "feeding a creature with increasingly difficult to obtain items" quest. The "ultimate meal cooking" quest in some jrpgs. The "invaded town retake". The "one of your teammates won't make it back alive" quest. The "ancient civilization's ruins exploration" quest. The "side B" quest or the "meanwhile in x..." Quest.
