Appreciate the honest approach to this video. I’m so tired of political biased ppl trashing Austin just cause it’s a liberal city.

Thank you! I do my best to keep it balanced. It really is a great place to live, and despite what a lot will say, I think it can be great for anyone regardless of political beliefs, as long as you are open to the possibility.

Moved there in 2005 and it was incredibly awesome. Worked downtown for 15 years and could get there in 15 mins from north round rock! Mom and pop Mexican restaurants everywhere you looked, 6th street was safe around the clock and I could count the homeless on one hand. Heck, I knew them all by name. When the hipsters took over the east side and all the good/cheap eateries starting closing and being replaced with high priced coffee shops and bodegas I was done. Moved to CO in 2019 and haven't looked back. Sounds like it's even worse now.

Austin was great then, and I believe its still great now, but not for the same reasons. Austin has things to do, restaurants and events on par with cities twice it size, but infrastructure hasn't quite caught up. It definitely lost the more small town feel a while back though. Where in CO did you end up. I'm planning a summer trip to Southwest CO for next year.

@@livinginATXnow I’m in Highlands Ranch, southwest of Denver against the foothills. Moved here in 2019. It’s nice out here. I haven’t road raged once since moving here lol. People complain about the traffic but it’s NOTHING compared to what I dealt with in Austin. I was up in Leander 12 miles from my office downtown and it would take me 1.5 hour to get home (if I was lucky) in 4pm traffic. I just couldn’t take it anymore, had to go.

I lived in Austin from 2008-2021. It was the best time of my life, I grew up playing in a metal band in highschool and played shows. A lot of those venues arent even open anymore or have the same music. But after visiting Toronto canada (my birth city) and then moving to Lansing Michigan and living here for two years I’m ready to come back. People are not the same around the world. The people in Michigan suck especially the women. Austin is very friendly and people from cali are usually pretty nice. Always got along well with them. There are too many squares and lames up north in this state. I never had an issue making friends down there. I still have no friend circle and have never struggled more in my dating life. Thats why I’m looking to move back. This long winter here isnt worth being cooped up with a bunch of cold stuck up people who cant even respond to you on social media. People in Austin are real and loyal

It’s pretty crazy how different people are from one city to the next. If you need help finding a place around here, that’s what we do. Feel free to reach out anytime! 512.377.1237

While I agree with most of what you said people are just different these days. It's so hard to get people together to do things. Also the culture of Ghosting is very prevalent these days even here in Austin for no reason other than that what other people do so everyone doest it.

Austin had rows of tents along Cesar Chavez back in 2019 when I visited. Im sure its worse now but that problem did not start after the pandemic.
@livinginATXnow Жыл бұрын
I remember that. It was like that for a while down there but that aspect is actually much better. You don't see any tents downtown like that anymore. I don't know what progress has really been made with helping homeless people or where they all went, but its not as visible downtown.

AUSTIN IS GREAT just like every other place it has its PROS AND CONS that is life but its a great place to live
@livinginATXnow Жыл бұрын
Very true! Obviously with all the growth, a lot of people still agree that the pros outweigh the cons

Here's all you need to know about the TX power grid: it was specifically created to AVOID federal regulations that were put in place after a large blackout in the NorthEast.
@livinginATXnow Жыл бұрын
That is true. I do think there are some pros and cons to the idea, and that it could be a great system. Obviously with recent events over the last few years, some of the major flaws were exposed. Hopefully they've made improvements to prevent that from happening again, but we shall see. supposedly its going to be colder and wetter this winter with El Nino, so it may be put to the test
@EmmanuelGoldstein3 Жыл бұрын
There's nothing to suggest that Texas's recent grid problems have anything to do with lack of regulation. While it's technically true that the independent grid was created to avoid federal control of the grid, that was because Texas figured that it could regulate its own grid better than the federal govt could. And this was long before the 1965 blackout and any changes that the federal regulators made in response to it. The Texas grid is also connected to (but doesn't participate in) both the US (Eastern) grid and the Mexican grid, and can supply power to both of those in emergencies, or to receive it. Texas is wise to keep its independent grid. But it very much needs to expand its generating capacity to keep up with its recent massive growth in both industry and population.

Where around Austin can I get a smaller house with 1-2 acre of land under 400k? Smaller house - 1700 sq ft
@livinginATXnow Жыл бұрын
The acreage and under 400k is going to be tough. It’s doable but you’ll be around 45+ minutes from Austin. Probably out in areas around Elgin and Bastrop. Shoot me a text or call 512.377.1237 and we can make sure you don’t miss something you’d like if it is on or hits the market.

@livinginATXnow Жыл бұрын
I do! I’m just also in Austin a lot too. And yes I did lose a little. Thanks for noticing. How did you find me here and in Jackson? I didn’t think I’d have too many people who’d be looking into both of these cities?

The people that live there. @@livinginATXnow

Walkable is irrelevant in most of Texas; even cycling is tough with the weather here.
@livinginATXnow Жыл бұрын
True you definitely don't want to have to walk far in the summer heat, but being able to quickly walk places without having to drive can be really nice most of the year. Do you live here in the Austin area or another part of Texas?
@Eternal_9393 Жыл бұрын
Austin is way overrated, its a rundown city now.
@livinginATXnow Жыл бұрын
I dont think it’s overrated, but I don’t think people move to Austin today can do so for the reasons people did 10 years ago. It’s still a great place, if you are looking for what it is today. And if you prefer something different, they are still neighborhoods and suburbs that offer a lot of the benefits without some of the downsides much of Austin has developed over the last few years
